Ferme familiale à North Branch, NY, située à courte distance de voyage de certaines des meilleures attractions du comté de Sullivan de Catskill. Antiquités, marchés agricoles, navigation de plaisance et pêche dans le Delaware, restaurants, brasseries, distilleries et musique ... Callicoon, Roscoe, Jeffersonville, Bethel Woods et Woodstock sont tous à moins de 30 minutes en voiture.

C'est aussi l'occasion de profiter de la résidence d'été de la légende de la boxe américaine James J. Braddock alias "l'homme de Cendrillon". Pendant les années 1930, la région de Sullivan County NY était un lieu d'entraînement pour les boxeurs de la région. Braddock a aimé la région et a construit cette maison dans les années 1940 après avoir remporté le Championnat du monde des poids lourds en 1935. Les Braddock ont passé des étés à North Branch pendant de nombreuses années et leur famille continue de visiter régulièrement la maison. Des photos de la carrière de boxeur de Braddock et de sa famille se trouvent dans toute la maison.

Situé sur plus de 2 acres avec un ruisseau qui coule à travers la cour, cette maison offre l'endroit idéal pour une escapade. Sortez du réseau et profitez de la détente dans la beauté tranquille du pays. Un ciel nocturne dégagé permet une observation des étoiles incroyable. Faites griller des guimauves au-dessus du foyer et profitez de l'écoute des grillons et du babillage du ruisseau.

Remontez dans le temps pour profiter des 5 chambres de la maison des années 1940 (9 personnes) et de 1 5 salles de bains avec de nombreux meubles originaux offrant un charme rustique propre et confortable. La cuisine comprend une cafetière, un grille-pain, un four micro-ondes, une cuisinière (pas de four) et toutes les casseroles, poêles, ustensiles, etc. Barbecue à gaz à l'extérieur pour les barbecues.

Nous sommes une location familiale, pas adaptée aux grandes fêtes. L'âge minimum de location est de 25 ans. Ne pas fumer, pas d'animaux. Les clients doivent fournir leurs propres draps et serviettes (les lits ont des oreillers et des couettes).

Great stay

We had a great time at this property. The house was as advertised. Fortunately the weather was warm enough for us to grill and enjoy the property, but cool enough at night for us not to miss the presence of A/C. The fans were more than enough to keep us cool. Quiet and remote enough to bring a feeling of real relaxation, but close enough to the quaint local town that we never felt isolated. There was even some swimming in the creek out back! All in all, a great time was had by all.

Beautiful location, lackluster service

While we enjoyed the location and much of the property, there were some downsides that weren't mentioned in the listing. Be aware you must bring our own bedding, towels, and toiletries, and are expected to remake the beds, take out the trash, and sweep before checking out. There is a strong sulfur smell from the unserviced water heater; it is potable and safe to wash in, but you will smell like eggs. There is no oven in the kitchen, and most drawers/cabinets seemed to be junk drawers with all kinds of random personal stuff in them. Felt a bit less polished and out of order than it should have been.

Historic house that is as listed

This house was a great launching point for our weekend in the area. We didn't spend much time in the home, and it served as a suitable home base. Don't expect all the comforts of a modern home (as the hosts mention). It is conveniently located in the area.

Perfect Getaway!

This house is close to Bethel Center for the Arts and the town of Callicoon. It is full of nostalgia of James Braddock.

Relaxing getaway

This is a lovely property with a nice big yard and river in back. The house is charming with original details and antique furniture. We enjoyed the surrounding area as well. It was a relaxing getaway for our family.

Nice city break

My kids really enjoyed the brook in the backyard and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The property was nice and quiet and remote enough to stargaze on a clear night. Great for a city break!

Home away from home.

We had SO MUCH FUN!!! Thank you Tim and Bev for allowing us to make lasting memories in your home. I wish I could share pictures of our stay. The house is beautiful and has that homey feeling to it. There are numerous black and white photos throughout the house painting a wonderful story of the life of Timothy Braddock! We especially enjoyed taking a dip in the brook out back and making s’mores around the fire pit while star gazing! You sure can’t find that in the city. There’s a lovely little town with an I cream shop, restaurant and huge supermarket just about 10 mins away. The area itself was just so quiet and peaceful and the children enjoyed taking a ride further up the road to see the cows, sheep, goats and chicken on the farms. Once again, thank you for having us.

Beautiful location, adorable home

We had a wonderful time at this North Branch home. The location was beautiful- we loved our next door cow neighbors. We went swimming at the Delaware River & sang songs around the campfire. We'd definitely visit again!

The Braddock family home is a beautiful property that feels a bit like living in a museum -- you'll be charmed by the history and feel right at home in their beautiful outdoor space. Tim and Bev are great hosts, we can't wait to return.

Wonderfully relaxing stay

We had a wonderful time disconnecting in North Branch in this lovely home. I brought records for the player, which worked great. The stream out back was refreshing to wade in and the fire pit was lovely at night under the stars. The temperature for mid-August was perfect and the box fans in the windows were just what was needed.

I came with my family for a 4 day getaway from the city and this house was amazing! So much history and so much to offer: we enjoyed the fire pit and a grill was provided as well. Other than no cell service this was such an amazing stay we will definitely book again!

Beautiful brook with a large house!

The house is huge! The backyard and brook is beautiful. On a summer day, you can go by the brook and relax. The living room is cozy and the dining room is nice with a huge table for a family dinner. You can also relax in the porch if you don’t want to be in the house. There are nice bakeries and ice cream shops within 12-14 mins of driving. Overall good stay

Super charming place!

Gorgeous setting and charming house with a really cool history. My husband and I stayed here with our 7 year old son, but this house could very comfortably accommodate a larger group. Every bedroom is a good size. We spent a lot of time by the fire pit and exploring the brook. This was a really nice relaxing getaway. Owners were friendly and quick to respond to questions. We hope to return sometime!

Beautiful outdoor getaway

Beautiful outdoor experience you can hang by the water make smores around the firepit and look up at the stars in the night. The only turn off is that sulfer smell in the water.

This house has been in our family since it was built and we love to come here to be with family and friends. Stays at the Braddock "Mountain House" have provided many special memories! We are glad to share one of our favorite places with renters who we view as guests in our home.

Our property is quiet and great for relaxing. Play in the yard or wade in the brook during the day, sit around a fire and watch the starts at night. The surrounding areas of Callicoon and Jeffersonville offer antiquing, vintage shopping, breweries, distilleries and many nice restaurants. Bethel Woods and the Woodstock Museum are within a 30 minute drive, as is Roscoe "Trout Town USA". There is much to explore in Sullivan County!
