Starved Rock Retreat! Game room, King Bed, Pet Friendly!

Welcome to the Starved Rock Retreat! This 4-bedroom, 2-bath home is located on Ottawa's southside. This home is located 8 miles from Starved Rock, 2 miles from downtown Ottawa, and only 2 blocks from Kroger Grocery. Enjoy your day hiking Starved Rock, then come home and relax with dinner on the back patio. Cap the night off with a family game night around the billiards and ping pong table. Additionally, the game room includes giant connect 4, skee ball, and a 14 games in 1 pacman arcade game.

This ranch house is spacious providing and open concept floor plan and no steps in the home. It offers a full-sized kitchen, with everything needed to cook a family dinner. There is a beautifully remodeled master bathroom off of the master King bedroom, as well as a full bathroom shared between the two queen bedrooms and the dual twin bedroom. Each bedroom offers ample storage, and the master bedroom offers a dedicated workspace for traveling workers. In the living room we offer a full-sized pull-out couch with a 58-inch Roku TV and plenty of games for the kids in the kitchen Cupboard. Finally, the entertainment room boasts a full sleeper futon, an additional TV, a full-size pool table and a ping pong table topper. The entertainment room also has a washer and dryer.

Although we are pet friendly, we do require a one time pet fee of $150.

We love sharing our home with all our guests. However, due to prior disrespectful renters and property damage we will only accept booking requests from:
-- Renters who are above the age of 25.
--Renters who will be staying during the reservation and are not booking for someone else.
--Renters who have less than 5 star reviews.

**Although there are no steps in the home, each shower requires you to step-up into the shower and there are no grab bars installed at this time.

The hosts were wonderful - quick to respond to our every question. The house is great with lots of fun - especially the game room. We were staying there over the holidays to meet up with family and they had a little tree that was lit up. Just the perfect festive touch. We had family members from 8 to 83 years old. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and fun things to do.

Very nice stay. The house is nice and clean. Bedrooms are large and the beds are good. The yard was great for our dogs and the fencing makes the yard very private. A big kitchen that is fully stocked and the appliances were great. Bathrooms were clean and there were plenty of towels & wash rags. The neighborhood was good and pretty quiet. We really enjoyed are stay.

I agree with all the perfect ratings. Simple, efficient and comfortable layout incl. master bed separate from other 3 bedrooms, ceiling fans, good A/C, open kitchen. Plenty of games, pool table much better than your avg toy table found in many rental houses. Dog loved it: convenient fenced-in backyard, good walking neighborhood/parks, no hose for baths:) You can see Kroger grocery from the back gate exit. Starved Rock: 10min drive to Illinois, Ottawa, and Kaskaskia Canyon trailheads; 20mins to St. Louis Canyon; visitor center in the middle.Minor issue with check-in code but Stephanie responded quickly. Highly recommended!

Lovely Starved Rock Getaway

This home has LOTS of lovely details- My nephews ADORED the game room- including the axes, pool table, and connect 4. Its in a great family neighborhood with a park right behind and another huge park only 3 mins away. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the extra blankets at the end of the beds. Overall a great home for a family getaway!

We had a great stay! Our group of 10 was in town for a family reunion, and this home was perfect for us. Everyone was comfortable with plenty of space to relax. The house was very clean, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. There were more than enough towels for everyone, which was a huge plus. The game room was a hit and we enjoyed playing pool in the evenings. Would definitely recommend this place and stay again!

Very pleased with this home and the amenities. It accommodated our large family very well. Game room was perfect for us adults in our 30s and two teens. Pickleball was also a huge hit! The board games and comfy living area was perfect for our older adults 55. First time grilling with Charcol but the chief did just fine. We left some for the next crew! Lastly, the fenced in backyard was much needed for our four legged friends. Being stuck in the car for our 4 hr drive to the home they welcomed being off leash and getting to stretch their legs and burn off some energy. The host were excellent with communication before the trip and we would definitely stay here again.

Starved Rock Retreat

Very clean. Nice neighborhood. Secure fenced back yard for my pups. Great location for us to visit family and friends. This area was home for us for more than 50 years so loved being greeted by the picture of Starved Rock. We will stay here again. Thanks for a comfortable week!

Perfect for our Board Game Weekend!

We had 5 couples gather for a weekend of board gaming and this was perfect for us. We were able to utilize the pool table as one of our board game tables, which was great! Everyone had a great time, and we had plenty of room. The layout really worked for us. We hope to come back in the future!

Perfect Girls’ Trip

This was the perfect place for a girls’ trip. We all had our own room for when we needed space. The bedrooms are all large, the kitchen-living room area open, and the game room has a door to close for noise. It was very clean, and very well decorated. It was a five minute drive to downtown Ottawa, and 2 mins to a grocery store. The owners were quick to respond to a few questions we had. It was too cold/rainy to use backyard, but it was a nice size with a table and outdoor couch. We would stay here again!

Much needed getaway

Everything I needed for a comfortable stay while visiting and hiking some state parks from cooking every meal, to streaming my favorite shows, to playing pool and a little Pac-Man. I’d stay here again.

Nice weekend getaway

Lots of compliments for this property: Lots of space inside, and for parking. Plenty of towels and kitchen utensils/cookware. Nice game room. Quiet area close to grocery store. The only (small) negative thing I would mention was that we struggled the first night to establish a comfortable temperature in a couple of the rooms. One bedroom didn't appear to have any HVAC vetilation at all, which we alleviated by leaving the door open to that kids room on the 2nd night. And the master bedroom had its own radiant heater, which was slow to respond to settings. We were able to adapt to that by the 2nd night as well. Highly recommend this property.

Family Time

Clean home with adequate space for 9 members of our family. Fun playing billiards and playing board games. Everything we needed to make our meals including baking pans and Keurig.
