While not a surfing destination itself, the lagoon type beach makes it an ideal spot for enjoying the calm waters and the horseshoe shaped beach that is dotted with small bars and restaurants. There is a single main road through town complete with a variety of dining areas and quite a lively music and bar seen in the evening. Playas del Coco is approximately a 30 minute drive from the Liberia Airport.
