Affordable luxury on the beach in Kihei

I had the most relaxing stay at this property. The ground floor condo was perfect for walking straight out to enjoy your day at the pool, beach, or just relaxing. The unit was clean and nicely updated. Very cute and friendly property. Would definitely stay again.

Overall, we were quite pleased with the accommodations. Everything was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the kitchen was well set up with most things one needs to prepare meals, including coffee bean grinder, garlic press and lots of good pots and pans. The only thing it could use more of was spoons -- there were only 3 soup spoons and 3 teaspoons. Bathroom was clean, shower pressure great, and lots of towels and soaps, etc. The location is superb. Being on the ground floor in front of the park with the beach just beyond was absolutely fabulous and because it faces west, it was a true pleasure each evening to watch the sunset from the lanai. We we also enjoyed very much having morning coffee and watching the birds in the morning. There were lots of beach and pool toys, swim towels, and cooler for enjoying the beach, but the beach chairs were not great (old, uncomfortable, and one was broken). However, I did reach out to the owner to let her know and she answered promptly thanking me for letting her know and saying she would order new chairs. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy the new chairs so that was a bit disappointing because we love going to the beach and spend a fair bit of our time in Maui at the beach. We would highly recommend this place for beach and sunset lovers, and if you want a place just a little bit away from the very busy end of Kihei without being too far from anything.

Incredible Sunsets and Perfect Location

My wife and I stayed here for a week, and we didn't want to leave. The ground floor condo is part of a quiet complex near restaurants and services. You look out over a beautiful grassy park, with the ocean and mountain in the distance. The kitchen is well stocked, and the pool is steps away. The owners were available for questions, and even let us stay past checkout because we had a late flight. Kihei is convenient to all the attractions on Maui that we were interested in: airport, snorkeling tour, Iao Valley, Road to Hana, Haleakala.

Ask about early check in and never heard back. Check in process and box needs to be better marked. Bed was only a queen room was big enough for a king or two twins. Pool was pretty small. The recycling needed to be bigger. Kitchen was well equipped but need dish cloth.

The homeowner would like to share the following message: "Thank you for your review. We're sorry you received no response to your early check-in query. Our on-island contact, Christy, and owner respond to these immediately, but neither received a message from you. There is only one lockbox at the manager's office, but we have updated the check-in instructions to reflect that it's between the door and the window. We do put a new sponge in the kitchen with each guest, but can also add a dishcloth. The charm of Leina’ala is that it is a small complex, only 24 units, is very quiet and away from the road. It’s true the pool is smaller than the huge complexes, but the trade-off is that every unit at Leina’ala has a full, unobstructed oceanfront view from the kitchen, living room, and lanai, whereas, in larger complexes, many times your view from inside the unit will be looking across at other units." Awesome views

We loved the location. Pool right next to the condo. Watching the sunrise every night was a treat. The sliding door could definitely use some work. The track on the bottom is worn right out and needs to be replaced. Need to slam it to shut. Ants were also an issue. I see that there are ant killing packs set around the kitchen but they did next to nothing. They were always all over the counter and next to the dishwasher/oven. All in all a small price to pay, we enjoyed our time here and love Maui!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Leina’ala, the beautiful views, and the location. - We are very sorry the sliding glass door was a problem and wanted you to know we have had a new one on order. Unfortunately, due to the supply chain issues our world is experiencing, the door will not arrive for 20-22 weeks. - In the meantime, we have had the door serviced with new rollers, but we're sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. - We also apologize for the ants. Although the building is regularly treated for pests as is customary in Hawaii, at certain times of the year, they can be a problem. We have found the only way to avoid them is to have absolutely no food available, the smallest crumb on the counter, drip, or food in the trash will bring them out. Once they realize there is no food, they are gone. - Thank you again for your review and for being our guest!"

2 Weeks Stay

The property is fantastic with a gorgeous view and easy access to the beach. We could walk out our ground floor condo any time to see the whales or sunset. The kitchen was very well supplied with pots and pans, dishes, knives and utensils, so cooking was easy. The community grill worked great. It was nicely furnished, however, our biggest complaint was the small and uncomfortable futon style couch. It was very stiff and shallow. Not at all worth sitting on more than a few minutes. Thank heavens there were other chairs. This same couch is billed as a full size, but it is not that large. The hard, metal spine of the futon makes it nearly impossible to use the center! We had 2 adult visitors for a weekend and they survived, but we felt badly that the unit didn't offer better sleeping conditions. I would say it is good for a family of 3 and no more, unless there are very small children. The unit is pretty small and closet space is minimal. There's no place to hide luggage and only a few drawers for clothes. Overall it was a very good experience. The view and accessability made it worth it to us.

We’re happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, the condo overall, and the amenities. We are sorry your guests had an uncomfortable two nights on the futon sofa bed. As it is a full-size (not queen) bed, we recommend in our “Description of Amenities” that the futon is suitable for one adult or two children - not two adults. Guest comfort is very important to us, and we have since replaced the futon sofa with a queen-size sofa sleeper with a memory foam mattress, which is super comfortable for both sitting and sleeping! Thank you again for writing and for being our guest.

Was a great stay property was clean and every thing was there and then some . We had a very nice time . Very peaceful place , yet close to everything . Even saw turtles out front in the ocean . Thing that does need attention is sliding door and screen door ended up just opening screen and leaving it open . No bugs so just fine .

Way better than staying in a hotel

From the minute we stepped on to the property to when we left was just flawless. Check in was easy, the unit felt like a second home and I could reheat my leftovers!! Perfect place to watch the sunset while standing in the ocean. I loved the cooler, we so needed one, chairs too! And that's the little things that mattered most. The surrounding neighbors were quiet and peaceful. The furniture was cute and comfy and plenty of bedding for the week. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for letting us rest our head in your home.

Clean, small, excellent location

Pros: Responsive staff. Fairly easy check in, get the key from a Dropbox. Clean. Beachfront access and views just a walk across the lawn. Pool is right outside the unit. First floor easy entry. Fully stocked kitchen. Plenty of toys, chairs, snorkels for beach days. Extra linens and towels in the closet. Some bathroom soaps included. Kihei is a great town with easy beach access and lots of great restaurants and food trucks close by. Cons: Check in requires physical keys and a code to the lockbox etc, it would be nice if the door had an electronic keypad so we didn’t have to carry the key around all day. I was worried we would lose it at the beach. The unit had some old rugs and pillows and the couch upholstery needed to be cleaned. I’m pretty sensitive to cleanliness so most people probably would notice any issues but it overall could have been better. We noticed a few ants in the kitchen and bathroom but that’s to be expected in hawaii. Also some of the decor is a little weird with off center art in the bedroom. Also the water heater closet smells musty like mold and that’s where spare towels were. I wish it were possible to lock the slider door from the outside so we could go straight to the beach instead of having to walk all around the complex to get to the beach and also lock up our unit. It would be nice to have boogie boards with the other beach stuff. No body wash soap was provided, only cheap shampoo and conditioner. Would have been nice to have all three soaps. Overall this is a really great budget friendly place for a small group wanting an easy place to stay in Kihei.

Shared from the owner: Aloha Brookie, thank you for your review and suggestions. We truly appreciate hearing from our guests, and wanted to update you on some of the changes we’ve made. We now have a keyless entry, much easier for guests. Although we did not see that the sofa needed cleaning, we have recently replaced it with a new larger queen-size sleeper sofa with a super-comfortable memory foam mattress. We also could not detect a mold smell in the linen/water heater closet. It is completely dry, and warm from the water heater, with the only smell being laundry soap. Although small, the shampoo, conditioner and soap are not cheap, but are a very nice island scent that we provide complimentary for our guests.

Nice location, short drive from airport . Although unit had a full kitchen , I only used the toaster, coffee maker and fridge. The food trucks nearby were awesome and provided local food at a great price with huge services. Dinner at Cuatro Restaurant (Spicy Tuna Nachos) and Rib Eye with chimichurri sauce was yummy! Nice Patio and pool which I enjoyed in morning for sunrise and afternoon at sunset. Female traveling alone felt safe and other tenants/ visitors ((only 14 units) were friendly and courteous. Close to activities, shopping and felt like I was a resident of the area. As previously noted, the futon lacks comfort and should be updated to something more substantial. Washer and dryer outside of unit very convenient and reasonable in price. Laundry detergent provided in unit. Enjoyed the unit and location and would stay here again. !!

Perfect location, place! The weather was perfect, the whales put on a show. Turtles in the bay, and the bird watching was wonderful.

Perfect place!

Great location, clean and bright. Great for kids, huge grassy area right out front where kids can run and play. A few short steps and you’re on the beach which is also fine for kids, swimming etc. tennis courts available and the owners have racquets and balls for your use. They really have thought of everything, even laundry soap and ziplock bags. Kitchen set up was perfect for fixing meals. Did I mention it was clean! Manager responsive (we locked ourselves out) Great place, will be back.
