Relax and Explore

An excellent place to stay to explore east and west Cotswolds. The cottage was delightful, well stocked, bright and convenient to Sudeley Castle and walking trails. Conveniently access to Cheltenham and the train station.

Lovely stay in the cottages. Great location for visiting the castle.

The cottages are only a few minutes walk to the castle and have ample parking. Tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We would have liked a baking tray in the kitchen and the shower tray in main bathroom is flat allowing water to flow onto bathroom floor. Beds are comfortable and all rooms are of a good size. Really enjoyed our stay

Scratched walls, sadly when two people showered, only one privided hot water, and all of the fttings were rusty, need updating

An English adventure

What a delightful and spacious cottage. Having access to Sudeley Castle is a big advantage. It is also very close to the town, shop and pubs. There are many beautiful walks close by. The cottage are done very tasteful inside and has everything you need for your stay. The rooms are big as well as the 2 bathrooms. Would choose this specific cottage anytime again and would recommend it for someone who enjoys a true authentic English country holiday.

Great stay in lovely part of the countryside

Comfortable accommodation in the grounds of Sudely castle short walking distance from pubs etc. Staying here gives free access to the castle which was a bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

Cotswold Way

We enjoyed staying in this comfortable cottage while walking some of the Cotswold Way. Everything worked well and the location was particularly good for easy access to pubs and restaurants.

Relaxing stay in the Cotswolds

Good location with a short stroll into the quaint Cotswold village of Winchcombe. Free entry into Sudeley Castle as part of booking was an added bonus. Well equipped clean and comfortable property with good parking.

A stay at Winchcombe for a walking holiday

We cannot fault the location as it's perfect for the village amenities and walks right on the doorstep. The sofas and beds were comfortable and all the furniture was of good standard and well made. The tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were welcome along with the toiletries provided. The cottage itself was warm and welcoming but what let it down was the property could do with some decoration and some TLC where radiators and the bath/shower have leaked and the woodwork and walls were grubby and the woodwork has swollen with water ingress and just made rooms look scruffy along with the cobwebs and the stained and ripped duvet covers. When stripping the beds at the end of our stay (as we always do) we noticed the mattresses were stained too. The main bedroom mirror was full of dust and certain areas appeared not to have been cleaned in a while. We found chocolate muffins well past their sell by date in the kitchen cupboard. A previous guest has also burnt the carpet near the kitchen with an iron which also makes the cottage appear unkempt. The kitchen crockery is a mismatch and chipped and an extra large baking tray would have been appreciated. The water in the taps is exceptionally hot wheras if you want a hot shower you'll be disappointed. It would have been nice to have some local information available at the cottage and we missed having a visitor book to read as we always enjoy other people's recommendations whilst on holiday. It didn't detract from our holiday, it was just not what we expected and left us a little disappointed but we would stay again, as the location is fabulous but next time we know what to expect. Added bonus was getting into the castle free which is full of history and well worth a visit.

Cotwswoldian Cottage Bliss

Incredibly adorable cottage with great amenities, a perfect location to walk into Winchcombe to a variety of pubs and restaurants, and tons of parking. Access to Sudeley Castle being included was a great bonus and we will definitely be returning!

Nice cottage in a great location

Stayed in Sudeley castle cottages a few times. Nice cosy cottages in a great location. The only negative comment would be that the outside patio and seating areas are not looked after and are full of weeds. A bit of a let down as the cottages are nice and clean inside.

Wonderful place to stay!

My wife and I stayed in this cottage after our wedding at Sudeley Castle. It was absolutely delightful, with a well supplied kitchen, clean bathrooms and a really comfortable bedroom. Superb location close to Winchcombe and the castle, and the group of cottages made it suitable to have our family stay close by. Amazing stay, would absolutely recommend and stay again.

Our stay at Bolthole Retreats, Lord High Admiral Cottage, Sudeley Castle

We really enjoyed our stay. All amenities were available and the cottage was extremely comfortable. Highly delighted with the welcome pack. Car parking was very good. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this cottage.

For the perfect short break

We enjoyed our stay in this very well maintained cottage. Everything was comfortable. Easy parking, well equipped kitchen, nice big bedrooms with good sized bathrooms plus situated in the perfect location. Walks straight from the doorstep. Free admission to Sudely castle. Unfortunately no dogs allowed.

Enjoyable stay

My friends stayed in this property & we were able to get together very easily from nearby cottage. Good kitchen facilities - shame there wasn’t a dishwasher. Lovely bedrooms & en-suite was a plus. Enjoyed their stay & appreciated the free entrance to the castle & gardens.

small areas require attention

Welcome pack was appreciated. Main bedroom...En suite shower hose was dirty and plastic trim where shower screen meets the bath needs replacing. Low level dust on furniture. Twin room...nice cushions, not so nice pillows. 2nd bathroom needs a shelf and prompt attention to loose skirting board, mould reaching from there into shower. Downstairs windows very dirty. A second rail on the stairs would be helpful for safety.

Fabulous

We walked in to a warm and cosy, clean, beautifully presented cottage with everything provided that you might need for a short break. The Christmas tree was a lovely touch. Great location, quiet and just a short (slightly uphill) walk into Winchcombe. The only issue was parking. Although there is a large car park, it was full in the evenings. Perhaps marked bays would encourage more considerate parking?

Wonderful Stay in the Cotswolds

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lord High Admiral cottage at Sudeley Castle. The cottage was clean and comfortable and conveniently located close to town so we were able to walk to pick up groceries and go out to dinner at the quaint pubs. Also a short walk through a field with sheep to get to the Castle which was amazing! I wish we could have stayed longer in this beautiful and historic area of England!

Fine place to stay.

The Lord High Admiral is ok for 4 persons. It’s a nice building in a lovely little street. It’s almost perfect. I missed a toilet on the ground floor. And in my opinion the tefal frying pan should be replaced: it’s damaged. We had a nice time.

Winchcombe stay

We were 2 couples staying for 3 nights and the cottage was perfectly placed for walk into the centre and the shops. Close to Cheltenham and other Cotswold villages for visits. Sudely Castle close by but not open in November so will come back again when it is. Staff in the grounds were vey friendly. Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels supplied.
