Off The Grid Cabin avec Elk Herd (et des ânes et des chevaux)

Cette cabine rénovée était sur patins, et nous avons ajouté une belle véranda / salon avec un patio de plain-pied pour terminer la conception. Il a l'énergie solaire, avec un générateur de secours ... et a un canapé-lit, ainsi que des jumeaux dans chaque chambre, donc la capacité de couchage est de 6. Nous avons un merveilleux barbecue Weber, ainsi qu'un foyer sur le patio, une salle à manger extérieure et un joli porche couvert, pour l'ombre pendant les après-midi chauds ... Ranch. Bel endroit pour une sieste, ou pratiquez votre yoga du matin ou du soir!

Cabin was just what we wanted - quiet from our normal crazy lives. Cabin was close enough to Glenwood Springs for the hot springs. Our cellphones also worked at the cabin so we weren’t completely isolated if we needed to reach out.

We had an amazing time. The views from the cabin were spectacular. The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. We loved sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows under the starry sky. Both Mary (owner) Maureen (the cabin manager) and family were very helpful with recommendations for food and fun. It was such a wonderful getaway from city life.

Awesome cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little cabin on a hill. It was as secluded as as can be with beautiful surroundings. The cabin itself was very clean with everything we needed. We didn’t see any elk but the goats came by quite often and were very entertaining. We would definitely stay there again

Mary is wonderful at communicating and making sure everything goes smooth. The place was just the get-a-way we needed for our friend’s wedding. We will return! The views are absolutely amazing and is such a peaceful place to stay. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful private get away in this no thrills cabin. The views of the stars, sunrises and sunsets were worth it on their own. But it gave my family a place to branch off and explore Rifle Gap State Park.Mary is also an incredibly generous host. Thank you for a great stay!

Scenic and Peaceful

My dad, my husband and myself stayed at the cabin and we had a truly relaxing time. The area is surrounded by amazing scenery and is so peaceful. The 2-person hammock was great for stargazing at night. The July heat did make it a little difficult to sleep but there were fans in the house and they helped direct air flow.

Another magical weekend

This place is amazing. It was our 2nd time staying and it was great! Very secluded, perfect for star-gazing, and overall delightfully peaceful. The cabin is super cozy- feels like home.

Perfect setting

We spent three nights here at the midpoint of our 2-week family trip. It was perfect for us. Spectacular sunset and sunrise. Cute town to visit and Rifle Falls State Park. Great hosts!

The property is gorgeous! Fantastic views and the wildlife abundant! Being off the grid took a little getting used to, but not much! Hosts are great! Would definitely recommend!

New Castle Cabin

We liked the dog friendly fenced in yard. Our family rode the Gondola & saw the caves at Glenwood Springs. We also had a fly fishing float trip and went white water rafting.

The best place to unplug!

This was our second trip to the Elk Cabin and we absolutely loved it. The cabin is so cozy. You feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle but the city is just 20 minutes away. Mary and Terry are incredible hosts and always available for any problems. We can’t wait to come back for a third time!

Beautiful views, very quiet and remote. We saw no elk or goats which was disappointing. Also, being that it is so remote, I was disappointed to find out that the water is not potable only after arriving at the house. We had to drive back into town to get drinking water shortly after arriving.

Thank you for your review Dana! I will certainly put non potable water in the listing, but always tell people to bring water when i give directions as well. My apologies if that wasnt conveyed! I have mega gallons at my house.. wish youhad reached out and id have run some up! The elk are down at earlyeve, and we were working the goats... again, if youd have asked iwouldhave told you where to look! Theres alotof room up here!

Terry Porter was born and raised here in New Castle and makes Porter Ranch his home and living. He raises Rocky Mountain Elk here, and is a custom Hay Rancher. Custom hay IS our bread and butter, but we also have goats.. a lot of goats...and raise 2 natural bred imported dogs, lakeland terriers and pepper and salt giant schnauzers. come visit any time.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

This cabin is for those special someone's who really want to get away from it all. You are completely secluded, with all the luxuries of home..you must be judicious with the power, and understand that there is a lot of responsibility with being in with the elk. BUT,,,,talk about a unique experience. You will love it... DOGS are free but must be crated or go with you.. or they will eat my curtains and break windows when the elk approach. If its hot, please check with me to house them in my basement. They are NOT allowed up hanging lake.. FYI>

Covered front porch, nice outside clawfoot tub for a sun shower, or a dog bath, private gazebo and complete solitude. Outside grill and fire pit, pull out couch and walk out grade Colorado red stone patio. Really nice and very very private.FREE WIFI NOW. It is slow. FYI.
