We had a great weekend getaway at this lake house. It’s a little different from most vacation rentals because it’s clearly a family lake home that the owners actively use. There are quite a few personal belongings throughout, but it’s also extremely well stocked with just about everything you could need.The location was exactly what we were looking for—private, quiet, and with easy lake access using very few steps. The kayaks, paddleboards, and lily pad were a great bonus. The host was responsive, answered our questions quickly, and graciously accommodated an early check-in when the home was available, which we really appreciated.A few things future guests should know: there are security cameras inside and outside the home, and guests are asked to turn them off upon arrival and back on before departure. This was not disclosed before our stay and was unexpected. If you have severe pet allergies, this may not be the best fit, as it was evident the owners bring their dog. Also, the private dock is occupied by the owners’ boats, so it doesn’t appear there is room if you plan to bring or rent your own boat.The driveway is steep and rugged, so we were glad to have a truck. The home could also benefit from a deeper cleaning in a few areas, including some dishes, the sliding door track, and the exterior where bugs had accumulated.Overall, if you’re looking for a peaceful, private lake retreat with great lake access and plenty of amenities, this is a wonderful choice.
