Loved the house! Truly canât think of a negative. Has almost anything you could need when on a beach vacation. The communication and information was plentiful and helpful. You can tell a lot of pride is taken into providing a positive guest experience. Staying here will not disappoint.
First off, the location was amazing...just a couple hundred yards away from the beach. It is a secluded neighborhood, so it was nice an quiet and the beach was never crowded, yet you are still very close to all that Myrtle Beach has to offer. The house itself was also great! Very spacious, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, and lots of "extra" items included (we especially appreciated the ice maker).
We loved our stay at this beach house! Everything was great from the house that was perfect for our family to the private neighborhood with private beach access to it sitting right on the lake! We had so much fun! Heather was great to rent from! Definitely would recommend staying here!
Stayed Saturday to Saturday in May 2025. House was well stocked with everything you could need. Portacribs, soap, towels, sheets, spices, even a dedicated icemaker. Very close to a private beach. Wonderful location. Hoping to book in 2026
Awesome home and location. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely look to stay here again. Thanks to Heather for her generosity and communication on our stay.
Everything was wonderful. Host was extremely communicative and helpful. The home was beautiful and had so many amenities and the location was perfect. Would highly recommend.
The property was perfect for our stay. Had a group of professional guys getting together for fellowship and golf. This home was perfect, even though the owner warned about the bunk beds which was a great gesture. We made it work and it was awesome. This home has all the amenities you need and near the beach, with a nice pond in the backyard. Only thing we forgot was our fishing poles, which would have been extra topping on the cake. All in all a great home, definitely recommend.
Great location, convenient to beach and Myrtle. House is well stocked and loved and perfect for a family or a few families! Front porch is huge and second favorite part of house (second to beach walkability).
We all loved this property! Clean and tons of room. Kitchen was well stocked which rarely happens when you rent a place. Would definitely stay here again with a big group.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beachfront property in Myrtle Beach over the Thanksgiving break. Our group of 10 fit comfortably with plenty of space for everyone to relax without ever feeling crowded. The kitchen was a major highlightâbeautifully stocked with everything we needed, plus two cooktops and a double oven. Itâs rare to find a vacation rental so thoughtfully equipped. The home itself is large, well maintained, and sits right on a peaceful pond, which added a relaxing backdrop to our stay. The location couldnât be better: just a short walk to the beach and right next to a state park with a fishing pier and scenic walking trails. We loved exploring the area each day.The host was outstandingâvery communicative and quick to respond to every question we had, which made the entire experience smooth and stress-free.Overall, this property exceeded our expectations, and we wouldnât hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!
The house was very accommodating, kitchen is well stocked for cooking a family meal, we met for Thanksgiving. Nice location, quiet neighborhood, close to the beach.
The house was perfect for our two families of 6. There was so many spaces for kids to play and parents to relax. We loved sitting on the front porch where you could hear and feel the ocean! The beach was an easy walk for everyone and we felt like we had a private beach (we went in September). Having the beach toys, chairs, and an umbrella there was so nice not to have to bring or get!
This place had everything we needed. Our family spanned all the ages from toddlers, teens to adults. The play equipment and sand area at the house was perfect for our grandkids when it rained or while we were BBQing. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to fix all our meals which saved us from going out to eat during the week we stayed. The porches provided a peaceful place to sit and catch up with family. We had no issues at all during our 7 day stay. Heather was quick with communicating check in procedures and answering our one and only question on our first day. We would highly recommend the Vagabond to others!
Our family of 5 adults and 2 small children (2 and 3) loved our time at Vagabond! What we liked the most: big shady backyard, pretty lake to enjoy canoeing, the swan couple and their baby, shaded play spaces under the house, 2 outdoor showers, huge front porch (with a great swing for naps and where there was always a breeze), well-equipped kitchen with plenty of dishes and cookware, quiet beach easy to walk to, close to stores, very clean, lots of games and beach toys. We all agreed it was perfect for us!
Phenomenal house and location! It doesnât get much better than a 1 minute walk to a neighborhood beach away from the hotels! The house was large with more than enough bedrooms, bathrooms, dining space, and kitchen space. We enjoyed the puzzles and games as a family and our kids loved the books and bunk beds. We didnât even get out on the lake but we will next time. It was so amazing to spend a day at the quiet beach and end it looking at the beautiful lake on the screened in back porch. The outdoor spaces were fun for all and it was nice having 2 outdoor showers to expedite getting everyone inside. Every interaction with Heather was so laid back and accommodating. She was a pleasure to interact with and even mailed us back a few clothing items we forgot. The check out process was wonderfully simple, too. We 100% will be back!
I can not say enough about this property! When they say something in there description and there welcome letter they are to the âTâ! You wonât need many household things⊠Papertowels have them, linens have them, toilet paper (1ply) have it, have pods for the dishwasher and dishes. Love the additional notes on the side of the fridge where great for our whole crew to read plus remind. Love the spice cabinet YES I said spice cabinet with family history. Bikes, canoe, beach toys, SO man things to say and definitely not enough time to list it all. We had two individuals differently abled with sensory issues and this was prefect for us!! I will say this is not handicap accessible, there are decent amount of stairs look at there photos if youâre unsure for those with gait/difficultly walking/climbing. Definitely a repeat place for us!!!! Thank you for letting your home be our home. The owners are amazing and stay on top of things plus responsive in a respectful amount of time.
We can't say enough about this property. Our group included 3 adults, 3 older teens, a 10 yo and a 2 yo. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, both inside and outside. The screened in back porch was a favorite place to have coffee in the morning and wind down in the evening. The large kitchen is better equipped than my own, and there are two dining areas. The beds and bedding are comfortable and there is plenty of dresser space in the bedrooms. I really appreciated that a port-a-crib is available. There are books, puzzles, games, bikes, toddler toys, and lots of beach gear to borrow. The kids loved taking the canoe out on the pond, and the flying fish added to the fun. The walk to the clean, private beach is just a few minutes and since it is only available to the neighborhood, it is never crowded. Returning from the beach to two hot, outdoor showers was a Godsend. Keyless entry means one less thing to worry about when trying to herd a bunch of people in and out of the house. Grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and the airport are all very close. The neighbors are nice. Communication with the owner was excellent. We were very happy during our visit and would book this property again if we were coming to Myrtle Beach.
We throughly enjoyed our vacation. We could not have asked for betterâŠâŠâŠ. Location, home completely stocked, cleanliness, private area, fishing, plenty of room for our family, great neighbors and wonderful communication from Heather. Thank you for sharing your home.
I'm a school librarian and sixth of nine siblings who inherited this property. In 2015 my husband and I bought out my siblings. The picture of me is from the beach when I was about 3 yrs old. l am holding a toy phone to my brother's ear. Please call me if you have any questions. I still like to talk! :-) My earliest memory of staying here is when my grandmother rented this house out but kept the master suite (the current Ship Mates'Room Hall & Bath) for herself as a getaway. We came to visit and had to sleep in a tent in the back yard.
My grandmother Elizabeth Sadler bought this house in her retirement as a pre-fab ranch in 1969. She made the newspaper for being the first house brought to the area on a tractor-trailer. She chose Long Bay for its quiet residential neighborhood and proximity to art workshops at Spring Maid Beach. You'll want to visit the art museum there. Many paintings in the house are from her years painting there along with my mother's who took painting classes there more recently. My father's, my daughters, and my artwork also grace the walls. Momma Bette as she was known, called it 'The Counting House' and she rented it yearly to military families from the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. In 1989 Hurricane Hugo hit and a neighbors bungalow knocked her off its foundation; thus, she became the 'Vagabond' (wayward traveler). Our father designed the additions and she was rebuilt on pilings according to FEMA guidelines. The Air Force Base closed in 1993 at which time she started renting weekly during the summer months. Siblings recently recalled special one-on-one trips with Momma Bette to the beach when they were young. (Obviously, to give our mother a break from so many children! đ) Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy it to this day. Momma Bette passed away in 2003 at 102 years old!
When we go down we find it most comfortable with two families and the grandparents.
We love the quiet atmosphere in our residential neighborhood away from the crowds, but if we want entertainment it's all minutes from our house. We love walking (the little ones run all the way!) to the pier for ice cream at the State Park. Murrell's Inlet is one of our favorite places to find local seafood. The Vagabond is a lovely peaceful place to get away from it all!
