We’re disappointed to read this review, as it does not reflect the reality of this guest’s stay. The mention of “water damage” refers to minor Sheetrock repairs that resulted from the historic citywide flooding in Norman. We offered to fix it immediately, but the guest specifically asked that we wait until after departure. Those repairs were completed right away. The AC unit and smoke alarm were never brought up during the stay, and we’ve had no issues with either. The smoke alarm simply required a battery replacement, which was promptly addressed. Regarding the late checkout: the reservation clearly stated an August 1 checkout by noon (we approved a late checkout of noon instead of our normal 11:00) at the latest so our cleaners could prepare the home for the next arrival. The guest’s son did not vacate on time, our cleaners could not access the property, and there was also an undisclosed pet inside barking like crazy at our cleaners. Because the unit remained occupied beyond checkout and our schedule was disrupted, an additional nightly charge was applied — not a fee for “30 minutes,” but for the extra day the unit was unavailable. We strive to be fair, clear, and responsive with all guests, and our many positive reviews reflect this. Unfortunately, this review was left only after we enforced our policies consistently and honored the guest’s own request to delay repairs until after their stay.
