Quiet Cabin on Bearskull Lake

Nestled along a private road, Bearskull Cabin is perched on 3 acres of wooded hillside overlooking pristine, 80-acre Bearskull Lake. Enjoy 650' of secluded shoreline. From the spacious and private deck, take in sublime views of a small island (with nesting loons) and a wild, undeveloped far shore studded with big pines. Inside, Bearskull Cabin is a step back in time, paneled with original 1950s knotty pine but with updated fixtures and furniture. The lake is quiet, deep, and lovely: great for swimming, fishing and boating. We have three nice boats for guests to use: a rowboat, a kayak, and a canoe. Deck has a picnic table, Adirondack chairs, and a charcoal grill. One bedroom with a queen-sized bed, new carpet, and large dresser. The small bathroom includes a clawfoot tub with shower surround. The couch in the living room pulls out to a queen-sized bed. While secluded, Bearskull Cabin is within a few miles of several memorable Northwoods eateries, and many other lakes and natural areas.

Our second stay at this secluded cabin wrapped in the forest was even better than the first! We loved paddling peaceful Bearskull Lake as the trees started to turn brilliant shades of reds and oranges. Stargazing from the deck was also incredible without any light pollution! We loved hiking in the old hemlock forests, driving up to see Lake Superior’s impressive waves, and staying tucked inside this cozy cabin on a drizzly day and watching the birds flutter about outside. Chris and Breja are thoughtful, responsive hosts, but we really had no issues. We hope to return next year!

Beautiful, private pier with small shore. Our pup absolutely loved it and we did too!! Everything we needed and more was provided!! The cabin was quaint with plenty of room, outlets. The deck is amazing, wrap around with gates to easily contain our pup. Host was responsive and easy to deal with.

Without repeating what others have mentioned, the cabin was clean, quaint, comfortable, quiet, and had character. My wife and I forgot what true quiet was. If you want to just hear your heart beat, you will love this place. Weather couldn’t have been better and the lake was like a mirror every day, we lucked out. Used their canoe and row boat often and fished off both docks. Cabin very cozy and stocked with everything needed. Owners were extremely responsive to any questions we had. Will miss the dead silent pit fires. Heard owls and saw bald eagles. Birds at the porch feeders abundant, just bring or pick up some seed. Wife and I enjoyed winding down the nights with fire on and picking a book from their library. Love the bathroom porthole. To find something wrong would just be nitpicking. We loved our stay and would definitely return. Thank you for sharing your property with us.

We LOVED this home very much. It’s so unique. I could feel that it has a history. There are so many unique features to the home like a glass cabinet over the kitchen sink, a ramp and stairs for entry, and there are stairs or a walking path to the lake. The home has lots of windows. It has a beautiful outdoor space overlooking the lake and we spent a lot time there listening to the loons and watching the birds. There is no tv which was a plus for us. It was great to “unplug” from that. There is a hotspot which worked great. The home was super clean. The appliances were clean and worked perfectly. It has a very well stocked kitchen with every utensil you may need along with many pots and pans and a crockpot. There are 2 docks for fishing which is nice. We have a canoe and docking can be tricky sometimes. This home is everything we love about being in the woods. We will definitely be back.

Yearly Family Getaway

We had a great time getting away from the hustle and bustle of life back home and relaxing in this charming Northwoods retreat! We took advantage of all the lake and property had to offer. And we absolutely adored the “looney” neighbors!

We had an enjoyable stay at the cabin on Bearskull Lake. Great weather, peak fall colors. Exactly what we were hoping for. The only downside was the loons seemed to have migrated for the season.

One Vacation A Year

Very quiet and relaxing cabin on a beautiful lake. We enjoyed the lake in the morning with the leaves at perfect peak time. The fog coming across the lake added to the view. The music collection was great and I enjoyed reading a ghost story by the fire place to my husband.

Incredible!

We had the best time here. This cabin is so cute. The lake was warm and comfortable, and the hosts were great. The perfect place to spend a week and relax. The shower is quite small in height- I was nearly at the ceiling and I am 5'5 so be aware if you are tall! We truly had such an amazing time and really enjoyed the ability to go swim, kayak, canoe, or just stay inside and be cozy. We hope to come back!

Lovely Get Away!

We loved our stay at Bearskull Cabin! The hosts were very responsive to our questions. The property description was accurate and check in was a breeze. We were thankful for a place that welcomed our dog too. Our lab, Ziggy loved his daily swims and exploring all that the area offers. We were well situated for excursions into the towns nearby and took in a couple UP waterfalls. It was a perfect spot to unplug for a while. We brought our boat, but if you don't have one, the hosts have a row boat, canoe, and a kayak to enjoy the lake. We recommend Bearskull Cabin!
