Stay comfortably in Mio at this remodeled schoolhouse cabin, which has so much history & charm! Nestled in the heart of nature, this serene and beautiful retreat offers a peaceful escape for guests. With 3 full beds, it's perfect for a family or group of friends seeking a cozy getaway. Enjoy the fresh air and unwind on the screened in porch, or on the new beautiful pergola deck! In the evening, sit by the firepit (we provide FREE firewood) and listen to the tranquil sounds of the forest. Bring your dog too! We are very pet friendly! You will love the outdoor shower, where we never run out of hot water. There are walking trails, ORV trails just up the road & the Ausable river is right around the corner. We are close to town, but yet set in a very private wooded 10 acre space. So come & immerse yourself in the magic of Mio at our charming cabin, where relaxation and rejuvenation await.

We are no longer allowing horses on our property as we have had issues with horse people being disrespectful & not following simple rules.

The owner and property manager both communicated wonderfully before and during our stay. A great location for lovers of dogs, horses and/or nature. When a technical issue beforehand rendered our rented cabin unavailable, they upgraded our stay to a better unit automatically. You won't find a fairer renter.

4th of July AuSable River trip with the dogs

We had a quiet cozy cabin. Plenty of room outside for the dogs to explore while we cooked on the deck. We took a short car ride to the AuSable river loop and found a quiet place on the river to have our two dogs play and swim as tubers passed by. Our hosts were at the bottom of the hill and able to assist with anything and still had enough privacy for ourselves. The horses were fun to watch and definitely took us out of the city state of mind.

Adorable spot!

I would say overall the cabin is very cozy and gives an escape from the city with town around the corner. The rustic feel of the amenities definitely gave it a great touch. The website sid say sleeps 8 but only had 3 full beds so the brothers had to share lol but between the bonfires trails and pet friendly place and great communication with mary it was all worth it and i would definitely come again

our weekend get away

Everything was so easy and fast, loved the area and the quiet space surrounding the house.The house was located close to everything we had wanted to do. Found the best ice cream and lots of choices to eat. Thinking about a fall visit to catch the fall colors and float down the river again. Mary was a pleasure to speak with and very helpful. Thank you for sharing your space.

I am a retired Occupational Therapist. I enjoy horseback riding and love riding in the beautiful Huron National Forest in Mio. We have the best location ever as we are close to everything. We are close to the ORV trail, 3 miles from the MTRA horse trail, 2 miles for a hiking trail and 2 miles from the Ausable River. We are only several blocks from downtown yet secluded in the woods on several acres of land. There is so much to do here. I love having guests come & stay at our tiny cabin and enjoys all that Mio has to offer. I have met some really great people who have become lifelong friends. Hosting has become a wonderful way of life for me.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Our location is just perfect. We are close to all the activities people are seeking yet we are secluded in the woods on several acres of land. The forest is just beautiful and listening to the birds and watching the squirrels and the occasional deer come threw is very relaxing and good for the soul. Many people who have stayed here in the past have also enjoyed watching my horses in their nearby pasture, while sitting on the outside deck in the morning and drinking a cup of coffee.

Everyone who has ever stayed here, has always said the same thing. They can't believe how secluded and private this place is and yet it is so close to everything. Everyone loves it here. We have owned this property for about 10 years, and I still love staying in our cabin and I still can't believe we are fortunate enough to own a cabin up north. I feel so lucky and blessed. I love sharing this beautiful place with our guests.
