Tucked in a quiet family neighborhood between Medicine Lake and downtown Minneapolis, this cozy Golden Valley space offers easy access to everywhere while still feeling like a peaceful retreat at the end of the day. Attentive, welcoming hosts and small touches—like convenient amenities and thoughtful details throughout—help guests feel cared for from the moment they arrive.

This 1-bed, 1-bath vacation rental situated in Golden Valley is ideal for romantic getaways, solo travelers, or work retreats. This apartment boasts modern amenities, like free Wi-Fi, a Smart TV, and a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy the flat-screen Smart TV and fast Wi-Fi so you can stream your favorite shows. Sign in to Roku's guest mode and have all of your favorite channels ready to go. Or fire up the laptop and work with ease at the provided desk. Homemade meals are made easy in the property's new fully equipped kitchen.

Come bedtime, start your nightly routine in the spacious bathroom outfitted with a shower/soaking tub combo and light-up magnifying mirror. Up to 2 guests will enjoy nights of blissful sleep on the queen bed. The full-sized sleeper sofa can also accommodate another 1 or 2 - both beds have memory foam mattresses. And if bedtime is during the day, enjoy the light-blocking curtains.

Significant discounts for longer stays - 15% for 7 days or more, 30% for 28 days or more. Stays over 30 days also benefit from Minnesota's tax exemption, making it cheaper to book 30 days than 29 days!

Notes:

- This is a private, self-contained apartment within our home. It has its own exterior entrance, designated off-street parking, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living room; no indoor spaces are shared with the hosts. (And it's on the main level!)

- The homeowners live on-site in a separate area of the house and are usually available if needed, while respecting guests’ privacy.

- The apartment is separated from the hosts’ living area by closed, insulated doors and has added sound insulation on adjoining walls.

- For everyone’s safety and security, exterior security cameras are in use.

- Laundry facilities are not available on-site; a convenient laundromat is located about three blocks away in a nearby shopping center.

The VRBO was clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our extended stay this summer. Barbara and Jim were quick in responding with all our needs during our stay. We enjoyed our trip so much we have already booked our next summer vacation at their place. Their neighborhood is delightful and made it easy to go for walks from the home or a quick drive to Medicine Lake.

This is one of the best places we have rented anywhere, definitely a find for us in Minneapolis. The design and layout are superb, an architect/builder's vision. Small, yet with a feeling of spaciousness, ideal really only for a couple. Barbara is a superb host, detailed and helpful. I do think the sofa should be replaced and not serve as a foldout bed. We love this place.

Great stay

So glad we found this place. I took my son to Minneapolis for a weekend of concerts, staying here was so much more relaxing and comfortable than staying downtown with the crowds. Everything we needed was provided, the place was spotless and the hosts were great.

Very updated property

The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The whole apartment was very updated. The neighborhood was very quiet and friendly. Well located from downtown Minneapolis. We really enjoyed our visit.

Our families have been in Minnesota for generations, since arriving from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Liechtenstein and Great Britain. You will see some old family photos that show some Minnesota history.

Jim has been a carpenter since the age of 13 and a remodeling contractor most of his adult life. Barbara loves family history, home-schooled some of our children and is the vice president in charge of the office and all technology for our remodeling business, Van Heel Dream Builders. We have six children between us, and nine grandchildren. We are now raising one of those grandchildren. We met each other in 1st grade!

We look forward to your visit! We are excited for you to see our brand-new Cozy Retreat. We hope you will enjoy staying here as much as we have enjoyed creating it.

We love meeting and getting to know our guests. We also love to travel, with Puerto Rico being one of our favorite places to go in the winter. Other times, we like to visit friends and family in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario, Canada and Utah.
