The Artist's Bungalow • Cozy 2-bedroom house surrounded by woods in Spartanburg
The Artist's Bungalow is the ideal space for art lovers, with over 75 pieces of original art. Full of works painted, collected, and curated by a local Spartanburg artist, The Artist's Bungalow will have you feeling like you are a native Spartanburger in no time! You will love relaxing in this cozy oasis from the city while enjoying coffee or wine on the back deck and watching the birds. The Artist’s Bungalow is located ten minutes from downtown Spartanburg and minutes from Main Street. It is on a quiet, cul-de-sac road in the Hillbrook neighborhood on the eastside of town. Its location on a flood plain has also ensured that the natural wildlife has been preserved. Not only is it a bird watcher’s paradise; it is very likely that you will see a plethora of deer, rabbits, and squirrels! We have also seen wild turkey, foxes, racoons, opossums, and snakes in the woods. As for additional amenities: Play the piano as much as your heart desires! (There is sheet music in the basket next to the piano and inside the piano bench.) Read as many books as you want! (Just please leave them for future guests.) Sit out on the deck and enjoy the wildlife! (You can use the seat cushions in the closet under the stairs to make it more comfortable.) Feel free to cook! (We have a ton of cooking supplies all in the kitchen cabinets. We also have spices and condiments in the cabinet to the right side of the microwave.) Also, if you would you like a personalized art tour of the house during your stay at The Artist’s Bungalow, the hostess Catherine would love to share the inspiration behind her art – many of which she completed during her college years! (She might also bring over a bottle of wine to split with you, as you take the tour.)

We stayed at The Artist's Bungalow while in Spartanburg for a baseball tournament, and it was the perfect home away from home. The cottage is quiet, charming, beautifully decorated, and exceptionally clean. From the moment we arrived, the space felt warm, welcoming, and incredibly comfortable. We all slept wonderfully each night. One of our favorite parts of the stay was the peaceful neighborhood. It felt very safe, and we enjoyed morning runs and evening walks, complete with the sights of deer and countless lightning bugs. It was such a special experience. The back porch was another highlight, providing the perfect spot for morning coffee and yoga before heading to the ball fields. The location was also very convenient. There is a wonderful Indian restaurant nearby (Maharaja), a Fresh Market just minutes away, and Target is an easy drive for anything else you might need.Inside the cottage, we loved browsing the extensive book collection and admiring the unique artwork throughout the cottage. It truly lives up to its name and has so much character. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend The Artist's Bungalow to anyone visiting Spartanburg. We would happily stay here again!

À propos de l’hôte
Hôte : Catherine Conrad
Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
We grew up in this neighborhood (Hillbrook) during the 1970s and 1980s. At that point in time, it was one of the premiere upper middle-class neighborhoods of the city. Some of our favorite childhood memories involved biking these streets during the summer to get to the refreshing waters of the Hillbrook Swimming Pool. (It is located through the woods right behind The Artist’s Bungalow, alongside the Little League baseball field. During the spring, you will likely hear cheers from baseball games; in summer, you might hear the swim league meets.) We both attended Jesse Boyd Elementary School (which is right down the road) and graduated from Spartanburg High School – so we know Spartanburg like the back of our hand. After college and a four-year adventure in Alaska, we moved back to Spartanburg. By then, we had a daughter and we wanted her to grow up near our families. This house on Henson Street holds so many special memories for us. When it snowed during winter months, we loved to sled down the driveway and then warm up in front of the gas logs fireplace. During the summer months, we grilled out most nights on the deck and watched fireflies in the woods. Our son-in-law even proposed to our daughter while she was playing the piano in the den. When we moved to the west side of Spartanburg, we ideated The Artist’s Bungalow. We wanted to help visitors experience all the charms that Spartanburg has to offer – and to offer the perfect haven to spend the night. We hope that, in the comfort of our abode, you love Spartanburg as much as we do.
