Cottage de charme dans la belle Howth, à 20 minutes du centre-ville de Dublin

Notre charmante maison de 2 chambres de 125 ans, lumineuse, accueillante et magnifiquement rénovée, se trouve au-dessus du village de Howth, surplombant le port de Howth et Ireland's Eye, l'île emblématique à l'extérieur du port, à seulement 15 km du centre-ville de Dublin.

Howth est le joyau pittoresque et récréatif de la région de Dublin, assis dans une péninsule vallonnée du côté nord de la baie de Dublin avec une vue imprenable sur la baie au sud et la côte au nord. Le port, avec ses deux jetées populaires, comprend un port de pêche en activité ainsi qu'une grande marina, et est un lieu de navigation important. La péninsule possède un large éventail de magnifiques sentiers de randonnée pittoresques sur les collines et autour des falaises, et est populaire auprès des ornithologues amateurs.

Nous croyons que notre maison a été construite en 1895 ou avant, mais elle a été agrandie et entièrement rénovée et comprend toutes les commodités modernes. Il est lumineux et frais, avec 2 chambres pouvant accueillir confortablement 4 personnes, une salle de bain complète, un salon et une cuisine / salle à manger lumineuse entièrement équipée donnant sur le jardin. La surface totale au sol est d'environ 1 000 pieds carrés. Le jardin comprend une terrasse / patio et offre une vue sur le port de Howth et l'Ireland’s Eye. L'avant de la maison dispose de 2 places de parking.

La maison est à 300 mètres du village de Howth, y compris les magasins, l'église et le service de bus pour le centre de Dublin; 0. 4 milles de Howth Harbour; 0. 7 miles (12 minutes à pied) de la gare ferroviaire de transport en commun rapide DART desservant le centre de Dublin et les quartiers sud de la ville; et 8. 9 miles du centre-ville de Dublin.

Howth possède 2 beaux parcours de golf, de nombreux excellents restaurants et le château de Howth du XVe siècle qui comprend ses célèbres jardins de rhododendrons sauvages, ouverts au public en été, et le National Transport Museum of Ireland. Comme on peut s'y attendre dans un port de pêche, de nombreux restaurants sont particulièrement réputés pour leurs fruits de mer fins. Howth possède également plusieurs pubs bien connus, dont l'Abbey Tavern, qui est réputé au niveau national pour le folk irlandais et la musique traditionnelle, et à seulement 5 minutes à pied de notre maison.

This is a lovely home just a few mins away from the coastline with access to some great restaurants and fantastic scenic coastline. Very comfortable beds and a nice spacious kitchen and bathroom.

We loved our stay at this Howth cottage. The cottage and the town are lovely. We wish we could have spent more time there, rather than travelling back and forth to Dublin for booked activities. Wonderful place to stay near Dublin. Howth is a gorgeous harbour town with lovely walks and restaurants. Dublin is within easy reach on the train, with the station being only 1km away on foot. The cottage is very well appointed and clean with an excellent information manual on appliances and the general area. Communication with Peter and Orla was excellent. We were very comfortable here for a week. (There was no BBQ)

Peter, owner and Orla, property caretaker were very responsive to our questions and helpful with information. Peter had an extensive handbook which answered any question you might have. Property was well located with walkable distance to restaurants and the DART station. Parking was tricky, but we were able to get a Volvo XC60 in the space. Peter provided parking options ahead of us arriving so we knew what was in store.

Wonderful site for exploring Howth. It is just far enough away from the busy tourist zone to avoid the noise while still being walking distance to pubs, restaurants and hiking trails. Amenities (groceries, etc) are all nearby.

Lovely location overlooking the harbour.

The family enjoyed their stay here. Hiking trails just outside the door were a great asset. Just a short walk to the harbour and the Dart station and all the amenities for a pleasent stay near at hand.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The owners were very quick and helpful with communication and the home is very comfortable and full of charm. We loved the location and being able to walk easily to the main area of Howth. The best night of our trip was listening to live music down the street at McNeill's and chatting with a local family. We had a great visit and would love to return someday.

We had an amazing stay at Peter's place in Howth! The location was perfect! We walked everywhere! The cliff walk was breathtaking; the townspeople were awesome; the food in the pubs was delicious! We took a cooking class at the Howth Castle Cookery School, which was fabulous! The class started off with two hours of deep sea fishing off Ireland's Eye! Truly fantastic! We then learned to cook our catch---so fun! We wish we had planned to stay longer in this wonderful beautiful town! Peter's place made our time here so easy and memorable. It's walking distance to everything, including the train into Dublin. His place is clean, cozy, and comfortable, and comes with a washer and dryer! It had everything we needed, including comfy beds! We so hope to come back one day! Orla, the property manager is awesome too!

The BEST stay ever

My daughter and family live in the next town over and her in laws stopped by and were so impressed! It’s open…easy to get to from DART or bus…everything you need for a home away from home!

We had a wonderful time in Howth. This is a great apartment situated in a great location. Getting to the apartment was easy and the check in straight forward. The host was very helpful and provided good information for the stay.Howth is a wonderful town, lots to see and enjoy, some great fish restaurants on the harbour side. Transport into Dublin is quick, reliable and cheap. Would definitely stay there again.

We are Peter and Jane Ahern. We both grew up and were educated in Ireland. We met when we both worked for the Irish government’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA Ireland), and got married in Dublin. Soon after that, we moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where we have lived for many winters! Our two children live and work in the Cleveland area but, from numerous visits though their lifetimes, they both know every inch of the Howth peninsula!

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Jane grew up on the Howth peninsula and her mother and brothers still live there. Over our years in the US we have spent many wonderful vacations there with family and friends, enjoying the spectacular scenery and great social life. It was our dream to find a house in Howth, and when we learned that this wonderful house was for sale in 2003, Peter made a quick trip to Ireland and, after a few quick phone calls with Jane back in Cleveland, immediately bought it. It was perfect!

Our Irish home is full of character, over 120 years old but with every modern amenity, in a quiet street, but still within a short walk of all of the attractions of Howth Village and Howth Harbour with their restaurants, pubs, Yacht Club, shops, pier walks and marina.
