Thank you for your five-star review, and sharing your impressions of the home with others. The kitchen -- which has been expanded by the owner since the VRBO photography was filmed -- is based on Swedish design, so indeed has a different feel to it than your typical American kitchen. The "rustic" feel of the home's interior is based on all that woodwork and gamefish trophies. (In the 1980s, the home was operated as a fishing retreat by a now-infamous Fortune 500 company [Enron]). Although the home has changed hands a few times since then, the original "fish camp" feel has been lovingly preserved in the decor, and maintained by each successive owner. Today at Restoration Sands, you've got an interesting mix of modern and new hurricane doors & windows, new kitchen and new flooring (all part of an enormous 3-year remodeling project that completed in 2019), and many other new features throughout the large sprawling home ... but its origins as a "fish camp" located in the "Sailfish Capital of the World" that date back to the 70s! It's true that during your stay, the beach was still suffering from the lingering effects of erosion created by the impact of the unusual late-season Hurricane Nicole, which tore through our area in November 2022 -- an extremely late month for hurricanes. Nicole scoured the beach pretty good, and Mother Nature took longer than usual to fill back in the eroded sand. You see, your average once-a-decade hurricane usually hits in July or Aug or early Sept, and subsequent tropical storms move the sand around all over again. But since Nicole struck so late, there were no more storms afterwards to reshape the beach. So the beach was pretty raw from November through May. Fortunately, as of Late Summer 2023, Mother Naure eventually managed to bring the beach back to its natural state.
