Walkway to the apartment is not well lit or easy to find. The apartment was dirty, run down furniture, mold/mildew smell, not as shown in the pictures, and the electricity was shut off. The host claimed a prior guest had trashed the place. Host also claimed he cancelled the booking 3 days prior to our arrival. Everything about this host and apartment is BS. Strongly recommend VRBO remove the listing and if not, that you look for another place to stay. I would add VRBO was very patient and found us a hotel for our stay.

The property seemed great and checking in was easy. After I brought my stuff inside I realized there was no electricity in the apartment. I’m walking around there was several days of mail by the mail slot, dirty towels hanging in the bathroom, the bed was not made, and the refrigerator smelled of rotting food suggesting the power had been out for at least a few days. All of this suggested to me that there were no preparations made for my stay. I tried to contact the host and got no response for at least two hours at which time he told me that he couldn’t fix the power and I should cancel my stay. I was fully refunded for the stay but since it was late in he evening by then I had to pay for a hotel room that night and figure out alternate plan in the morning. Overall disappointing experience and poor communication.

Some pros and cons

What I liked about it: location within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Spacious space. Very well equipped kitchen and well supplied. Quiet neighborhood surrounded with big trees. What I didn’t like: having to climb up those stairs with my luggage, non functioning TV in living room, no close metro station (plenty of buses though), difficult to find parking space if you’re out late.

The apartment was peaceful and pretty accurate to description. Nice location within walking distance to stores. I lost the entry key after a week, Vrbo contact the host for me and I regained access promptly, host communicated continuously. However the television in the main room had a major defect that is not obvious until the tv is powered on. I contact the host immediately after discovery which was about 2 hours after my arrival. He responded the next day, mentioning major damage and claims. I asked for a replacement and it did not happen. There was minimal TV watched in the main room and that really put a damper on the trip. Host was dismissive and condescending and made it clear that he was not going to take a loss in revenue of which was not my damage.

Structure bldg is unsafe

There are 2 apartments in that bldg with a City Notification: “this structure is unsafe..” We didn’t feel safe staying there, open door of apartment and came out after 5 minutes. Owner didn’t call me back, just send text and didn’t give me any credit.

Family visit

Clean but construction on property during our stay 8 am to 5 pm business days. Lot of dust particles floating around. Not good if you have asthma. Hopefully not a problem for next occupants.

Great spot to stay for business. Cute area. The parking was hard at times, but never terrible. I would go again it felt safe.
