We had a great stay at Lilac Cottage. It’s a lovely old home. Location is very convenient to so many attractions. The kitchen is incredibly well-equipped. We especially enjoyed evenings on the outdoor patio. The front porch was awesome for reading, napping or just hanging out and chatting. There were tons of games, puzzles, beach and lawn toys, and movies. There really is a lot of space for people to spread out and enjoy! When we arrived the home was very hot (weather was in the 90s) and we had to work to get the home cooled down. The air conditioning units are in the windows of the third floor bedrooms, and there is a portable unit we found in the master bedroom. Otherwise the main level and second level of the house have window fans and ceiling fans. I was alarmed on the first night we arrived and worried the house would not be cool enough for my extended family but it ended up working out as we got the hang of how to use the fans, where to capture the cross breeze, and the weather cooled down.

Very nice home. Well kept with the traditional costal vibe. We would go back. The only thing to note is, based on theListing we were unde the impression the detached room was included in the rental price and when we received the check in instructions a. 100 fee would have been added if we used it, so we did not. But a beautiful home and walking to nature was a plus along with a/c units in the bedrooms upstairs. Thank you!

Perfect home as to use for wedding home base.

We stayed here with our immediate family and extended family for our daughter’s wedding weekend. It was great to meet the other family here for a bbq Thursday night. The bakery cousin backed all the cupcakes and their wedding cake in the kitchen. Oven was perfect! Elderly family members stayed in the “rec” room as there were less steps. This place is perfect for this or a couple of families on a holiday!

Excellent Stay!!

It was such a a beautiful comfortable house (with the most comfortable beds!!), and the hosts were so communicative and had super fast response rates. Its also located next the famous Wiggly Bridge which was a fun after noon walk!

If you need a place with plenty of room this is it.we enjoyed having the front porch to gather. While others played cards in another room. Convenient to go for walks. Many sleeping options with all the beds.

Amazing York, ME Experience!

We recently stayed here for an extended wedding weekend, with our large group of immediate family members. The property was beautiful and spacious and everything that was reflected in the listing. The hosts were immediately responsive to any questions, however, they also have a very detailed book wifh everything you need to know! The house came equipped with endless yard games, wireless speakers, ample outdoor seating (summer season), and the layout of the home was so perfect to give people space and quiet when needed! Third floor is ideal for kiddos as its closed off and you cant hear a thing! We will absolutely be back. Thank you so much Jill and Carin!

Best Ever

Mornings on the enclosed sun porch and late afternoons on the patio - this wonderful home was perfect for young adults as much as my elderly Dad. We loved the wonderfully equipped kitchen and the collection of games kept everyone occupied on a couple rainy days. The outdoor shower and beach chairs were much appreciated. We hope to come back next year!!

Amazing location, home and great host

My family and I were in a difficult situation with our rental backing out the day before our trip. We were able to book this location and have zero regrets. It was more than we expected. The home was beyond comfortable for our group and location could not have been better. The host was very responsive and kind to save our vacation/family reunion. When we come back to the area if this is available we will absolutely book here again.

Great stay in York, Maine

Spacious, well appointed house in York, Maine. Great location steps from the Wiggle Bridge and short walk to town and waterfront. Lovely front porch to enjoy views. Lots of space for extended family to spread out. Outdoor furniture was not out for our stay (it was beginning of summer season)

Great modernized old house but NO host communication

I had a question a few weeks before. No response. Never ever responded. I had wanted to check in early. No response. My coworker arrived at night. The directions were not clear, she ended up finding the key box at the very side of the garage door. It was hard to get it unlocked/locked. We arrived to a pile of wind blown leaves in front of the back door where we are supposed to enter. Hosts never responded to our questions. My coworkers thought it was an awesome house, indeed it was. But to me, it smelled like dead mice somewhere in the walls. The house was very clean, open, and modern. Loved the outlets and electrical upgrades in the house. But living room lamps a couple of bulbs were out. The bathrooms were clean, everything and beds were clean and modern and comfortable. But I’d probably not stay here again because no response by hosts at all. If something happened, we would not have been able to get ahold of them. I find this very unusual and I hope that the hosts are ok.

NYE gathering!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful house in a great location! It was a perfect spot for friends to gather around the holidays. There were separate rooms so we could play board games in one room, and do a puzzle in a different room! Plenty of sleeping space, also using the detached rec room! The only trouble we had was with the heat in the rec room and one of the bedrooms on the top floor. The thermostat was not working properly in the rec room, and as it is cold in winter, we were nervous to have people sleep there, but it eventually turned on (after 6 hours or so) as people were trying to go to bed. One of the rooms on the top floor had no control for the heat either so it was quite chilly in that room, even with leaving the door open. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Clean, roomy, well stocked kitchen overlooks York river

We had a nice stay at Carin’s. Very clean, nicely decorated, kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Some nice walks to take like .4 mi to town, less than a mile to York harbor beach. The only part that was a bit of an issue is that the third floor does not have a bathroom and the stairs are a bit narrow getting up to those 2 bedrooms

Can accommodate a large group for a wedding. Extra garage studio was a bonus. House had everything you need for a dinner party./ Outdoor couches/ dining table/ umbrellas and portable firepit were amazing! Front porch was nice for some extra space . Wonderful for wedding weekend!

Our 3-generation family thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay at this lovey property, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area! We were in York for our son's wedding, and thought that this property with it's patio and beautiful, separate "recreation" room would be a perfect place for the groomsmen to gather and get ready for the wedding. Not only was it accommodating for them, it was such a nice place to have as a backdrop for the videographer to capture the occassion. Throughout our stay, we loved to gather in the spacious dining room and the front porch as a family, and the 2 little ones (and their parents) were delighted at the stash of playthings for the children. Everything about this property was high quality - from top to bottom. Decor, appliances, linens, and super comfy beds! Communication with the owners was always prompt and they couldn't have been nicer. Access the 2-car garage was another bonus, as it gave us a place to put some of the many wedding items. Something I didn't necessarily plan for :-) This property truly felt and looked like a beautiful home. We only regret that we couldn't have stayed longer.

Lovely stay in York, ME

We had a week long family gathering at this cozy ME home. There was plenty of space for our family of 11 and two dogs. The house was clean, well decorated and the hosts were quick to respond to questions. They even had lobster pot and utensils allowing for a fun family meal with local lobsters. House is within easy walking distance of York sites and stores. The only down side was that there is no central air conditioning and we were there during unseasonably warm spell in Maine! The top floor does have window AC units which worked well and the rest of the house has ceiling fans which helped tremendously. Highly recommend this home to others.

Location and Privacy

What a wonderful property for our multi-generational vacation. Enjoyed being near “town” and the wiggly bridge. The house accommodated everyone’s interests from age 4 to 69. Appreciated the amount of parking space and the feeling of privacy with trees and planting between the houses. Even had a deer visit us on the patio one night! The homeowner was great on the communication, too.

Great Spot and Great Home

A true home away from home with tons of character and enough space for a very large group. This would be a #1 choice for us when we return to York and we sincerely appreciate the communication with the owners to help us with all needs. We had a wonderful stay and hope to stay again in the future!

Lilac Cottage

The house was clean and had plenty of room for our family of 10. The wide front porch was great for little ones to play blocks (supplied by owner) or for adults to get away and/or read, Dining room table could handle our large group easily. Rec room - really a detached bedroom with large-screen tv — behind house was a great outlet for the 11- and 13-year-old and for anyone who wanted a little quiet. Great walking trails just a few minutes from house. Outdoor patio was spectacular. We had cool weather so fans in second floor were adequate, but hot weather could be an issue. No bathrooms on third floor so a lot of sharing of bathrooms, but no problem for our family. No railing on stairs to third floor so that could be an issue for anyone older. Overall, a great house with plenty of room in a very good location — especially for walkers.
