Built on 1 acre lot, you have ample room to explore and meditate in your own patch of redwood forest, providing you peace and privacy. In the morning, enjoy the chirps of the birds and warm sunlight while you meditate or do yoga in the backyard deck (yoga mat provided) in the middle of giant redwood trees. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in magnificent ocean views and breathtaking sunsets located only 13 miles away. At night, lay on the outdoor hammock to relax with a glass of wine. Comfortable memory foam beds, high speed internet (1Gb fiber), ergonomic desk in each bedroom. This is a lovely home surrounded by trees. The deck and porch were a favorite spot to unwind after a day of adventure. We found this to be a wonderful basecamp as we explored the area. It's close to the coast, Occidental, and Sanoma/Napa Valley wineries. We skipped a day trip to San Fransico in favor of a day at Armstrong State Park. Highly recommend going to the park early for a restful walk on well-maintained trails.

We enjoyed our stay! Everything was in working order and clean upon arrival. We enjoyed the open kitchen/living space area. We had to do some cleaning of the patio furniture but once that was taken care of, we enjoyed the back patio each day. Bathrooms and kitchen were stocked with everything we needed, although it would be helpful to include foil and saran wrap in the kitchen. Bottom line, we would stay here again.

Peaceful and Great Outdoors Activities

We loved the location close to charming towns and the beach. Our dog loved all the close by hiking trails and the property had everything you need and seemed to be newly remodeled. We will be back!

Cabin in Redwoods

The location, in a redwood grove, is wonderful. One of the joys was to sit on the back patio, enjoying the big trees and the silence of the forest is marvelous. The house was perfectly clean. It had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. Nicolas was very responsive to our questions. We would stay there again.

Modern house in the woods

It was a great spot to stay- spent time in Occidental, the Russian River area, Bodega Bay, Armstrong Redwood Nature Preserve, floated down the river and went on the hike in the neighborhood that the host recommended. Nice accommodations and very responsive host, cute little modern house in the woods! 🙂

Hidden in the hills

This is a lovely little place hidden in the hills just away from the coast. The house has been updated nicely and has all the basics you could want. Everything was clean. Our 1st night there was a bit warm but after opening the house up it was very comfortable. There are several little markets close to pick up a few things if needed. If you're going to take your meal at the house maybe do some shopping before arrival as lager stores tend to be a bit of a distance.

Sweltering, Spider-Ridden Stay

The house is 'rustic' in that there are no screens on the windows & the house was swarming with moths/spiders. It never dropped below 82 degrees in the house and was 86 degrees when we left at 2:30a. Without screens & closed windows, air circulation was minimal and the house was sweltering. I stayed with an older family member who became ill due to the heat inside the home. The front screen door on the house has a massive gap and 3-4 large spiders crawled across the floor. We tried to cool the house down - and it wasn't possible due to inadequate screens. A fun weekend, turned into a sweltering, miserable mess.

For the benefit of future guests, we would like to clarify that, as mentioned in our listing, our home does not have air conditioning. However, it has remained comfortable for many years due to the natural shade provided by the surrounding tall redwood trees. Unfortunately, during Justin's stay, California experienced a historic heatwave, which greatly affected the usual conditions (as referenced here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/10/03/weather/west-california-heat-wave-excessive-heat-warning-climate) Additionally, while our home is equipped with proper screens for ventilation—on the front door, two patio doors near the kitchen, and the master bedroom—Justin chose to keep the doors and windows closed due to concerns about spiders, which impacted airflow. We understand the challenges posed by the extreme weather and regret any discomfort this caused. While the heat was beyond our control, we hope you stay safe and well.

Underwhelming

We were very disappointed in our stay. From the moment we opened the door after weary traveling we were hit with a pungent musty smell that permeated the home. Light switched & fixtures throughout don't work, no kitchen towels, clutter in closets with the homeowners items, dirty laundry room, not kitchen basics like plastic wrap and foil, no dishwasher soap, pet hair on the stair landing and the sheets were old and pilled on both beds. Overall the home was not clean and a weird sheet hangs under the stairs to hide some cords. Also, we were instructed by the host to perform certain housekeeping tasks before leaving for the towels and trash and we were on vacation with no expectation of having to do such tasks and no other places we stays asked for us to perform cleaning tasks. I urge the host to clean the home, replace the sheets, fix everything that isn't working and make it more friendly for travels that wish to cook by provide the basics.

A bit disappointed

I am so sad to report that this property was not clean, well-stocked, or very comfortable. We were so impressed with the photos and host’s preparation messages. However, the listing overpromises. The property is not secluded - it is surrounded by neighbors who have full visibility into most of the house from all but the rear side of it. The house was the dirtiest I’ve ever seen of a rental. Our feet were black immediately, there was dog fur everywhere, cobwebs in every corner, debris in the drawers, oil coating the stove and hood range. The house was poorly stocked - no extra paper towel or trash bag rolls. Minimal dishes & cooking utensils. No dish towels, no throw blankets… The bath towels smelled of mildew. The master bedroom door sits 6 or so inches above the ground. The bathroom is completely open to the bedroom. No sound separation in the home and very little privacy. Overall, I’m still shocked by the state of this property. The host claimed they had a cleaner come and offered for them to return - I don’t think they have had it professionally cleaned for a very long time. We wanted to love it - I hate to leave just a negative (but necessary) review.

Hi Calin, thank you for your feedback. I’m always striving to improve our guests' experiences and would love any additional suggestions you might have. Regarding the stocking: we provide cutlery/dishes/bowls for 8 guests; chopsticks for four, and a full set of kitchenware, including pots/sauce pots/pans, kitchen knives, and glassware (mugs, glasses, wine glasses) for 6+ each type. As courtersy, we also offer Keurig coffee pods, a variety of teas, and a good selection of seasonings. We leave one roll of paper towels and 2-4 extra rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom and are always happy to provide more upon request. As for the master bedroom door, it’s a sliding barn door, with about an inch gap from the ground, which is quite standard. The shower is open-concept, as shown in the photos, though adding captions for clarity could be a good idea. I apologize for the issue with cleanliness, particularly the stove, and I've already addressed this with our cleaning service. The comment about your feet going black immediately was surprising, but I’ve passed that feedback along as well. Thank you again for your input!

There’s hardly any water up stairs the shower doesn’t work at all. Threshold into upstairs bedroom isn’t attached caused me to trip heated was up at 85 degrees when we got here took forever to cool off zero water pressure
