La forteresse de Fortress Cabin tire son nom de la pièce maîtresse de sa vue en regardant les falaises de la forteresse le long du bord est du parc d'État de Palo Duro Canyon, un protégé de six miles de falaises surplombant le Grand Canyon du Texas. Le bluff ressemble à celui que les premiers Texans ont vu: intacte. Les marges abruptes des falaises de la forteresse se composent de couches lumineuses et en bandes de roches orange, rouges, brunes, jaunes et blanches qui représentent quatre périodes géologiques. Ajoutant à la grandeur scénique des falaises se trouvent de nombreux pinacles, buttes et mesas. Un lieu de sécurité, d'intimité et de refuge exceptionnels - Bienvenue à Doves Rest Fortress Cabin!

Situé à seulement quelques minutes de l'entrée principale (et unique) du parc d'État Americas # 1 - Palo Duro Canyon. Cette cabine moderne mais rustique de deux chambres et deux salles de bain est impeccable et entièrement meublée. Il dispose d'un foyer au bois, d'un bain à remous, d'un patio couvert orienté à l'est avec des balançoires et un barbecue. La cuisine entièrement équipée offre tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour vous sentir comme chez vous. Des draps et des serviettes propres sont fournis pour votre confort ainsi que des couvertures supplémentaires pour des nuits agréables. Un 70 V. T. V. dans le salon rend les nuits encore plus divertissantes! Vous pourrez vous détendre autour du magnifique patio en dalles et profiter de la vue toute la journée et la nuit. Great VRBO with wonderful accommodations and beautiful views!!!

This was the ideal home to stay in to see the canyon and relax after traveling from Colorado to Texas!!! Highly recommend taking a little more time to stay here and enjoy a spectacular sunset and sunrise on the patio!!!! What a fabulous clean home with everything you need to enjoy your stay!!

Loved the view and the proximity

Best view of the canyon as far as I am concerned. We had a snow storm while we were there and the house had everything to keep us warm and cozy. The trails were wonderful and the hot tub was a blessing after a 12 mile hike.

Our stay at the Dove’s Rest Fortress was like a dream! This place was beyond stunning! The pictures really can’t capture how beautiful the view really is. The views from the back patio are just breathtaking! The home is spacious and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen and lots of towels and blankets and toilet paper. Jeff is a super host! Very responsive and kind. He even had a bottle of champagne, and two keep-sake Dove Rest glasses waiting for us for a special occasion. John and Bambi

Our 2nd time staying at doves rest. We love the property. Would like to have some bug spray as we had to kill 2 scorpions- us girls freaked out lol Beautiful place!

Thank you for your review Rhea, sorry about the scorpions, they have decided in the last few weeks to stay with us as well. We have had all the cabins sprayed again inside and out to assist with the little critters that live in the canyon. Every year it is a different creature that ventures up to check out the resort.

Peaceful evenings with beautiful views. The communication with the owners is very easy and they are quick to respond. Wonderful welcome gift of sparkling cider and champagne with two complimentary flutes was a pleasant surprise. Definitely worth staying here when you visit the area.

Amazing Palo Duro Stay

The view from the back patio is amazing, even better than pictures. The house was just as advertised. Hot tub has great after hiking. We loved seeing Mule Deer and Audad in neighborhood. Great memories.

Great stay!

It’s hard to put into words just how beautiful the views were from the back patio! Pictures of the sunrises, sunsets, and the canyon itself do not it justice. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, well-furnished, and had great personal touches (including robes to use with the hot tub). We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will be back!

Jeff Means is the founder and manager of Doves Rest Cabins. He’s an experienced business professional with a 30+ year career in the hospitality & tourism industry. He has overseen countless event executions and destination/resort marketing efforts. He has personally led groups to over 50-countries and worked closely with resorts and hotels to enhance the guests stay and overall experience. He has traveled to every continent except Antarctica, and almost every state/province in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. During his career he has been to many interesting places such as, the Sahara Desert, Amazon River, Great Barrier Reef, Moscow, Marrakesh, Transylvania, Kenai Peninsula, and the Alps from every country, plus most of the Caribbean Islands. Jeff’s sister lives in New Zealand who he visits occasionally. Interestingly, she has several successful vacation home rentals projects in New Zealand, Australia and Argentina!

Jeff is also an author and accomplished writer. His extensive travels have given him a unique view about the world and the cultures in which we live. His curiosity about world and human origins led him to write his debut novel, Entity of Origin. Jeff was born and raised in Northern California but has called Texas home since 1989.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park with it's Technicolor walls make for high-desert scenery more commonly seen in southern Utah. It offers more than 30-miles of hiking, mountain-biking and equestrian trails and an additional 1,500 acres set aside for horseback riding. You can bring your own horses so don’t hesitate to ask us about local boarding. Mountain bikers can experience the best single track in Texas and will enjoy the well maintained five trail heads networking for some 26-miles throughout the canyon ranging from "mild" to "wild" in technical ability - dirt, rocks, river rock, sand, wash-outs, switchbacks, drop-offs and climbs with alternative trail accesses throughout.

During the summer, enjoy a performance of the outdoor musical drama TEXAS. The play, nearing a half-century in its on-going production runs Tuesdays through Sundays, June through August, at the 1,700 seat Pioneer Amphitheater. Watch the stories, struggles and triumphs of early settlers. The family-friendly show has singing, dancing, fireworks and lots of Texas humor.
