Charming Historic 3-Bedroom Home Just One Block from Humboldt Bay – Walk to Shops & Restaurants
Welcome to the Campton House — a charming and historic three-bedroom home built in 1914! Lovingly owned by three sisters, each bedroom is named after their middle names. The Davis Room features a king-size bed with an optional cot for additional sleeping space. The Jewett Room offers a cozy queen bed and its own private full bathroom, while the Lindley Room also includes a comfortable queen bed. For extra guests, there’s a full-size sofa bed in the living room. Inside, you`ll find a formal dining room, a second casual dining area, a fully equipped kitchen perfect for preparing meals, and a welcoming living room ideal for unwinding after a day exploring Old Town Eureka. The Campton House beautifully blends its historic charm with all the modern comforts you need for a relaxing stay. Please note: Street Parking only with no restrictions. Campton House is located in Old Town Eureka, a historic and lively part of town with shops, restaurants, and regular foot traffic. Like many downtown areas, you may occasionally see individuals experiencing homelessness in the neighborhood. This is generally just part of the normal street activity in the area. Guests typically find the neighborhood safe and comfortable during their stay. For added peace of mind, the property is surrounded by a tall privacy fence, and the home itself is set back from the street. As with any downtown location, we simply recommend keeping doors and gates closed and being aware of your surroundings.
We hope you enjoy exploring Old Town and all the charm the area has to offer!

Historic and cute neighborhood
The neighborhood is in a good walking area, but a little desolate. The heating, cleanliness, water pressure, WiFi were all great. The kitchen was basic and the neighborhood didn’t have amazing food options, but it was a great launching pad for exploring Arcata, Clam Beach, Trinidad and the state parks.

An old house with character! Interesting design with knocks and crannies. It was comfortable with lots of room for our family. It is located close to the Old Town area. We walked to Los Bagels for coffee and treats. Easy access to places we wanted to go such as Fields Landing, the Zoo and highway to the Farmers Market in Arcata and the Trinidad Beach.

It's and old but cool house to stay. It was expected per the pictures and description. Had everything we needed inside for my group. However, the parking is just awful. You have to park on a main street and worry about homeless getting in your stuff. Seems there is plenty of space inside the gate to use for parking, but it's unavailable. If I would have known I would have driven my older car. I was stressed the entire time j was going to come out to broken windows on my new expensive car.

This is a darling 100 year old house. My kids were in love with its character and charm. It’s centrally located for visiting the Redwoods. It was fairly clean and the beds were comfy. However, it is at the center of all things homelessness going on. The police set up cameras directly in front of this house for 24 hour surveillance—and I was so thankful! There was activity all night long—and 100 year old windows mean you hear it all. We mostly just slept here and were gone all day—which worked out great. If you’re looking for a house to hang out in and enjoy the neighborhood, this one’s probably not for you—unless you like mingling with “man who walks around playing loud music all night,” “fish-net Jane,” or “Mr. Defiant” who liked to stare belligerently at the police cameras several times a day. All in all, this property was great and served its purpose, but location was quite sketch.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are so glad your family enjoyed the charm, character, and comfort of this historic home. There is something special about staying in a 100-year-old house, and we love that your kids appreciated its unique features. We’re also happy to hear the location worked well for your Redwoods adventures and that the beds provided a comfortable place to rest after exploring.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the neighborhood. Like many historic homes located in older downtown areas, this property is in a central, urban location that comes with both conveniences and the realities of being close to city activity. We do provide a fully fenced and secure yard with locked gate.
We understand that the sounds and activity of a downtown neighborhood may not be the right fit for every traveler, especially for those seeking a quiet, secluded retreat. We do our best to provide accurate information so guests can choose the home that best matches their expectations.
Thank you again for staying with us and for recognizing the home’s charm and purpose as a comfortable base for exploring the area. We appreciate your feedback and wish you and your family many more wonderful travels.

Lovely Home
This was a lovely home to stay in. Very cozy and perfect for what we were looking for. We stayed here so that we could spend our time hiking and exploring the red woods. We enjoyed a sea kayaking experience and enjoyed wonderful 4th of July fireworks all within comfortable driving distance from the house. The stove was very similar to the one my grandmother had in her home. It worked beautifully and was nostalgic for me. We enjoyed shopping in downtown Eureka and were pleasantly surprised with the amazing thrift stores and other boutiques. We also really enjoyed the doughnut shop that is just around the corner. They were so delicious and the real deal. This is a town on its way up again. That being said, the neighborhood is a bit adventurous. We, however, we always felt very safe at the house and while out in town. Being an adventurous family we have lots of funny memories that are sure to be family lore. You are sure to have a blast in Eureka. Great hosts! Very accommodating and communicative.
