The Space: The Canal House has a large driveway ideal for those traveling together in groups to park comfortably. The front yard is expansive to allow for your group to play any games you bring- or for your furry friends to run around!
The bottom floor can only be accessed from the front or back ground floor and is one large room equipped with 1 queen bed and 2 twin bunk beds. The bottom floor has a window AC unit and a few space heaters for use if need be. We try not to freeze out the window AC unit so please be patient with it and keep the temperature above 68degrees. There is a full bathroom on this bottom floor with an intimate standing shower. This bathroom is connected through to the laundry room and both have concrete flooring for any sandy toes that may go through. We have a dehumidifier running in this room to help with Galveston's humidity but please keep in mind that this space is often more hot/humid than the upstairs level. The bottom floor is ideal for a kids room but is also spacious enough if you are planning a trip with multiple families!
We provide a Tide pod for our guests but if you plan on doing multiple loads of laundry please plan accordingly. In the laundry room we have a complimentary pair of outdoor chairs, a beach umbrella, and a few beach toys for you to enjoy!
The bottom level walks directly out to the private boat dock, boat lift not available, and is ideal for those who enjoy fishing! If you plan to bring a boat, please let us know ahead of time so we can provide a boat launch key (if lost there is a $200 charge applied). We do not track tides or provide fenders, ropes, cleats, etc so please bring whatever you may need for your boat with you.
Access to the top deck and top floor is by a shallow-stepped staircase on the outside of the home. The top deck is AMAZING! So much space for the whole group to enjoy together and covered to avoid the elements. There is plenty of seating for the whole group to enjoy relaxing together out of the sun after a long day at the beach :)
Here you will find the lockbox where the guest keys are located. The living space is an open concept area where the dining, kitchen, and living room flow easily together. There is also a futon here for additional sleeping arrangements. The kitchen is well equipped with LOTS of utensils and appliances. Waffle maker, blender, crock pot, coffee machine, as well as plenty of serving dishes. We try our best to keep this kitchen stocked but please let us know if something needs replacement.
There is 1 queen bedroom and 1 king bedroom on the top floor connected by a full bathroom. The bathroom upstairs is a bit more spacious and gets great natural light through the windows. The top deck has Central AC & Heating. The top deck HVAC system was replaced in 2024.. Our home has plenty of character—and a few quirks that come with age. On hotter days, things can get a little toasty, so we appreciate your good humor and patience!
A few things to note: Provided items are... all bed linens, bath towels, starter set of shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher pod, coffee filters, and paper towels. We do not provide... cooking oil, pantry items such as salt & pepper, coffee grinds, and beach towels. Bathing towels for the bottom level are located in the laundry room. Bathing towels for the top level are located in the bathroom closet.
Both TVs can be connected to your streaming accounts. The Sea Isle community does have a pool for residents and guests (Memorial Day to Labor Day) and a pass can be purchased at the Sea Isle HOA office next to the pool.
Guest Access: Guests have access to the private entrance leading to the upstairs main living, dining, kitchen, two bedrooms, full bathroom and outdoor seating area Downstairs guests will find the private bunk room, full bathroom, laundry room and boat dock.
The Neighborhood: The Canal House is located in Sea Isle on Galveston's West End, perfect for fishing retreats, family retreat, or couples retreat. 3 turns in any direction will land you at the community pool, public beach, marina, community fishing pier and minutes away from restaurants, stores and bait shops!
Getting Around: Sea Isle is a West End Galveston resort community offering residents and visitors a mix of amenities, including a public beach, a private fishing pier, a marina with a boat launch, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a restaurant, a convenience store, and picnic areas with barbecues. It also provides proximity to natural attractions like wetlands and bird sanctuaries, along with easy access to other Galveston Island attractions via a short drive.
Other Things to Note: NO EVENTS-NO PARTIES-NO VISITORS OUTSIDE OF THE REGISTERED GUESTS. Rentals include furnishings, linens, kitchen equipment, appliances, heating and air conditioning. What to bring: A. We do not furnish foods of any kind such as seasonings, condiments, etc., grilling supplies such as fluid, charcoal, personal soaps such as shampoo body wash, etc. or cleaning supplies such as dish soap, laundry soap, etc. B. A "starter" supply of paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. are in each unit, the renter is responsible for additional products during their stay. C. Beach and Pool items: towels, chairs, umbrellas, sun block, repellents and toys!
Interaction with Guests: Upon completing a reservation I will email you our rental agreement that explains check-in, check-out, what to bring and who to call.. Only after the rental agreement is signed, will the arrival information be sent out (3 days prior to your scheduled arrival).

The house is nice but it’s not for the active family. There are no kayak’s, rafts or anything for the water. Other houses we have stayed in have a lot of water toys for the same nightly rate. So if you’re there for just the water view, it’s a good house. The 3rd bedroom is on the bottom floor with its own access, which wasn’t clear in the listing.

For anyone reading this, I want to offer a bit of context. We do not advertise or imply that we provide water equipment; in fact, our listing specifically notes that we do not supply these items, and we’re always happy to recommend local rental companies for guests who need them.
Regarding the layout, the description states: “The bottom floor can only be accessed from the front or back ground floor and is one large room equipped with 1 queen bed and 2 twin bunk beds.” It sounds like this may not have been as clear as intended, so I’ll review the wording to see if it can be made even more straightforward for future guests.
We never want anyone to feel misled. Transparency is extremely important to us, and we do our best to set accurate expectations so guests can choose a property that fits their needs. I appreciate the feedback and will use it to continue improving our communication.
