Wonderful property! it was perfect for our large family vacation. It was exactly as described in the listing. We hope to come back again next year!A few recommendations to keep the area top shape- Road in neighborhood needs to be paved badly. The neighborhood pool was dirty, run down and smelled of cigarettes. There were numerous houses in the neighborhood that had broken sprinklers and it caused huge puddles in the road. as an early morning runner it created numerous obstacles! Lastly the “private owners and guest only beach” was used by the neighborhoods outside of the Dunes of Destin. There were random umbrellas and chairs placed in front of the chairs we had paid for on the beach. We had something stolen from our chair so don’t leave anything in your chair or leave someone at your chairs at all times.

We had 15 adults and 8 kids for Christmas and the home didn’t feel crowded, it gave us all enough space to have our own areas. We loved being on the beach and the location!

Great House for Family

We took our family to Destin for a week and thoroughly enjoyed this house. Having a elevator in the home was definitely a plus. Probably would have enjoyed more shade on the pool/deck area but that's minor

Our stay at this beautiful beachfront home was absolutely perfect! The house was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed—exactly as pictured and even better in person. Every room was thoughtfully decorated and comfortable, making it ideal for a large family gathering. The private pool was a highlight—crystal clear, well maintained, and just steps away from the beach with breathtaking ocean views. We loved waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying morning coffee on the patio overlooking the water. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the open layout made it easy to cook, dine, and relax together. The host was wonderful—very responsive, accommodating, and made sure our check-in and check-out were smooth and stress-free.The location couldn’t be better—right on the beach, close to restaurants, and perfect for watching sunsets. This home truly felt like a private luxury resort. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, upscale beachfront getaway!

Beautiful House

My family, along with friends stayed here for 4 nights and it was perfect from start to finish! The location is perfect, 4 mins away from a grocery store and close to many main attractions. We are huge AC people, and had no problem staying cold during our stay. The beach area is awesome and right outside the back door. The complimentary beach chairs/umbrellas are a great bonus. We spent many hours in the pool and backyard. The only recommendations I can provide, would be to add more kitchen items to cook/prep with. Along with adding another umbrella outside by the pool area to cover the nice long table. If we return back to Destin, we will be staying here again!

Great location and enjoyed the pool and beach. But to many "bedrooms" downstairs on first floor

The downstairs bedrooms have no windows or second exit. Not sure what the code in Florida is, but these can not pass inspection as bedrooms in most states. Practically speaking they are dark and bedding for 16 people is serviced by two small bathrooms. We only had nine on the first floor and it was insufficient. Further, the refrigerator leaked water in the main compartment and after two repair visits it was not repaired. They did disable the ice maker so no ice for a beach vacation meant ice chests in the kitchen. Not the look or feel we had in mind for a rental of this price.

Thank you for your review of Jewel in the Sand. We are disheartened to read you had these complications during your stay. We want to make sure that all of our guests have the best experience possible. Unfortunately, we cannot remedy the design on the first floor. We are sorry you found it to be dark, however, most guests seem to enjoy the privacy. We appreciate you reaching out to us about the refrigerator. Per our 100% performance guarantee of prompt and reliable service, we were happy to be able to send repairmen to work on the leak. Unfortunately, it needed a part and we are disappointed it was not able to be fixed during your stay. We understand this property did not meet your expectations, however, we have many homes in the Destin area, and invite you to experience some of our other premier properties. We would love to welcome you back to the beach.

Big House on the Beach

Our family of 16 stayed comfortably at this house (7000 sq ft), a perfect location on the beach. Group ranged from 1 year old to 15 year old (6 kids) and 5 couples with the oldest celebrating a 70th birthday. The house was very expensive even though I reserved it almost a year in advance with no option for a refund, only credit. As a result, I had very high expectations. There were minimal supplies so we had to bring all our condiments, paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, detergent, etc. The A/C could not be turned down below 72 due to freeze up risk. The place was not as clean as I had hoped. There were several roach sightings & brown splatters on the ceiling in the kitchen & den. Toilet on first floor ran constantly unless the handle was shaken. Pantry door was sticky due to so much previous use & needed a paint job. There were 16 bracelets on the counter but no explanation about what they were for. We later learned that they were to be worn on the beach to use the 4 complementary chairs & 2 umbrellas. The elevator was nice to have for the older adults since the house is 4 story. The pool was square & unremarkable, minimal shade around the pool, & the landscaping was overgrown. With all that said, the location was awesome with easy access to the beach as well as downtown and local ice cream shops. We cooked most of the meals at the house with plenty of plates, pans, glasses, etc. Summary: Great location, Very Expensive & needs a deep clean & maintenance.

Last Minute Booking

We booked this house as a last minute decision when our original house got canceled due to a hurricane. We did not pay summer prices so I feel that we got a good “deal” but if I had I would be pretty upset. There were stains on almost every chair and a few cockroaches inside and out. The house is very large with many bedrooms, a few steps from your private beach and close to restaurants, grocery, and shopping. The first floor is set up odd with the bunk room close to two exits (and almost all other bedrooms on 3rd and 4th floor) so it was not an option for our 5 year olds to be in together. Also, no baby monitors out of 6 would reach between floors or outside to pool. The 2nd floor was actually great with no bedrooms so you didn’t have to worry about waking others early. The kitchen left a lot to be desired. We had to go buy our own pair of scissors, salt/pepper, and paper and plastic bowls as there were only glass. The living room furniture was not comfortable. The 3rd and 4th floor rooms were great. As soon as we arrived we had to move ALL outdoor furniture as it was flipped upside down against the house and had not been moved back for us. They were VERY heavy. We had asked for the pool to be heated on Saturday. Noticed on Monday there had been no change and contacted management who had someone out immediately and it was determined the heater was broken and we got a full refund. Management responded quickly to any concerns.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. We are happy we were able to accommodate you at the last minute due to your displacement by the hurricane. We are so sorry that everything was not as you expected. Upholstery will be cleaned when we get a break from rentals as it takes a day or two for the furniture to completely dry. We have passed on your suggestion for kitchen items and scissors to the property manager as the end of the season is when inventory is taken and items are replenished. We are very sorry that the patio furniture was not moved before your arrival. We never intended for you to do it yourself. Again, even though your arrival was short notice, there were things that we should have taken care of and we apologize. This is certainly not the impression we are trying to make with our valued guests. We hope you will give us the opportunity to impress you in the future.

Amazing Home On The Beach

Having the beach just steps away from your home was the best part, but having such an amazing home came in a close second. The home was extremely clean. The rooms were all a great size and having so many of them was perfect for us. The house is setup were the second floor is only used as a living space (kitchen, family room, dinning room, etc.). Having this type of setup was perfect. It allowed those that wanted to go to bed early or sleep late the chance to do that without hindering the rest of the group. If there was anything to say that we would have changed it would have been to have more cooking utensils and beach towels, but as you can read from above it did not hinder our stay. Overall things were great. We feel blessed to have had the chance to stay here.

November 2019 Stay

Jewel in the Sand is an AMAZING house! We absolutely loved the 3 living areas. There is plenty of seating for the whole family. The pool sits on the beach so it was nice being able to hear the crashing of the waves while watching the kids splash around. It's only a short 15 step walk down to the sugar white sand. We especially enjoyed the 4th floor "party area" which had an outstanding view of the emerald waters and a well furnished balcony as well as a good size TV to watch the games. The elevator was most convenient when carrying up all of the groceries to feed our large family. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful home next year!
