This apt was FABULOUS!! We had plenty of space and privacy for 4 adults (2 couples). The apt was well equipped with everything we needed, including great AC for those warm summer days. Lucca was charming and fun with many great sites and restaurants. I can't wait to return for another stay!!

The perfect "base" & place to relax

The best location, beautiful view into the Amphitheatre from the living space. So easy to find. Thank you Bruno for a clean & well thought out property. Our children stayed in the mezzanine bedroom & enjoyed star gazing through the Velux window. As other reviews mention, it's 3 flights of stairs to the flat but that just added to it's charm for us (husband & I are not at all fit but we did these stairs 3 or 4 times each day which meant we felt better for filling our faces with amazing food all week).

Beautiful Lucca

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. It was a perfect fit of location and comfort. It’s exactly what we were looking for. The nice thing about this property is the evening sun does not come in the window like other apartments do so you can open the window and hear the sounds of the piazza! The AC also worked great to help us stay cool on those very hot August days. Bruno the host/owner is also the best too! He answers questions quickly and available after check in if you have questions. Thanks again! Michael and Sonia

We arrived late at night the owner Bruno was very friendly and met us at the agreed time. He was very helpful in advising us of the best places to eat etc. The apartment was lovely! better than the photos. Very large apartment and i loved the room upstairs which was so cosy . the apartment is very clean and smells fresh and has everything you need. The showers are very powerful also!. the view form the house is stunning looks over the centre piazza and you can see all the people eating and hear the music playing. will defiantly be returning. thank you Bruno ! :)

Fantastic Apartment In A Fabulous Location In Lucca

I find the prospect of picking a better apartment in Lucca very unlikely. My dad and I had a wonderful experience staying here for three nights in July. Bruno is the owner and he is a terrific dude but I will get to that later. First I will tell you about the place. The location is second to none, literally overlooking the anfiteatro, which is a version of a Piazza. Tons of activity in this area but you could definitely find some quiet on the inside of the apartment. The apartment is two full bedroom suites each with a separate bathroom. Both bedrooms had a king sized bed. The main bedroom was on the first floor and had ample space for storage and moving around. The one drawback of the place was that the second bedroom was a second floor loft style, which is common in Italy. It would be worked a bit better if I had been a bit shorter, but I managed just fine. The bathrooms were spotless and had great water pressure and hot water for days. There were three AC units in the apartment, which was clutch because it was like 90 degrees plus while we were there. The kitchen had all the typical appointments along with a dishwasher, which is rare for Italy. The apartment also had a washer and a drying rack which was certainly helpful. You don’t really need a dryer in the summer. The clothes dry really quickly in the heat. So, Bruno was such a great person. He offered to pick us up at th car park and help us get our bags to the apartment. Lucca is an old school walled city and you need a special permit to drive within the walls. This was a huge help, but Bruno came up biggest for us when it hit the fan on our way out of town. Our car broke down on the highway just outside of Lucca. We had just checked out and were on our way back to Rome. We pulled into a fuel station and waited for Hertz to send a tow truck. The tow truck driver refused to give us a ride to the Pisa airport, so we were virtually stranded. I dropped Bruno a quick line on What’s app and he immediately sent his friend Luigi who was a licensed car for hire. Luigi got us to Pisa airport where we picked up our replacement car and made it back to Rome in one piece. Thank you to Bruno for all he did to make our stay amazing. You get what you pay for in this game, and Bruno’s place was worth every penny. Stay here!!!!

We loved our stay at the apartment. It was just like the photos!

We spent 3 fabulous nights at the apartment. Bruno was away so arranged for a friend to greet us which worked out perfectly. The apartment was spacious enough for the four of us (2 adults, 2 kids) and it was wonderful to have 2 bathrooms and the bedrooms on separate levels. The second bedroom was a bit small for our 2 teenage boys who shared the bed but was cozy. Air conditioning in the bedrooms was perfect for the 35+ degree weather. The location was amazing!!! Looking out over the piazza was exactly as we hoped and great for the kids to see us down below if we went for dinner without them. The three flights of stairs to the apartment and stairs to the second bedroom wouldn't be suitable for everyone but was helpful for staying fit given the wine and pasta consumption. We would highly recommend the apartment and would love to stay again in the future! Jen & Andrew Canada

Wonderful aerie in Lucca !

The apartment is beautiful and well appointed. Tastefully done with all the extra details taken care of. Really, the only problem is the stairs. There are three flights of fairly steep stairs with high rises, so this apartment is not suitable for older people who are not comfortable climbing steep steps, which luggage or groceries. The owners could not have been more helpful, but it is a climb, under any circumstance. Otherwise, it is in the best possible location and the advice from the owners is accurate and very helpful. Lovely but for the athletic only. !

A perfect stay in Lucca

My husband and I wanted to spend our 30th anniversary in Italy, specifically Lucca . We had read so much about the city and wanted to see what it would be like to explore the city and surrounding sites on our own. We had been to Italy 5 years earlier on a packaged trip. It was wonderful but we wanted to do it on our own this time. We contacted a few places through VRBO. Most of the people got right back to us but the apartment that Bruno offered looked like the perfect place for us. It overlooked the Anfiteatro. The setting allowed me to enjoy my cafe americano each morning, watching the merchants start their day, and wine in the evening, people watching. One evening a group of people were singing Italian ballads. It was really beautiful. The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we could have asked for. The only drawback were the steps up to the apartment. I forget how many there were, but the first couple of times we went up them we were a little winded. After a day or so we didn't mind it though. They gave us more reason to enjoy the wonderful gelato! Bruno had wonderful suggestions for places to eat and even gave us the name of a driver we used to take us wine tasting one day. Bruno always returned voicemails or emails right away. He was the perfect host! If we are ever lucky enough to be able to return to Italy again, we hope we will be able contact Bruno and enjoy the beautiful city of Lucca!

THE best in Lucca

We had a wonderful time at Bruno and Iliria's apartment overlooking the Anfiteatro. The apartment is very comfortable with all of the amenities that we could have hoped for. The small touches were the ones most appreciated; coffee, tea, sugar, oil, vinegar and especially the umbrellas! This was the 4th stop on our Italian holiday – and although the other apartments were also very good, none provided those “little extras”. It’s the little things that count the most when you're far away from home. We found Lucca ideal for our day trips to Pisa and the Cinque Terre, and the city itself is captivating in many ways. We could easily have stayed within 100 meters of the walls of the Anfiteatro, everything we needed was close by. Wonderful restaurants (especially L’Angolo Tondo) fantastic gelato, good shopping, all within a few minutes’ walk. We couldn’t have asked for better. Sitting on the window sill as the sun sets and the lights around the Anfiteatro come to life one by one, with a glass of prosecco in hand is the best way to end a day – we will remember our time in Lucca with great affection.

Beautiful apartment in magical Lucca

We just left this wonderful apartment and I can't wait to come back. You are above the fray but get to watch the theatre. The view is beyond special. The apartment is spotless and well equipped and the bathrooms are spacious and modern. Restaurants and shopping are everywhere and there is a nearby train station if you can bear to leave. Bruno was great and we wish him much success but not so much we can't afford to stay here again, for longer than 6 days.

Lovely Apartment in Lovely Lucca

A friend and I spent 6 nights at this wonderful apartment in lovely Lucca, and we enjoyed every minute of it. The apartment is even more beautiful than the photos suggest: spotlessly clean, lovingly decorated, and very comfortable. The beds are excellent, the bathrooms are very nice. The kitchen was well-stocked and easy to use. The flat was quiet at night for sleeping. The washing machine worked well. The location is very central and is close to both the main shopping street and to one of the portals near the ancient wall that encircles Lucca. Here we rented bikes several times and whizzed around the city. Bruno met us at the train station and took us to the apartment, where he gave us maps and other useful information, including good restaurants and shops, plus the best places to buy gelato! There are 40 steps or so up to the third floor -- but that helped us burn calories from the luscious gelato that we bought regularly. We took a day trip to Cinque Terre and considered doing others, but we loved Lucca so much that we mostly explored this wonderful city. We especially liked sitting in the living room with a glass of wine and looking out over the piazza. Morning, afternoon, or evening, the square provided us with endless entertainment. Grazie, Bruno and Ilaria, for providing us with such a perfect place to stay. We would love to come back, and unreservedly recommend this apartment.

The perfect apartment

I hesitate to review this property as I'm afraid it will become so popular I could never again rent it! We were four friends from the US who stayed for two weeks in this well-appointed, comfortable apartment. The location was perfect for day trips to other locations, but I would have been content to stay within the walls of Lucca for the entire time.

We stayed in this apartment for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The pictures really do it no justice. A great apartment!

We stayed for 6 nights. The apartment is clean. The living room is comfortable and has a TV, although the English stations were not available. The kitchen is well equipped. The washing machine works well. The main bedroom is spacious with 2 windows and good lights for reading in bed. At night there is little or no noise, perfect for sleeping. The window in the living room overlooks the square. I enjoyed reading by the window with a glass of wine and enjoying the scene below. Bruno was great to work with. He picked us up at the train station, recommended several good restaurants and stopped by briefly with his wife to say good-bye. I would not hesitate to stay at this apartment again.

Great apartment! Become Lucchese for a week!

My 15 year old daughter picked this stylishly appointed apartment overlooking a scenic oval piazza, site of the old Roman amphitheater in Lucca, Tuscany. We have traveled to Europe on a number of occasions, staying in VRBO apartments, and this one is gracious in size, with a can't beat location. Walking distance to the Via Fillungo, Lucca's main mercantile street, just a couple of blocks from the Piazza Santa Maria and the North gate to the city where a bike may be rented from Cicli Bizzari for a never-to-be-forgotten ride around Lucca's Renaissance wall. Many fine restaurants, and places to buy typical foods and wines of the region just steps away. The apartment has stylish decor and furnishings, with all of the cooking, heating, luxurious bath appointments, washing machine, and everything needed to make a short or long stay comfortable. WiFi on premises worked flawlessly. Lucca is only 30 minutes from Pisa by train, and is a really beautiful city to use as a base of operations while in this part of Tuscany. It is a very affluent, vibrant, welcoming city, where we felt extremely safe at all times during our trip. The only regret we have is not staying longer. The owner Bruno was a gracious host, meeting us at the appointed hour to introduce us to Lucca and our apartment. He took time to coach us on restaurants, shops, and marked up a map to make sure we could get a good start exploring Lucca.

A Home Away From Home!

This apartment exceeded our expectations! We loved our stay there. It is in a great location... close to restaurants and shops. It's a short walk to the train station or the parking lot. The apartment is much nicer than it looks in the pictures. It's beautifully decorated, spacious and clean. Bruno and Ilaria were very helpful. They recommended great restaurants, shops and sights to see. It's perfect base for visiting places in Tuscany. We went to Cinque Terre, Pisa, Viareggio, Florence, Volterra and Certaldo. We were very happy with our stay in the beautiful town of Lucca and hope to return again one day!

A Month in Lovely Lucca

The location of this apartment was ideal for a fantastic visit in Lucca. The description was very accurate, but the apartment was even more lovely than anticipated. A bottle of wine welcomed us and the fridge held cold water. There were many pantry items there also.. The flat was fully equipped, very clean and such a wonderful location. The owner had many suggestions for activities and for locating all of the essentials. Very gracious and accommodating, they were more than helpful and were there if any questions or needs. The location was perfect as there were restaurants nearby, close to the market, shopping on Filungo, St. Frediano, access to the wall, etc. The owner left a notebook with many recommended activities and maps. It was lovely to have a map with clear directions to the train station, for example. Also, there were many books and guides in the apartment. The linens were lovely, thick towels and linen sheets. Washing machine and clothesline with pegs were easy to use as we're all of the other appliances. We wanted for nothing! There were a lot of steps, but I felt that climbing them simply justified my daily visit ti Gelateria Momo on via del Fratta. We also enjoyed eating at Ammodonostro on the same street. Another favorite restaurant was Osteria Miranda and a meal at Paris Boheme (near the Puccini statue) was always an event with Luis! My stay here was magical due in large part to the lovely modern well equipped apartment. Many thanks to our hosts and when I return to Lucca, this will be my choice of lodging.

Fairytale stay in charming apartment

Our family of four stayed in this apartment for a month this winter. From the very first moment when Bruno and Ilaria met us outside the walls of the old city and drove our luggage to the apartment building, we knew we had made the right decision. They are lovely people and couldn't have been more thoughtful and generous. We loved the apartment. It was light and airy with gorgeous tiled baths and skylights. It had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-equipped, the furniture was tasteful, and the place was spotless. The location was fantastic. We loved being right on Piazza Anfiteatro...there's great people watching and we even got to have a snowball fight there during a rare snowfall. We all felt very happy there and would love to go back someday.

A great Find!

This apartment is wonderful ------- very comfortable with all the neccessities needed for one's visit. The location is grand and the view of the square is fantastic. The kitchen is well equipped - having a dish washer and laundry room is a plus. We had a car and found a place to park outside the Wall that was free and the walk was easy. The apartment is up steps and lazy Americans are not used to that - however it is doable even for "out of shape" me. Lucca is a grand city - lots to see - and this apartment is in the midst of it all. We did day trips in the area. Also took the train to Florence one day --------- did the Cinque Terre one day as well. I would recommend the apartment to all of my travel buddies - it is a true find.

A week in Lucca

My first visit to Lucca was especially memorable in part to the lovely, comfortable apartment pictured here. The rooms were spacious and elegantly updated and well-appointed. The location was prime and our host extremely accommodating. Be aware there is no elevator if you have stair-climbing issues. For me, it was a plus as I needed the extra cardiovascular workout to offset the wonderful food and wine consumed on our daily adventures. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare our in-house meals PLUS a dishwasher and a laundry room. I will recommend this apartment to all my traveling friends.
