Unique Santa Fe Stay: Updated 1880s Adobe, Once Owned by artist Sheldon Parsons

We love to travel, we love art and food and learning new things—and hospitality runs in our blood. We’re passionate art collectors, and one of us is a professional New York chef. We’ve traveled extensively before finding this perfect Santa Fe home to call our own, and have always been drawn to places with a strong sense of character, culture and history.

Our background in hospitality has taught us that the little things matter. We enjoy creating spaces that feel welcoming rather than impersonal, and we take pleasure in sharing the places we love with curious, independent travelers. Santa Fe is one of those places—and we’re delighted to share our little corner of it with you.

We fell in love with this casita the first day we stepped inside. An authentic adobe home with thick, buttressed walls, gleaming plaster and deep window wells, its sculptural shapes reminded us of a Georgia O’Keeffe painting. We had to make it ours.

The casita is tucked into Santa Fe’s historic Eastside, just two blocks from Canyon Road, where galleries, sculpture gardens and historic adobe homes line the winding streets. The Plaza, museums, restaurants and other downtown treasures are all within an easy walk, yet our little hillside feels wonderfully removed from the bustle. We first walked past the casita in a softening snowfall on our way home from ArtFeast that very first weekend, with the scent of piñon in the air. We knew then that this was a special corner of Santa Fe.

The backyard was raw earth when we arrived, but we had a vision. We created a native garden that surprises us—and our guests—throughout the year, from spring blooms to summer hummingbirds and the changing colors of fall.

We’ve had a great time finding the best of everything to make the casita comfortable, beautiful and welcoming—from the kitchen and bath to the art, books, linens and garden. We wanted to create the kind of place we would love to discover ourselves: authentic to Santa Fe, full of character, and thoughtfully equipped for the 21st century.
