The first disappointing factor was you could not access the beach from the front balcony. You had to walk across the parking lot to a wood walkway. The living room furniture was stained from dirt and the queen mattress was very uncomfortable. It was sunken on one side and a big lump in the middle.You had to stop at Realtors office to pick up a paper parking pass that easily could have been left in the condo. Then I received a text message to return it before we left.The view was nice but that was it.

Beautiful views! Right by the pool and short walk to beach access! Rental itself is nice and clean. Has everything you need and the covered parking spot is super nice! A few cons would be the beds are not very comfortable, frame is noisy and the washer/dryer is outdated. The washer/dryer does work however and was nice to have in the unit! The deck could use some love, need sanded and repainted badly and some places need new screws/bolts for safety. Overall we did really enjoy our stay, the location is quiet and not crowded. The views are gorgeous and it’s easy access to plenty of things just down the road! Check in was easy and communication was quick!With some simple updates (mainly the bed) we’d stay here again for sure!

This was a perfect size condo for our family of four! It was right on the beach-the least busy side! There were two beach access walkways only 2 min walk on either side. There was an outdoor pool right out the back door and the indoor pool was right across the street and beautiful! The gym in the rec center was also nice but there were very limited free weights and no water. Our condo was very clean and had everything we needed to cook. We just had to get the condiments and cooking spray. Definitely bring soap, shampoo and maybe even some Clorox wipes. We needed extra TP and paper towels which were communicated prior to arrival. The washer and dryer were nice to have and we brought extra laundry pods. Dishwasher pods are also good to bring and maybe a sponge and dish soap. Definitely bring your own beach towels. It was very convenient to everything- especially the aquarium. Nice little getaway.

Nice property but property and furniture showed it had not been refurbished since stated 2019 remodel.Cooking equipment was good for what we wanted to do, altho nonstick pans show excessive wear. Beds soft. Floor plan very nice. Great beach and ocean view...but access was 2 buildings away. Ceiling fans would have been a bonus.Checkin process with Bryant Realty could have been easily handled online without a required stop at their office before going to condo.

Great little getaway

Other than a minor hiccup of not having linens and towels at the time we arrived (and this was addressed very quickly by the rental agency), the stay was great. The property was clean. The ocean-front view was phenomenal. Beach access was easy. Location was convenient (just a few short minutes to Fort Fisher and the Aquarium). I would definitely look at returning to this site inthe future.

A little beach paradise on the Atlantic.

Everything was as expected and wonderful. It was as if we had lived there forever. We did have to wash the patio doors for a better view, no big deal. Seeing sunrise over the ocean from my bed was particularly magical. The area was low key and nice and quiet.

Condo was decorated nicely, and furniture was comfortable. TV worked well and so did the internet. This Condo is really nice, just a few simple things need fixed. The walk to the beach was a little longer than we prefer, but not horrible. The pool is a nice way to cool off.

Great views out to Ocean and towards pier (end unit window). We like to leave things as we found them. Only issue vacuum needed to be emptied. Broom worked just fine!!!

Great location.

The mattress in the master bedroom is terrible and needs replaced and the sofa has no padding in the cushions. The sliding door either needs to be replaced or greased as it is very hard to open and close and the vents are rusted out and dangerous. The only way we would stay there again would be if all of the items were fixed.

The fresh linens were really refreshing. The kitchen needs more utensils/serving spoons, wine glasses etc. though. Our overall stay was really good and relaxing. Only 1 disappointing thing was that when we asked for late check out, they were going to charge us some $30 for an hour. although the amount is not big, it didn't feel right as we had already paid so much.

Had a great stay! Just an old property that needs some attention.

Everything was just as stated. Only a few minor suggested improvements. The bed needs to be upgraded. Balcony door and windows need to be cleaned (I cleaned the patio door as best as I could). Some of the pots weren't very clean. The dish strainer was just plain gross. The kitchen waste basket needs to be replaced. Just little things.

Winter Getaway

My elderly parents, husband and I (all senior citizens) enjoyed 3 nights in this oceanfront unit with terrific views of the ocean. My dad enjoyed sitting in the recliner and watching the pelicans fly over. The home fit our needs with the well appointed kitchen, walk-in shower, fresh linens, only one flight of stairs to enter, and lots of peace and quiet. Check-in/Check-out procedures were a breeze. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the greatest, but we made the best of it by exploring the nearby aquarium and taking the Fort Fisher Ferry to Southport and back. I would definitely recommend this place but have one suggestion: some sort of curtain over the blinds in the twin bedroom. The lights from the outside stairs are very bright.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great beach vacation and very much enjoyed our stay at Surf's up. I would certainly consider staying again. The location is perfect: oceanfront, close to beach access, and close to the pool. The property is updated and we were very comfortable there. My recommendations for the owners would be to replace the master bathroom mattress (it's horrible), and replace the vent covers on the floor which are super rusty (my kids fell on these a few times). I would also note the slider (to go on and off the deck) was extremely difficult to open/close and needs to be addressed. Overall, very happy with my stay!

We work with the individual owners of our units to provide suggestions and make improvements to their properties to continually improve the property year after year. We will have our maintenance team take a look at the slider to make it more easily maneuvered. **UPDATE: As of 10/07/2022 the owners have replaced the mattress in the master bedroom**

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at Surf's Up. The apt was clean and tidy. We enjoyed being close to the pool and being oceanfront. Our only recommendations are to repaint the porch and change out the rusted registers inside the apt. The kitchen supplies were adequate and met our needs. We did not realize that we would have to walk down a few buildings to an access way to the beach. This is not a problem for adults however it is more of a challenge when you have children in tow.

Decent rental, needs better cleaning services

The location was great, nice ocean views, convenient to the pool area, and beach was not as crowded as when we stay in Carolina Beach. The condo was not cleaned well however. We have an 11 month old and within the first 10 minutes of being there her knees and tops of her feet were black from crawling on the floor. There was a load of laundry in the dryer. We had to push the twin beds together for our toddler to not roll out and when we moved the nightstand there were 15-20 wadded up tissues all behind it and the headboards. Other than the cleanliness it was a great size for our small family and you can’t beat the view!!

Quiet Off Season Visit

This was a perfect spot to get away. Location close to Fort Fisher and undeveloped portion of beach...making for nice long walks. Not a lot of people this time of year. Imagine in the height of the season the narrow beach may get a bit cozy. This unit is right next to pool - so convenient. And beach access a very short walk to end of building. The unit was bright and clean...loved the side bay window where we could sit and have coffee but enjoy the view on a rainy day, (rain comes thru decking boards above). Previous review about utensils is spot on - definitely need to update....knives dull (sharpener didn’t help), cutting board wore out, and no rubber spatula. But these were minor inconveniences for us and we enjoyed the space.

I will let the hospitality department know about those issues and take care of them right away. Please know if you ever need something, we keep a stocked closet of items like that at the beach office that can be delivered to you, no problem! We hope you will consider staying here again!
