We picked this place because we windsurf and wanted to be close to Lac Bay. We made a big mistake by staying here for 1 week. We should have stayed for 2 weeks! The location was perfect! Nice front patio where we had breakfast every morning. The bench on the waters edge directly across the road was great to sit and watch the windsurfing and wind wings. It’s in a quiet section far away enough from the main restaurants and shopping in Kralendijk. It’s 5 minutes to Jibe City and The Frans Paradise sailing centers. Perfect for a couple or a family of 4 as there’s a futon couch. We would stay here again!

A comfortable spot very close to wind surfing with some nearby eateries but distant from the hubbub of Kralendijk. The kitchen is functional -- even the much-maligned hot plate -- but definitely not luxe. The shower is hot and strong, and as promised, the wash quickly dries on the screened back porch and backyard laundry line. We appreciated the air conditioned bedroom with large screen TV and the quieter vibe. A very pleasant stay.

Love my "home away from home"

This is my second time staying in this comfy place and I plan to return. Great place to stay, especially if you are coming to Bonaire to windsurf, since it is located right on Lac Bay.

Needed Winter Break

This is a very nice property. There were a few very minor issues but Rob or Zwaantje once contacted were right on top of them. The view was fantastic looking out across a portion of Lac Bay.

The property was everything I wanted. Very private off the beaten path place. Lovely almost completely private beach with a great view. Everything was comfortable and the hosts were available and helpful. It is outside of town, we rented a vehicle, and that is how we like it. Very quiet. Has all that you need in the kitchen to cook. I will stay again. Loved it so much

Overall we really liked the place!! We loved having the space to was and store our dive equipment and being so close to the water was fantastic!! The community of neighbors was amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to prepare your own meals. We have a little miscommunication getting into the property, but it was resolved quickly - just make sure you receive a code before your trip. Mattress was a little hard for us so if you are sensitive, check in with property managers as they said they were looking into some upgrades.

A piece of Heaven on Bonair!

Lac Bay Casita #1 was comfortably furnished with sea-themed amenities, and provided a beautiful focal point for our windsurfing vacation on the quaint island of Bonaire. The casita was within easy driving distance of not only our primary windsurfing interest, but also allowed a superb view of Lac Bay and mangroves immediately across the minimally traveled road. And, the property was within easy driving distance of other scenic natural attractions on the island such as kayaking-snorkeling tour of protected mangroves, Queen's Highway ocean rim tour, and wilderness drive through Washington-Slagbaai Nat'l Park. Also, the nearby towns of Kralendyk and Rincon offer scenic man-made beauty, if desired. Most of all, enjoy the rest and relaxation afforded by being on priceless Island time. Cheers!

Location, Location, Location

Great location right across from Lac Bay Beach with a lovely view of the water from the front porch. Very quiet and safe area. Close to Sorobon Beach if you are a windsurfer. Cute unit shares common grounds with five others. Neighbors we met were very nice. In a rural area with not much around it, so very tranquil. At the same time, a restaurant and bar, Foodies, is just up the road. We cooked on the grill had our meals in the back screen room every night. Cocktails on the porch in front with lots of hummingbird watching. I recommend Lac Bay Casita 1 highly, with a couple of caveats: the AC unit is in the bedroom and it doesn't really cool the whole house. But with all the windows and doors open the breezes keep it comfortable. Lac Bay Beach is great but you can't really swim there as it is so shallow. One of the neighbors had a big, annoying brown dog who had the run of the place. He was friendly and didn't bark but he pooped in the yard. To their credit, the manager did swing by and talk to the owner. Finally, as of April 2025 the pictures on VRBO are out of date and some minor decorative elements have changed; the two built in couches are now a futon and two hulking recliners and the cactus fence was replaced with a stone wall. Also, the only thing we could get on the TV was Netflix but you don't come to Bonaire to watch TV, especially the you have that view of the water! Had a great stay and would gladly return!

We have been on Bonaire at least 8 times if not more, always rented a house but this is the first time that experienced the property amenities were not as described. A cooked top is terrible, it took an hour to cook an egg, about 30 minutes to wait for water start boiling in a tiny pot so there is no question about cooking and we rented a house so we can cook at home during the COVID time. None of TVs worked, checked batteries in remotes and those were leaked (have pictures), we tried to change batteries but that did not help because TVs did not have an input. Beddings was probably clean but did not have a clean smell to it. Thank God we brought our bedding. If those issues did not exist I would say it is a nice place to stay. We are divers so a great set up for cleaning divers equipment, great location, the house is spacious enough for two people. Would we stay there again - No. we did not call the management because our phones do not work on Bonaire, secondly I am not planning to spend time on discussing issues during my vacation. I can not submit my review without rating management but just want to make it clear that there was no communication. If they rent a property and charge money, the house should be ready before people get there.

Dear Julia We are very sorry for your experience. We have communicated back and forth by email before your arrival and upon your departure, it's a shame you did not reach out to us during your stay as we would have reacted swiftly as well. We would have made sure to do what was needed, bring a new stove, redo the bedding. Agreed, it should not be necessary to start with. Nevertheless, we would have solved it and there would not have been a discussion about the matters at all. We will be addressing the issues as you describe and we thank you for your feedback.

In schöner Umgebung übernachten

Sehr schönes Apartment mit sehr guter Einrichtung in angenehmer, ruhiger Lage. Einzig ein wenig Baulärm vom Nachbargebäude - hielt sich aber in Grenzen - und eine laute, lange Feier dort am Swimmingpool über Weihnachten. Ein Auto ist jedoch unbedingt notwendig, wenigstens Elektroräder oder Motorbike. Lädt zum erneuten Besuch ein!

Very relaxing

The location is superb. Foodies down the road. And the neighbors are very friendly. Suggest an ebike for around the island worth end past red slave and the light house in a big loop. Also a rental car. The wifi was superb and working remotely was a breeze. Facing sunrise. There is a bench and a beach you can usually be alone at. This is a very private and relaxing location. Great for introverts. Fresh coconuts. And the wind rustling through them. Bright orange oriols sing on top of cacti out front. And parrots squabble about. The wind is blocked by mangroves across the street. A small harbor leads to the bigger one with picnic tables. A wedding venue at times. Donkeys walk the streets.

Bonaire getaway Nov, 2021

The location of our Casita was PERFECT and the neighbor Jodie was very helpful plus from the same State that Debbie grew up in (Missouri). The only issue truly had and really was not a big deal was that the toilet would run and leak a little but other than that TOTALLY ENJOYED. Location was Perfect and the Island very easy to get around and the Diving was GOOD. Made friends with a shop owner couple down in town and will be Friends I believe forever. Definitely will be coming back.

We LOVE this place!!!

This is our 5th year staying in this house, and as soon as we can we'll book for next year. This place has everything we need and want for a comfortable vacation - a big, comfy king bed, a screened in back porch for breezy bugfree evenings, a kitchen filled with everything you might want for vacation style cooking, and the washing machine is a HUGE plus. The front porch, with views of Lac Bay and the flowering plants in the front garden, is the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee. Haven't even checked out the cable tv because there's so much else to do on this magical island. The management has always been very responsive to any questions or issues we had. Located about a mile to the windsurfing beach at Jibe City. Be sure to check out the restaurant at Lacbaai, just a few hundred yards away from the casita, for one of the best lunch experiences on the island.

Casita 2 is a Relaxing Joy with Many Extras

My husband, who is a windsurfer, and I stayed at Casita 2 at the end of March and we were very pleased with the property. It is on Lac Bay, a 3 minute drive away from the windsurfing area, so it is very easy to go back and forth - either to eat, change, or pick up the things you forgot. You can also walk to the windsurfing area in 15-20 minutes if you choose. The part of the bay it sits on is not very swimmable, but it provides a lovely view and a great breeze.There is a nice area to sit out in front of the Casita, and a hose for washing your diving/snorkeling equipment. Inside, the living area is utilitarian -not much furniture, but just what you need. The kitchenette has a refrigerator, stove, and a clothes washer as well as small appliances including a toaster and a blender. (Tip1: don't tip the blender upside down without the cover on to pour it out or the Ninja blades will fall out and get you! Tip 2: use google translate to decipher the Dutch controls on the washer.) The bedroom had a very comfortable kingsize bed, and plenty of storage in a bureau and closet. There is a large screened patio with a picnic table out through the bedroom in the back. The bedroom is air conditioned and there are ceiling fans in the apartment as well. What was really great about the apartment was all the extras the owners generously provided including big fluffy beach towels, extra sheets, grocery bags, an inflatable paddleboard, and bicycles (but you will need to be tall to ride them.) There was also reliable internet access and cable television and a music system. The Casitas are a 10 minute drive from Kralendijk, and in a remote area, so you can't go walking outside at night. But you can sit outside and enjoy the stars, the breeze, and the "wild" donkeys that come to visit. As another added bonus, there is a good restaurant next door as well. We would stay there again if we ever get the chance, and we recommend it to everyone who wants to be near Lac Bay (which, by the way, also has some of the best snorkeling on the island.) Thanks for the great stay!

Rob Laurant and Zwanet Kooij are the property managers of this vacation rental, the owners are a great couple from the US who chose us to manage his Bonaire residence, to care for it and receive some revenue as well. They know how to enjoy life and love the island of Bonaire, and they have been our valued client for many years and enjoys using their home away from home regularly.
The picture shows me (Zwanet) kitesurfing - my biggest passion and favorite pass time on this lovely island. I moved to Bonaire in 2001. Rob enjoys touring the island and diving. He moved to Bonaire in 2000.
We both live here full time together with our significant others, who have also been on Bonaire for many years.
We both have been working at Paradise Rentals since 2005, this property management company is part of RE/MAX Paradise Homes, the local real estate office.
