Growing up, some of my most cherished memories were our family trips “up north.” Each summer, we would pack up and head to a cabin tucked among the trees, surrounded by lakes and quiet. Days were spent on the water—fishing, water skiing, and swimming until the sun dipped low. Evenings meant campfires, laughter, and that unmistakable stillness you only find in the Northwoods. Those experiences left a lasting impression on me and shaped what I believe a true getaway should feel like.

Now, with four children of our own, we find so much joy in creating those same kinds of memories with them. There’s something special about time on the lake—the simplicity of it, the connection it brings, and the way it slows everything down. Whether it’s early mornings watching the sun rise over the water or long summer days spent exploring, these are the moments that stay with you.
