Las Pergolas Villa Rural
YOUR GETAWAY IN LANZAROTE
â
With the original layout of an 18th century finca, the villa was completely restored and enlarged by one of the most notorious architectural designers and environmentalists of the island in the early 70s of the last century in the Cesar Manrique style that made the island famous.
It has recently undergone significant renovations and adaptations aimed at modernizing it, although preserving its unique character.
Located within a walled land of almost 7,000 m2, the villa enjoys stunning garden and ocean views and is located minutes from the airport, with the main touristic attractions and famous beaches within easy reach.
The architecture of Las Pergolas reflects that of the island, influenced by its climate, where white predominates to prevent temperatures in the interior from increasing too much. Terraced roofs, enriched by chimneys in the form of hats and cupolas, were used to collect rainwater that was then directed towards the still existing aljibes (cisterns) for daily use. Ceilings and structural elements see extensive recourse to timber and solid wood and the simple decorations inside include recourse to traditional pottery made with the island clay and elements made with palm-tree leaves, all according to original aboriginal techniques.
Las Pergolas offers abundant outside space to enjoy an unparalleled view over the touristic center of Puerto del Carmen and of the ocean. The property includes a swimming pool made in the typical local style and will soon be completed with a well equipped gym. Original breathtaking corners and common areas enrich the usability of the lush garden, where native bushes have been flanked by a selection of cacti, plants that made the island renowned among botanists.
Although the main villa includes other apartments separately rented, this property (named "Teguise") enjoys total privacy.
CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Recent renovations have aimed at maximizing the recovery, conservation and reuse of original materials as well as enhancing local craftsmanship. The carbon footprint of Las Pergolas has been significantly reduced by extensive recourse the most abundant resource in a desert climate. The sun is used for both, the production of photovoltaic energy (with accumulators) and hot water for domestic use, aiming at energy self-sufficiency. The constant climate of the Canary Islands, characterized by mild winters and pleasant summers (making them also known as the islands of eternal spring), paired with thick ancient rock walls, allow the villa to maintain a rather constant and pleasant internal temperature, with no need for energy intensive heating or cooling systems.
The consumption of the scarcest resource in a desert, water, is optimized through wastewater recovery, decantation and filtering systems which, together with rainwater recovery systems, help to irrigate the luxuriant garden.
The swimming pool, includes a âsaline electrolysisâ process, as a healthy and sustainable solution for water disinfection. The absence of chemicals in the pool, allows the reuse of pool water for the garden: when disposed, is directed towards an aljibe, where it mixes with recovered sweet water further reducing its saltiness, returning suitable for irrigation. Please note that the pool does not include any water heating systems.
Villa Teguise includes:
Large main bedroom (super-king bed) and bathroom

Separate garden dependance (configuration: two single beds or king bed) with bathroom and small kitchen
