The host was very helpful and offered great suggestions about activities, dining and where to get groceries in the area. The house was very comfortable, well stocked to make cooking easy, and the view of the river was absolutely incredible. My boys really had fun playing ping pong in the garage, and I already miss drinking my morning coffee on the lower deck with that spectacular view of the Smith River. The small details, such as having a hummingbird feeders filled with nectar, and the fresh flowers on the kitchen counter made it really feel like home.

This is a great home highlighting beautiful Smith River and redwood tree views. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor space for a family to spread out. We especially loved all the extra accommodations within the home- from extra blankets, pillows and towels to unexpected additional cooking supplies, spices, movies, and games. Being an older home, there are a few quirks, but the owners have a detailed welcome book that outlines this, it also includes great tips for things to do and see in the area. We enjoyed our stay!

Loved, loved loved this home. It was very clean and comfortable. The view of the river and redwoods from the front room, kitchen and family room are fantastic. It was quiet and peaceful. The correspondence with the owner was always quick to respond to my questions and helped me retrieve my wallet that I left behind. Everything about this house was wonderful! If our travels bring us back to this area again, we would definitely try to rent this again.

I liked the property and home. It rained on Sunday when we got up till about noon so things were wet on the deck; and a regional power outage for 9 hours from 6 PM on Monday to 4:30 AM the next morning. The 2 events cut our outdoor time back. We enjoyed a great blue heron across the river for hours and fish ducks and a big mallard and his mate. Bill saw a fisherman catch a fish. We played some horseshoes. The river house is pretty unique!

We had a wonderful stay at the river house. It was in close proximity to so many things. We hiked in the Redwoods, went to the ocean, swam in the private swimming hole, roasted marshmallows, sat outside reading and watching the cranes, ate some great seafood at The Chartroom but also was able to cook some excellent meals in a well stocked kitchen. One half of the house can be closed off at night for privacy plus there was a pillow library and everyone got a pillow that they loved. I kept waking up forgetting I wasn’t home it was so comfortable. That’s honestly never happened. We had a great time and made some fabulous memories.

Everything about the stay was great. The house was comfortable with lots of linens, blankets, and pillows. The kitchen was well equipped. The location was amazing. Wonderful river access on a private swimming hole! We plan on coming back.

This is a cozy, comfortable home! We had a great time enjoying the river behind the house, and this place is very conveniently located to Jedidiah Smith state park, if you are looking to spend time in the Redwoods. The house itself has many great amenities, including games in the garage that my kids enjoyed playing with. I highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a quiet spot for a family vacation!

Absolutely beautiful views right on the river! The house was well-equipped with everything we needed—and more. We experienced a minor maintenance issue during our stay, but the owners responded incredibly fast. Within 30 minutes, a crew arrived and fixed the issue promptly. It didn’t affect our stay at all. The hospitality, responsiveness, and location make this place a true gem. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to others!

We stayed at this peaceful location with Smith River unobstructed view with our two kids and dog. The owners are very prompt to return communication & have thought of everything to make stay warm, entertaining and convenient. Both beds were very comfortable as well! Very grateful for the thoughtfulness of having cooking supplies, toiletries/laundry soap, evengames! Thank you!
