Chalet en pierre confortable et paisible dans un cadre pittoresque près de Bath et Frome

Transformée avec goût en 2011, la maison de vacances Barn est une petite grange en pierre offrant un hébergement confortable et chaleureux pour deux personnes dans notre petite ferme de dix-sept acres. Le chalet comprend une chambre double confortable, une salle de douche de luxe, une kitchenette bien équipée avec plaques électriques, four, réfrigérateur et laveuse / sécheuse. Il y a aussi un salon ensoleillé (avec TV / lecteur DVD) et une terrasse ensoleillée orientée sud-ouest où vous pourrez déguster un verre de vin au soleil du soir.

Barrow Farm est situé dans le village pittoresque de Rode, à neuf miles au sud-est de Bath et à quinze minutes en voiture de Longleat. Les propriétés du National Trust telles que Stourhead et Dyrham Park sont également à une demi-heure de route ainsi que de nombreuses autres attractions touristiques.
Notre belle ferme en pierre est nichée dans la vallée de la rivière Frome où nous avons nos propres poules élevées en plein air et un petit troupeau de moutons du Wiltshire Horn. Nous exploitons également un très petit PYO et un site de 5 van Caravan Club CL. Il y a de nombreuses jolies promenades sur le pas de la porte, y compris le sentier de longue distance Macmillan et pour les cyclistes beaucoup de voies de campagne et aussi le Wiltshire Cycle Way. Rode lui-même a deux bons pubs à manger tous accessibles à pied et dispose également d'un service de bus régulier vers Frome, Trowbridge et Chippenham. Il y a un service de bus à Bath mais pas aussi régulier.

En plus de deux pubs à quelques pas, il y a aussi un bureau de poste qui vend des journaux et des magasins généraux. Il y a aussi un joli café dans le bureau de poste / boutique. D'autres villes locales à proximité incluent Frome, un bourg historique et le très pittoresque Bradford on Avon avec le canal Kennet et Avon pour marcher ou faire du vélo. Belle Bath est à seulement neuf miles et Wells et Glastonbury à environ quarante minutes ainsi que de nombreux autres endroits à visiter et à apprécier.

DÉCLARATION D'ACCÈS: Le chalet Barn est situé sur notre petite ferme et se trouve donc en milieu rural. Nous avons un troupeau de moutons à la ferme et des poules en liberté. La ferme et le chalet sont entourés d'un terrain vallonné. L'avant du chalet a une surface de gravier et l'arrière du chalet a une terrasse avec des pavés. Il y a une petite marche vers le haut dans la porte d'entrée du chalet et il y a un marchepied en bas des portes-fenêtres sur la terrasse.

À l'intérieur du chalet, la cuisine, le salon et la salle de douche / toilettes sont tous de plain-pied. Il y a une marche standard dans la chambre.

Le chalet ne dispose pas d'installations pour handicapés ni de mains courantes.

Pretty and peaceful

The cottage was clean, well equipped and so peaceful. I was visiting family in the area and this was a perfect base, also a five minute walk to the village where we had a great family Sunday lunch at the Cross Keys pub. I look forward to staying again.

Perfectly placed retreat

Friendly owners and cottage ideally located for exploring Somerset / Wiltshire. We stayed for our 20th wedding anniversary with our dog - Misty having been married in Bath. The cottage had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

Outstanding spot

Nice barn conversion on picturesque farm. Two nice pubs in walking distance and a bakery literally on site that is open Fri and Sat mornings. Easy drive to Bath, and there are many local attractions worth a visit. Sarah was very gracious and helpful. Highly recommend.

Perfect Getaway Retreat

Absolutely loved my stay at The Barn….only complaint is that the week went by far too quickly! The cottage is a perfect retreat, such beauty and peaceful surroundings and with so many stunning places to explore right on the doorstep. Lovely week

It was such a relaxing place to stay in a beautiful peaceful piece of Somerset countryside - the cottage is lovely and the immediate local area was a pleasure to ramble around - with our dog Teddy who felt at home straight away. Friendly and helpful owners. Two local pubs aere excellent as well - always a bonus. We were sad to be leaving - but hopefully we will be back - thankyou.

Relaxing dog friendly farm country cottage

Clean fresh cottage with all expected amenities. Warm welcome from the owners and thankyou for the apples and pears from the orchard and apple juice on arrival. Two local dog friendly pubs within walking distance (The Mill/The Cross Keys) with very friendly staff and delicious food. Visited Stone Henge and Bath both worth a visit. We would happily visit again! Thankyou.

The cottage was comfortable, but needs some updating ,the toaster did not spring the toast up hence it burnt , not good for safety perpose , and the front door needs mending not safe , a little bit of tidying up outside would not go a miss

Dear Peter Thank you for your review although I found it disappointing. When I met and welcomed you, you both seemed very happy with the cottage and did not mention any of the things you have mentioned in your review. I will check the toaster but it was working for the last guests so I am not sure why you were having problems. I admit the door does stick a little as it is a wood door and swells a little when it is wet. It is certainly not a safety issue though. The cottage is cosy and homely. The decor is not meant to be blingy and ultra modern as it is a rural barn conversion. I disagree that it needs updating and all our previous guests seem to love the cottage as it is. The cottage is sited on a farm and the surrounding area, although very pretty and well maintained is not manicured and pristine. We benefit from an amazing amount of bird life and wildlife which our caravan and cottage guests love to observe. You wrote nice comments in our Visitors book and despite the comments in the review it sounds like you had a lovely stay. With best wishes. Sarah and Mike

Lovely location and great for a quite relaxing get away

The property was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Just 5 mins walk to the local pub which was outstanding and catered for my partners celiac condition beyond our expectations but they were not serving food on Mondays and full on Tuesday, so I advise booking. I would have given this property 5 stars if it had not been for the poor internet conversation (which the owners tried to sort as best they could) and the fact the 2nd pub, the mill, placed in the description was closed which meant having to get in the car for 2 nights for an evening meal during our stay. Small issues so would definitely recommend the property if you want a quite and peaceful time away.

Hi Kim I was sorry to see that you only gave us 4 stars as We did sort out the internet for you during your stay using an adaptor which I think worked quite well. However, I am pleased to say the internet is back to working normally after its little blip and no problems since. The other good news is that The Mill pub is due to open again in August so we will have two pubs to be able to walk to again. A little gem

What a wonderful place to stay. I was working in Bath at the beautiful Theatre Royal 8 shows a week & Barn Cottage was a most peaceful & comfortable retreat. I slept so well there. So much care has been taken to see that everything is provided. I love to cook as much as I can for myself whilst on tour and the kitchen has it all. The weather even allowed for coffee on the enchanting country patio some mornings which the living room opens on to. Imagine a couple would be using & enjoying the area constantly in warmer months. The cottage is in the most beautiful rural setting but a mere 20 minute drive into Bath - or less depending on the time. It’s a great comfy base & location for exploring Bath (which is surprisingly busy!) & further afield. Michael & Sarah couldn’t have been more welcoming - staying up later than usual I suspect to ensure I found my way there in the dark the first night. I would love to return for a holiday break with my partner & explore the area more. A special place.

PERFECT COUNTRY HOME

The wonderful property is on the edge of the village of Rode - and a VERY short walk to the middle of the village with its Pub and Post Office / small store. It is on a small farm, is impeccably clean, and has a well appointed kitchen offering everything a guest would need to prepare and serve a meal. The combination washer/dryer allowed us to do a couple loads of laundry during the middle of our two week vacation in England. Additionally, there is a very nice patio that, if the weather was just a bit warmer, could have kept us "home" rather than exploring the beautiful countryside. Communication with Sarah was easy and she provided easy details for check-in and out as well as rules if pets are traveling with you. Further, she provides a list of sites to visit in the region. Upon check-in we a very nice bottle of organic cider, from the farm(!) waiting for us on the counter - a very nice touch. I truly cannot think of a negative thing to say about this perfect property for two. Finally, the central location provided easy access to Castle Combe, Laycock, Bath, Wells, Stonehenge, Salisbury and other villages in the area. If I return to this area, I will absolutely stay here again.

This is the translated review: In the kitchen, everything you could need was available. It is all quite small, and if you are tall and long, the bed is also too small. Apart from that, everything was tidy, and it is definitely a Green Cottage where you can sit comfortably, although there is little to nothing in the surroundings. The Old Mill is alarmingly expensive; the owners are friendly, and as a welcome gesture, there was a bottle of homemade apple juice, which was very tasty. I was disappointed to read this review as the guests certainly appeared to have a good week and visited lots of places in the area and were out most of the time. The cottage is cosy and perfect for couples but I guess it depends on everyone's expectations. The bed is a standard double bed. If you are used to a queen or king size then I guess that may feel on the smaller side. The cottage is in a rural area but within a five minute walk of an old and attractive village which has two pubs and a post office general stores. There are also lovely walks from the door step. Within easy reach is the historic City of Bath. We have plenty of National Trust places to visit and also pretty towns and villages as well as Bristol which is further away but still within easy reach by train. Again, I was very disappointed to only get three stars with what I felt was their view of the area not matching their expectations and nothing particularly related to the cottage. Please do read the other excellent reviews

Perfect romantic getaway for our honeymoon

Cute, cosy cottage in a perfect quiet rural setting, all mod cons, fantastic power shower and loads of sockets. Everything you would need for a self catering holiday

Lovely cottage, great location

The cottage was lovely, clean and well equipped, very comfortable bed, very peaceful and pretty location, Sarah and Mike were great hosts and the welcome bottle of wine and fresh eggs a lovely touch. Location really good for exploring Somerset with some good walks on the doorstep, 2 really good pubs within easy walking distance with good food. Overall a lovely relaxing break.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Guests tell me that they love the peaceful and beautiful setting which Barrow Farm offers. They love the fact that they can walk to and explore the old and very pretty village of Rode. The village offers two pubs and currently a cafe allowing guests to enjoy eating out without the worry of driving.

There are pretty walks directly from the farm and plenty of places to visit and explore. Many guests return saying they need longer to allow them to see and explore all the places they missed first time!

Lovely quiet location on a small farm but ten minutes into a very pretty village with two pubs and a post office/shop/cafe.

Plenty of walks on the door step.

Bus service into Frome, Trowbridge, Chippenham and Bath.

Lots of National Trust places to visit and more besides.
