Great couple retreat for a few days. Loved that we were able to fish off boat and caught quite a few. Host was wonderful and gave great instructions for using the onboard electronics and facilities. Pets loved lying outside and enjoying the fresh air. Will be back for a return trip!

Thank you Patricia for an honest review. Recently a would-be guest gave my boat a scorching review not because the vessel was bad but because she had a beef with me when i did not answer her calls which i never received.. Most every one uses reviews responsibility but on ocassion someone will raise their head to show just how unfair they can be by saying how bad their experience was. They truly do give meaning to the old adage "the onion in the petunia patch"

Captain Ron is great with communication and any help you might need. The marina is secluded and quiet. GiaMaria is an amazing piece history. What a neat boat.

Capt Ron’s houseboat is wonderful. The history of the houseboat, the area as well as getting to know Capt Ron personally and through reading his book Bohemian Skipper made for a great weekend. Capt Ron was available when we got lost on the way, welcomed us with a tour and provided, what turned out to be delicious, nearby, restaurant recommendations. We can’t wait to return and spend more time getting to know Capt Ron. It’s rare to find the perfect VRBO and new friend! P.S. Our dog Copper loved the weekend too.

The houseboat was exactly as described and met as well as exceeding my expectations. Very peaceful, overlooking the river. The bed was comfortable and I love every minute of our stay, just wish it had been longer. We met Capt. Ron on our last night. He is a very nice man and loved talking with him. Wow, where do I start.. first off Ronald was very good at communicating I will give him that. However, the pictures on the listing are NOT what this houseboat looks like. I got a message from Ronald on Sunday that said the living area of the boat my be warm unless we arrive late afternoon.. that message also said to make sure we use the container of water in the bathroom to flush the toilet. Also, that we needed to cut the AC off I. The bedroom if we used the stove… that gave me pause but we still decided to go ahead and check it out. When we got there and realized which boat it was.. we were disappointed. The outside of the boat is literally falling apart. Spiderwebs everywhere.. railing rotting out just ridiculous. We went inside the parlor and immediately we were hit with the overwhelming smell of mold. The toilet was loose and the fact that you have to flush with a bucket of water is ridiculous. There are wasp in the boat and cobwebs. The pictures are not updated of this boat..if they are they are 20 years old. We do not recommend this rental. False advertisement for sure.

Short Weekend Stay

Very convenient location to Richmond but far enough away to be quiet and cozy. The boat is wonderfully decorated and the view of the river is wonderful. Captain Ron is a lovely and very helpful host!

An enjoyable stay

Bed was extremely comfortable and location was very quiet and peacefull. Staying on a houseboat was a unique experience for us and we had a good time. Host was very friendly and accommodating.
