Oceanfront Condo with Artful Décor, Pool & Balconies

Playa Caribe 6 is a second-floor beachfront condo on the southern tower of Half Moon Bay, designed for families, couples, and friends who appreciate color and character. The Master Suite includes a king bed, tiled bath, and private balcony. The guest bedroom has two double beds with handwoven spreads and its own bath. Both bedrooms and living areas are cooled by central AC.

The living and dining areas are decorated with tropical fabrics and original artwork from local artists, while the kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. The open layout flows naturally to an oceanfront terrace where guests can dine, relax, or watch the turquoise waves. At the back, two private balconies overlook the jungle—one with a BBQ, the other set with a table for morning coffee.

Guests enjoy daily housekeeping, beach towels, purified water, parking, and 24-hour security. Shared amenities include a pool, loungers, and outdoor shower. The condo balances privacy with comfort, making it an excellent choice for groups of six.

Half Moon Bay is known for its blend of soft sand and coral rock, creating a unique shoreline with great snorkeling. Yal Ku Lagoon, Akumal Bay, restaurants, and shops are all within walking distance. A rental car or private driver is recommended for exploring ruins, cenotes, and nearby towns. Playa Caribe is one of Akumal’s most respected beachfront properties, known for its excellent service.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. Like other units where we have stayed in Playa Caribe over the years, No. 6 is immaculate and well maintained with reliable wifi and staff service. This one stands out for its impressive collection of Mexican art.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful apartment, with fantastic views and superb location on the beach. The resort was very quiet, we rented in August so this could be off season? There was no concierge to ask for information on things to do etc. We had the bay virtually to ourselves for the reef snorkelling. Lots of reviews for this area mention the seaweed but we didn't have any issue. There was a security guard there at night so property felt safe. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very spacious. My teenage children shared the twim room and the beds were enormous! It is 20 minutes from the ruins of Tulum by car.

Our teenager loved having his own space, a beach out front, and consistent and reliable wifi. We look forward to returning.

Beware of Sargassum

This condo looked just like the pictures in terms of the building and the inside of the unit though the unit had a bit of a damp, musty smell and the floors always felt wet. The people running the property were very friendly and available to answer any of our questions we had and provide assistance at a moment's notice when needed. The woman who cleaned our unit everyday did an impeccable job which was a good thing because even if there was just a crumb of food somewhere in the kitchen there would be a trail of tiny ants that would find their way to it. Unfortunately, the sargassum has completely taken over the beach and sea in most of Half Moon Bay and especially around Playa Caribe. The main reason I booked this specific condo was to spend the week with a beach right outside of the condo. Instead we had to find cenotes and other places to swim but at least we had a car. Beware that the beach down the road is $6US per person and if you want to drive the mile to it that is another $5. It also wasn't very pleasant to just hang out by the pool because once it sits for a while the sargassum produces a sulfer (rotten egg) smell. Personally, I think that this place was overpriced given the awful condition of the beach. I know that this isn't anything that anyone has control over and we made the most of it but I will not be returning and want others to be aware.

Great Stay in Akumal

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What a wonderful stay! All our interactions were wonderful and everyone was so accomodating. We traveled with a large group and David with Akumal Direct was a wonderful help with arranging transportation for all our group even though some were staying at other condos. The team at Playa Caribe from the office, security, housekeeping and clean up crew were all excellent. We really enjoyed the fresh fruit that got brought to us daily. Our one complaint on this trip would be the rocks and seaweed at the beach. This is obviously uncontrollable by Playa Caribe and we knew this was going to be a thing which makes it excellent to have a pool. Bring water shoes if you plan to go in the ocean. The views and cleanliness of this location can not be beat.

There were lots of extra touches like a fresh pineapple and bananas when we arrived, games in the cabinet and beach chairs. The kitchen had everything we needed. We snorkeled in the bay right outside the condo and saw beautiful fish. I would definitely recommend to others.

Amazing Christmas Vacation

We had a fantastic visit to this property Dec 2022. The location is unbeatable, the snorkeling top notch, and the neighborhood charming!! The condo was perfect for my family with 2 teens!! Everything was just as expected and we loved every minute. We rented a car, but really didn’t need it. The bikes were perfect for getting all around the area. We hope to head back again in the future. There is still so much to explore!!!

Wonderful Condo, Great Location

Loved everything about the condo and especially enjoyed and appreciated the local art. The location can’t be beat for view - couldn’t be any closer to the ocean without being on a ship. Once we wandered a bit, we decided we had the best location in Half Moon Bay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Playa Caribe #6 has gorgeous, unending views of sea, sky, and pool. You could watch sunrises and sunsets from your balcony. The balcony is large and equipped with a table and four chairs plus a comfy rocker.The unit is decorated with the most wonderful, Mexican folk art that I have ever seen, and I’ve visited this area seven times. The furniture was clean, comfortable, and in very good shape. There was some real thoughtful decorating going on here from the art, to the bedspreads, to the pillows. A very welcoming unit.The grounds and pool were kept up nicely. Some days there were quite a few people at the pool and other days we had it to ourselves. Never a problem. We also had a few days of sargassum, but we still had days we were still able to swim in the ocean and walk on the beach. The beach is not wide and it is very rocky when entering the ocean. Housekeeping is excellent and friendly. Office staff is often not available, but if you are patient, you will find someone eventually that can help you. Our power and water went out a few times due to nearby construction, but was restored within a reasonable amount of time.The location was excellent. We were able to walk easily to Yal Ku lagoon, several local shops, restaurants and into town. There’s also a nice parking lot if you rent a car.Price for value is excellent. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay in Akumul!

This property is lovely! We stayed here in January, 2022 with our daughter and son in law. This 2nd floor condo is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and the view of Half Moon Bay is priceless. The pool and ocean were just steps away and La Buena Vista restaurant and a small grocery store are just down the street Everything was perfect and we would stay here again

The on-site management provided very good customer service and cleaning. I would recommend the property to a friend. On-site we enjoyed the well-maintained beach and pool areas, and snorkeling from the beach. The concierge service was very responsive and helpful in arranging transportation and reservations when needed. The La Buena Vida restaurant is within walking distance and has excellent water views, food and drinks.

Akumal is not what is used to be ...

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Akumal has changed and not for the better. Less public access to the beach, larger crowds, more aggressive vendors pestering you for money. Plus the time we stayed at Playa Caribe there were multiple families with small children that created a lot of noise. The fact that Playa Caribe doesn't have very good sound insulation didn't help the matter. The previous times we've stayed at Playa Caribe it didn't matter because most of the guests were adults and respected each other's privacy - not so this time. We wound up cutting our trip to Playa Caribe short because of the noise.

Akumal gem

Playa Caribe has a wonderful staff and a great location. You can walk to town or two restaurants nearby. The condo was extremely clean and the staff accommodate requests swiftly and with great service. The pool is not heated but our kids and the others visiting did not seem to care. My only complaint is the entrance into the ocean is terribly rocky and getting into the water is really challenging without water shoes and even then I would say it is somewhat treacherous. The beach itself is beautiful but the seaweed has taken over, so not ideal if you love a quick dip in the ocean while soaking up your ocean time. I snorkeled but did not see any fish, my understanding is you have to go far out into the reef to see anything and most recommended using a boat. The condo itself is great and the people there wonderful. If you want a smooth beach I would recommend staying near Maroma or Playa del Carmen.

Comfortable and clean accommodation.

The property offered welcome shelter from the wind as it is set back. This however restricted the views along the coastline but never-the-less good views to open sea. The accommodation had a great flow and was immaculately clean. A great stay!

WOW! How amazing to have the view of the ocean wake you up each morning! Steps away to the pool and beach! the property is clean, safe, and welcoming! The staff was amazing and the owner was great! We have no complaints and plan to use this again ASAP! Thank you!
