Love this place! I came here to finish writing a book and I was able to do just that. Close enough to Starved Rock, where I went hiking with my dogs every morning. Great coffee and food. Maria's Cafe is a must! Looking forward to staying here again!

We had an excellent stay and can’t recommend this property enough. The home was clean, modern, and incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived. It was also exceptionally well-equipped for pets, with a fully fenced yard, food and water bowls, and even a pet bed—details that made traveling with our pet so much easier.Emilia was outstanding to work with. I had accidentally booked the wrong week, and despite having no obligation to do so, she graciously adjusted our reservation to the correct dates. That level of flexibility and kindness made a stressful situation much easier. We were in town for a difficult reason, laying a family member to rest, and having such a comfortable and thoughtfully prepared place to stay allowed us to focus on what truly mattered. Truly a top-notch experience all around.

We really enjoyed Starved Rock State Park. Fall colors were beautiful and great hiking. The canyons were not what you expect in Illinois. Ottawa is a cute town that is convenient to other attractions. Heads up many of the restaurants are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

À propos de l’hôte

Hôte : Emilia Zivoin

Image de profil de l’hôte
Hi! I’m originally from Poland and moved to the United States when I was 14 years old. I’ve always been passionate about design, creating welcoming spaces, and helping others feel at home.

Hosting allows me to combine my love for hospitality, interior design, and creating peaceful environments people can truly enjoy. I personally care deeply about comfort, cleanliness, and thoughtful details so every guest can relax and feel welcomed during their stay.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

I first discovered Ottawa years ago while traveling through small towns and hidden places that felt peaceful and authentic. I instantly fell in love with the natural beauty, slower pace, and charm of the area.

Over time, Ottawa became a place I kept returning to, especially because of the nearby parks, river views, and calm atmosphere. When I began my hosting journey, I knew I wanted to create a relaxing retreat somewhere that felt grounded in nature and away from the rush of bigger cities.

Being close to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park makes this location especially special for guests who enjoy hiking, exploring, and reconnecting with nature.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Hozho Cottage was created as a peaceful retreat centered around comfort, calmness, and connection. From the moment I first walked into this home, I knew I wanted to create a space where people could slow down, relax, and feel at ease.

The property is thoughtfully designed to feel welcoming and comfortable while still connected to nature. Guests can enjoy a fully fenced yard for pets, outdoor spaces to unwind, EV charging, and a quiet atmosphere surrounded by birds, greenery, and visiting wildlife.

The name “Hozho” represents peace, balance, and harmony with nature — which reflects the feeling I hoped to create throughout the home.

One of my favorite memories was watching deer peacefully rest in the backyard before the privacy fence was installed. Moments like that reminded me exactly why this place feels so special, and I hope guests feel that same sense of calm during their stay.
