à propos de cet hébergement
Historic Home, Heated Plunge Pool & Grand Piano
Youâll be charmed by this homeâs fieldstone walls, a cozy wood stove, bubble glass windows, and dual staircases, spread across 2,700 square feet. No expense was spared on the interior design of the house, which features high-end furnishings throughout. For art and antique enthusiasts, original paintings and artworks adorn the living spaces, adding warmth and character to every room.
You will be wowed by our brand new heated state-of-the-art Soake plunge poolâa true luxury amenity perfect for year-round relaxation. Adjacent to the pool is an incredible outdoor patio, thoughtfully designed with lush perennial landscaping and a large dining tableâideal for al fresco meals, morning coffee, or evening cocktails under the stars.
All around the property you'll find extensive landscaping that flourishes and grows more breathtaking with each passing year. Mature walnut, cherry, oak, and locust trees frame the property, and vibrant perennial gardens filled with lilies, daisies, peonies, Black-eyed Susans, spring daffodils and tulips, and more add seasonal bursts of color. In late summer, help yourself to the fruit from the concord grape vines, blueberry bushes, and the fig tree. Deer, turkeys, hummingbirds, and owls often make appearances.
The home's environmental impact is minimized by an energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling system. Water for the home comes from an artesian spring.
Living Room: Step into the stunning living room, just off the foyer, where a baby grand player piano beneath a glittering crystal chandelier sets the tone. Original paintings and a wood stove fireplace add to the ambiance. A large sectional provides ample seating for relaxation, and an optional king-size air mattress is available for larger groups. This is a stunning entertaining space!
Kitchen: The kitchen seamlessly marries modern design with historic stone walls and original Amish-made cabinetry. It comes fully equipped to meet your culinary needs, and you can savor your morning coffee in comfortable armchairs flanking an antique storage cabinet.
Dining Room: The dining room features a dazzling crystal chandelier from Arhaus. Adjacent to it, a butler's pantry provides ample storage and a brand-new full bathroom with laundry facilities.
Primary Bedroom and Bathroom: Ascend the back staircase to discover a private wing housing the primary suite. It boasts a king-size leather bed, a Roku TV, and a brand-new ensuite bathroom adorned with Carrera marble tiles.
Guest Rooms: Ascend the main staircase to access two comfortable guest rooms, each furnished with a king-size bed and a desk workspace.
WiFi and Audio Systems: The property is fully equipped with WiFi, featuring an Eero mesh network seamlessly connected to Comcast high-speed internet to ensure a smooth online experience. Furthermore, you can enjoy high-quality audio throughout the house, thanks to the Sonos speakers throughout.
Notable past owners and residents of the property:
- Capt. Jacob Krug: Co-founder and inaugural treasurer of Franklin College, now Franklin & Marshall College.
- Abraham Hershey Herr: Great-grandson of Hans Herr, the pioneering Mennonite Bishop who migrated to America.
- Samuel J. Atlee Jr.: Descendant of Revolutionary War hero Col. Samuel J. Atlee and Lady Jane Alcock, attendant to King George II's wife.
- John Miller: High Sheriff of Lancaster County (1785-1787) and Chief Burgess of Lancaster Borough (1799, 1805).
- Lt. Col. Jacob Shirk Strickler: State Assembly member (1797-1800), key in relocating the state capital from Philadelphia to Lancaster in 1799.
Other things to note
Please note that this house shares a driveway with an adjacent historic home where the owners or other rental guests may be staying.
A rental contract is required for every booking and will be sent to guests within the 48-hour zero penalty cancellation period.
Please be aware that this old house has a back staircase with uneven stairs, which may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues. We recommend guests with such considerations to take note of this before booking.
Pet Policy: We welcome well-behaved dogs! We recommend ensuring your dog is up to date on flea/tick medication prior to their stay. To maintain cleanliness, we kindly ask that all dogs remain off the furniture at all times, even those that are considered "non-shedding." When left alone in the house, we request that you crate your pet. If you plan to bring your pet, please inform us at the time of booking. A pet fee of $100 per pet per stay will apply.
Although the house is conveniently located near various amenities, it is also nestled in Lancaster County's renowned farms and fields. Please be aware that you may encounter some wildlife, such as ladybugs, stinkbugs, deer, turkeys, bees, wasps, frogs, moths, ticks, spiders, bats, snakes, etc., during your stay. Our dedicated housekeepers and pest control service work diligently to maintain cleanliness and tidiness. However, as the house is centuries old and situated in the countryside, the occasional encounter with wildlife or the scent of nearby farms is possible.

Ă propos de lâhĂŽte
HÎte : Leigh Profit
We are your Perennial Stays hosts, Leigh & Corey. We live in Baltimore City and have been married since 2010.
By day, Corey is an engineer, and Leigh is an accountant. In 2015, at the recommendation of some friends, we decided to earn a little extra money by renting out our primary residence in Baltimore while we traveled. We enjoyed it so much, we decided to branch out to our first property in West Virginia. In 2018 we purchased our second property in West Virginia â the farmhouse! Finally, in 2021 we decided to expand to beautiful Lancaster, PA â coming soon!
Leigh loves the design, hospitality, and marketing aspects, while Corey enjoys hunting for houses, renovations, and operations. A perfect match!
We look forward to hosting your getaway.
