Whip's River House - 1850's Riverfront Home in Hamlet of New Baltimore

Transport yourself to a magical 1850's home in the tiny hamlet of New Baltimore. With over 200 ft of Hudson River frontage, it's a short walk through the back yard to the enjoy the private riverfront.

Located just over two hours drive from NYC, come make S'mores in the backyard fire pit, take a 5-person paddle boat ride or get cozy in the living room by the wood burning fireplace.

The home sleep 8. There are three bedrooms on the second floor. The primary bedroom has a king-sized bed, river views and ensuite jacuzzi bath. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and views of the Hudson and the nature preserve across the river. Bedroom 3 has two twin beds and faces a beautiful historic home from a bygone era.

Bedroom 4 is downstairs with an adjoining bath and shower, river views and an entry to a covered porch with comfy seating.

The glassed-in upper porch is ideal for bird watching or simply sipping on a cup of coffee while taking in epic views.

The house is exactly as advertised, and the views are incredible. There are more activities than you have time to complete. The hosts were wonderful and responsive— they provided great kid friendly suggestions for breakfast and dinner locations.

A writer's dream!

Our group of four poets and novelists was looking for a week-long retreat site. This proved to be a magical, inspirational location. Big enough for us each to find our own silent work spot (usually our rooms, but also outside); intimate enough for fun dinners in the kitchen and craft conversations in the living room. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of equipment and staples (best I've seen in a rental). The bedrooms and bathrooms are very spacious, comfy, and full of great linens. Two porches offer many comfortable chairs and sofas, with amazing views of the yard and river. Overall, this is a home that has been so thoughtfully planned and curated for comfort, functionality, and relaxation.The neighborhood is quiet, filled with historic homes and not much activity, but that's why we picked it. "Dreamy" was a word we used again and again. It felt like we'd gone back to Mark Twain's time, but with modern amenities. The Hudson, a working river at close range, contributed to this feeling.Our host, Jennifer, was so kind and easy to reach with questions. We would definitely return!

Another Fantastic Stay

I can't say enough good things about the property and the Hosts. Jennifer is just an absolute pleasure and so easy to work with. The property is just great. Quite, great setting on the river, and 7 minutes to any store you need. This is our second extended stay with another soon to follow. No matter where your from this place just feels like home. 10 out of 10!!

Everything about my experience was perfect! The house was like stepping back in time but with all the modern amenities. So much attention to detail to make sure our stay was comfortable. Wonderful hosts! I’ve stayed at a lot of places through VRBO and this was definitely one of the very best!

Relaxing Labor Day weekend on the Hudson River

My 2 girlfriends and I, along with our husbands, spent the Labor Day weekend at this lovely house on the Hudson River. It was well appointed, including small touches like cotton balls and razors in the bathroom, towels for the little rocky beach that’s accessible in the morning at low tide, and a lovely bottle of wine on the table when we arrived. The great view of the river was so relaxing and we found ourselves outside frequently on one of the large porches. Jennifer was also great to work with. Highly recommend!,

A very lovingly updated 19th c home directly on the Hudson River with stunning views! We were 3 couples away for a wedding and the house suited us perfectly. A large, Sunny well-equipped open kitchen/dining area that served as our main gathering area. Plenty of space For each couple to have privacy

We cannot wait to return!!!

I cannot say enough about this home! We felt like we were visiting the home of family, not strangers. It’s the perfect balance of historically whimsical charm and chic, classic modern comfort. The entire home was thoughtfully appointed from the fully stocked kitchen and coffee nook to makeup towels and soft linens - even the fluffy throw blankets in every corner. You will not lack for things to do both inside the home and outside. Everything was carefully labeled in such thoughtful ways, you never found yourself thinking “how do we turn that light on?” There was even a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and lighted garland on the banister! Jennifer and Eric were responsive, kind, and incredibly helpful. We cannot wait to return in warmer weather!! Thank you, Jennifer and Eric, for sharing your gorgeous home with us! Classic mid-nineteenth century Hudson River Valley waterfront house. Having grown up close to this town I should know. If you are thinking of moving from a big city to a rural hamlet in the Hudson River Valley, this place is a must.

Amazing place!

Great location, very quiet! Great view of the Hudson River. THE BEST stocked rental I’ve ever stayed at as far as kitchen supplies, toiletry, and charging accessories. Eric and Jennifer are very responsive to questions and work to resolve any issues you have immediately. Awesome people, awesome place, we will be back!!

I most enjoy the beauty of the neighborhood and the tranquility of this little street. The most dominant sound you will hear is the songs of various birds including cries from majestic bald eagles. Seeing these birds soar by always takes my breath away.

Watching pleasure boats, barges, tankers, kayaks and canoes to up and down the river is alway a very enjoyable activity. We have a kayak and a 5-person paddle boat available for guests should you want to get out there and join them!

This property is magical, there is no other way to describe it. It is warm and inviting and super comfortable and the perfect place to get away from it all.

When you want a great meal or excellent shopping, there are many cute towns a short drive away including, Coxsackie, Athens and Hudson.

For the winter sports lovers, there is great skiing, snowboarding and tubing nearby at and Hunter Mountain and Windham Mountain Club. Hunter Mountain also features New York Zipline Adventures Tours. These tours are offered year-round and this is the longest and highest zip line in North America.
