10 Min Walk to Main St., Updated 1840s Historic Home, Stocked Kitchen, W/D,

You'll find all of the modern updates to the kitchen and baths in this 2BR 1.5 Bth home but the 1840s charm remains!

Along with the two bedrooms, there is an additional space to sleep on a fold down couch in Den.

We stocked the kitchen with a Thanksgiving meal in mind, so bring your culinary skills!

The porches are the perfect place to watch the world go by with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

The location is ideal for making your way to the shops and restaurants on Main Street. Leave your car and walk 8-10 minutes and you are in the heart of the fun!

Grant Park is just across the pedestrian bridge from downtown.

If you are looking to enjoy the outdoors, The river trail is just below Grant Park and you can kayak on the Galena River. There are kayak rental locations near the river. In the winter, there's skiing or hiking at Chestnut Mountain. We've got some brochures in our Welcome Book as well.

History is front and center in Galena-- so whether you check out the homes of President Grant, hop on
the Trolley Tour, visit the Galena History Museum or just walk around the Historic District, you'll feel like a step back in time.

There is never a shortage of things to do in Galena, no matter the season. We are happy to welcome you to this beautiful part of the world.

NOTE: The house is on a hill and there are a lot of stairs.

Very cute. Nice kitchen. Two bathrooms, one with a tub... Perfect for bathing the toddler. The antique phones were so cool!

This is a very clean and beautiful place to stay. It’s an old and charming property and well taken care of on the inside. Stairs up to the property are in bad shape, so be careful. Only street parking, but not a big deal. A huge bonus with just minutes away from downtown. We would stay here again.

Fantastic, charming home with lots of nostalgic details. The location to downtown Galena was perfect, just a short walk down the hill. The house was stocked with plenty of towels and linens. The beds were very cozy and there was plenty of room to spread out. Sipping a hot cup of coffee on the porch in the morning was a perfect start to the day and game night at the kitchen table was a blast. The light switches were all labeled making it very easy to know what switch to flip. Side note
there are quite a few steep steps that lead up to the house which might be an issue for some.

The property was so quaint! Loved the decorative touches that were authentic to a bygone era. Beautiful kitchen, easy parking right next to the house. It was easy to walk to the downtown area. We did note that it got a bit quiet and dark at night, but walking as a pair felt okay (wouldn’t have walked home alone). The only thing to consider about this place is that there are several steps to climb up to get to the entrance and the steps need repair, so probably not ideal for anyone who might have trouble with steps. Would stay again!

We had the best time. It was a reunion with my in laws. The kids grandparents. Meeting half way between Minnesota and Indianna. The home suited us perfectly!

The host made check-in so easy and the space inviting. Of course the "hike" up the outside stairs to the entry door was work....but we knew Galena is known for their hills and stairs! We walked all over town for tours, shopping and eating.

Lots of Personality

Charming, property with a great location! Walking distance to Main Street and easy to get to from US 20. There are some steps to climb from the street, so try to pack light! So many cute little touches, a porch swing and rockers, antique phones, comfy beds. We loved our stay, and would stay again!

The house was great! It was very clean, well stocked and decorated nicely. The beds were very comfortable. The location was ideal. It was close enough to downtown to easily walk, but far enough not to have to deal with parking/noise issues. The host was very nice and easy to work with. I would stay there again.

Main Street Shopping

Just a short distance from Main Street, the home has updated amenities and was inviting, clean and comfortable with plenty of space for everyone. Sitting on hill, there are quite a few steps from the street parking to the door. It was a very enjoyable trip and would recommend staying here.
