Welcome to the Bay of St. Anthonyâa hidden gem on Hvar island where time stands still. Many years ago, we fell in love with this place for being truly "far from the madding crowd," and we invite you to experience that same magic. This historic stone house sits directly on the waterâs edge in an intimate, quiet cove, offering the kind of peace and privacy that is becoming rare to find.
The Ultimate Off-Grid Experience
To preserve the untouched beauty of the bay, our home operates entirely off-grid. This is a place for a slower, simpler pace of life.
Solar Power: The house is powered by a 12V solar system. To keep everything running smoothly, we kindly ask that appliances are not used simultaneously.
Pure Rainwater: Our water comes from a traditional cistern. To maintain pressure, we recommend using one shower at a time.
True Serenity: While a backup generator is available, the true luxury here is the silence of the sea and the stars at night.
Getting Here: An Adventure in Itself
Because of its secluded and intimate location, reaching the retreat is part of the charm:
Water Taxi: The most scenic and recommended way to arrive. We can arrange a boat transfer for âŹ20 per trip (up to 4 people), delivering you directly to your seafront doorstep.
By Road: There is a macadam (gravel) road leading to the house. However, it is not recommended for standard carsâit is best suited for older SUVs or rugged off-road vehicles.
Coastal Walk: For those who enjoy light exercise, a beautiful path along the sea leads you to the main shopping center in about 30 minutes, offering the perfect balance of isolation and accessibility.
Sustainability & Nature
Living in harmony with nature means being mindful of our surroundings. We provide separate bins for recycling (plastic, paper, general waste) and a composter for organic waste. Keeping the bins tightly closed ensures our local wildlife stays where it belongsâin the beautiful nature surrounding us!
