The home was exactly as described on the site. The location was excellent—very convenient for walking to downtown and the theater. It was unusually cold during our stay, and there was a noticeable draft from the large window by the table. Additionally, the bedroom’s back door only had sheer curtains, which did not provide much privacy. We would definitely stay again.

It was so charming and perfect in every way! We didn’t want to leave. I didn’t realize it was the original Catalpa, which I had been there years ago. Then ironically we had dinner at their new location. Food was fabulous!Thank you so much for a beautiful experience!

The home was clean and cozy with an interior design that beautifully blended antiques with modern elements. Outdoor spaces were equally lovely, a perfect setting to gaze at hundreds of stars on a clear night. The location is great with an amazing coffee shop offering superb homemade goods within walking distance. The host was wonderful and very communicative as needed. I sincerely hope I can come back to Sweet Gum Cottage!

This place and town were HEAVEN. I was doing a solo trip just to escape for a little bit, plus to see a show at the Lyceum and I wasn't disappointed. The house was cozy, the bed comfortable and I had everything I needed. The overall vibe of the town was absolute quiet. It was bliss. Don't miss going to Catalpa (on Main street) - I stopped in after the theatre crowd was leaving and had an absolutely elevated dining experience. Liz (owner and chef) is amazing. As was the rest of the staff. Make sure to also go look at all of the historic properties! I'll definitely be back next year.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Sweetgum Cottage. The owners have done a beautiful job of decorating and providing most anything you could need. It's located just a very short walk to downtown and to the Lyceum Theatre.The screened porch and amazing courtyard are a special treat.

Despite the oppressive heat outside, it was cozy & cool inside the tastefully furnished Sweet Gum Cottage. The bed was comfortable & the bathroom, although small, had everything we needed including a roomy walk-in shower. I enjoyed flipping through the Arrow Rock Ink book. So much history of Arrow Rock about daily life from the 1800s to early 1900s.

This historic home was extremely well-furnished with lots of interesting decor and books to look at and a comfy couch. Each room has its own mini-split AC, and could control the temp separately. I loved the design of the kitchen with plenty of supplies for cooking and a coffee pot. The bed was so luxurious and comfy, it was perfect for the overnight stay. The patio was great for an early morning connect with nature, many birds singing. The bathroom vanity was a little small, but overall excellent with an updated shower. Would stay here again.

Sweetgum Cottage

Our stay was fabulous from the charming house to the quaint town. The Lyceum theatre was perfect as was our stay. We fully enjoyed ourselves. The owners made our stay wonderful.Definitely would stay again when in town. Thank you Arrow Rock.

A Charming Cottage

I loved my stay at this charming cottage! I wish I could have stayed longer than one night.. but it was perfectly located for me to walk to the theater and to town. The rooms are very clean and lovingly cared for, and the bedroom is very cozy with a beautiful, comfortable bed. This is an older home with a great deal of history .. it almost feels like going back in time; but the kitchen and bath have been wonderfully remodeled. I really appreciated that all of the linens were very fresh! The outdoor spaces are especially charming and welcoming. If you visit, be sure to rise early and have coffee on the screened-in porch, or the pretty little courtyard! So restful and lovely!

Staying at Sweet Gum was an absolute delight and the pics do not do it justice. This property is absolutely First Class in all ways. I was amazed at the extent and quality of the decorating and furnishings including a well-stocked kitchen with bone china! The furniture including the bed was very comfortable. The large leather sofa was my favorite. The location in Arrow Rock is also ideal, 1 to 3 blocks from any restaurant, coffee shop and theater. Finally, the owners were wonderful and very accommodating. Although we live in Florida, we hope to have another stay in Sweet Gum in the future.

Wonderful Home

My Husband and I enjoyed our stay in the adorable cottage. Center of town, enjoyed all that Arrow Rock has to offer. The home is very well appointed for. The kitchen has a plethora of all the tools one would need to cook anything. We only made coffee, everything is neat and tidy. The decor is wonderful and had we had more time I would have picked one of the many books and read on the screened in porch. I did have my morning breakfast on the side patio while listening to birds brighten my day. Highly recommend
