Casa Margherita Residenze Seicento

Casa Suffragio is a panoramic apartment with terrace located on the top floor of antique palace with elevator, inside the walls of Lucca. It is very central located, in 1 min walking from the main shopping street and from Piazza San Michele. The area is no traffic allowed so it is very very quiet. The apartment is fully air conditioned and has Wi-Fi connection.

Composition: entrance, large living rooms, dining room and fully equipped kitchen, 1 king size bedroom, a wardrobe room, 1 full bathroom. There is also an extra sleeping area to accommodate 1 child.

From the living room/kitchen there is access to the terrace with spectacular view over the roofs of Lucca, from where you can enjoy the piano from the nearby music school. The terrace is fully furnished with chairs and table to have breakfast, dining, or simply relax reading a book or with a drink and your loved one while watching the sunset.

There is a laundry room with washing machine in the palace which is in common with another rental apartment.

Overall very nice. Staff was kind and very accommodating. Check-in process was a bit off, as the regular mgr of the property was away. Staff worked hard to help fix lack of hot water and a faulty shower. This tarnished our stay just a bit. Just know the bldg is older and very dark. There is a small elevator (just for 1), otherwise need to use 3 flights of steps. Neighborhood/location are both wonderful! Great view from the terrace while eating lunch/sipping wine. Overall, a good experience with just a couple of minor challenges.

Awesome terrace! Great quiet location.

A very livable spot for a week in Lucca. Spectacular view of the tower, and the hills beyond. We really enjoyed the terrace and we’re out there every night. The kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the full-size refrigerator. Check in was very good. We definitely would return.

View, Location and Music!

The terrace view of the mountains, tower, and Music School were like a perfect postcard image of historic Italy. But the musicians and students playing throughout the day and evening made it magical. Ms Sonia was very helpful and the apartment , and building were beautiful. She also provided bicycles for riding thru the streets and wall of Lucca. We miss it already❤

Lovely space - really bright, clean, homely, stylish. Particularly enjoyed the private terrace - lovely views and great sun spot. Be mindful that there are multiple flights of stairs from street level to apartment - fine if you're fit, but could be tiresome sometimes (especially in the heat/after a busy day/with luggage!). Great to have use of bikes (though, check for flat tyres) and great location - quiet but central. I would recommend staying here if you visit Lucca.

Perfect location

A charming apartment for a four week stay. The location is central to restaurants and shops. The terrace was a delight for having meals and drinks. The kitchen was well supplied and modern. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There is a small elevator but we preferred to take the many steps up to the apartment. I realize that may not work for everyone. However, that way we could enjoy a daily gelato.

Perfect in Lucca

Everything it promises. Charming apartment with a beautiful view. Perfect location. 10 mins to train. Lots of stairs but small price to pay considering everything else. Kitchen is fully appointed but who wants to cook in a city with some of the best food in the area. So quiet at night. Bravos to Mrs Sonia and her reps.

Perfect apartment with impressive terrace in Lucca

This apartment was just right for our lovely stay in Lucca. It was an easy walk to everywhere from the apartment (the train station was a very easy walk, and then the wall with the beautiful park was really steps away). The apartment was furnished with everything we needed, including kitchen items for cooking. The apartment owner was helpful, and it was very easy to arrange to meet to get and return the keys. I would highly recommend this for your stay in Lucca! The apartment has elevator leading to the magnificent terrace. We spent many hours watching the incredibly beautiful view. We will never forget. Very comfortable and excellent apartment

You will feel at home when you pass through the antique door at the street and you will stop to breathe when the elevator doors will open onto the most beautiful terrace I have ever seen in my lifetime. This is a spacious, comfortable multi-level apartment overlooking the roofs and the town of Lucca, it is fully appointed inside and featuring wonderful outdoor living space. Day trip opportunities are plentiful. We did not have an automobile, instead relying on taxis, buses and trains to ferry us back and forth to Florence, Pisa, Siena and the seaside. The train and bus station are in just 5 mins walking from the apartment. The owner was so sweet when he met us and we arranged for his cook to prepare dinner for us one evening. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. . Everything was as advertised, and we enjoyed our stay at this comfortable, private retreat in Lucca.

Quiet but central location & beautiful terrace

Well equipped and charming apartment. The main feature is the beautiful terrace with views of Torre Guinigi, the Lucca roof tops and the mountains in the distance. As other reviewers have mentioned there is a music school across the piazza which makes the experience of having coffee/breakfast on the terrace extra special. As is the case in the historic centre of Lucca there are many stairs to climb but they were manageable and a trade-off if you want beautiful views. We made use of the bicycles provided which was a lovely convenience. Mrs Sonia provides a file with some amazing information on supermarkets, restaurants, wine shops, sightseeing, transport etc etc. which we found to be very helpful! There is even information on where to buy gluten free foods which we found to be a great help too.

Highly Recommendable!

We have just spent a week in this Lucca hideaway. As other reviews have indicated, the location of this apartment is perfect. It was amazing to walk out of the door and have the antique church of St Giulia, the magnificent antique shops street and the St. Michele Square right on our doorstep! Whilst these are busy tourist attractions, the apartment itself is in a quiet, secure area surrounded by a charming atmosphere . Sonia is a fantastic host. She met us on our arrival and explained everything about the apartment before taking us a tour of the local area, pointing out places to eat and shop, including the local supermarket, greengrocers and bakery. Everything in the apartment was as described in the literature. The apartment was large and comfortable, on the third floor - with elevator! had thoughtfully provided maps, leaflets and books about Lucca - much appreciated. There was plenty of literature on Tuscany and surrounds and the handbook provided told us everything we needed to know. The location allowed us to walk to all of the major attractions (and we did!) and we also took a bus trip to Florence and a train trip to Cinque Terre, which was interesting and informative. We enjoyed a meal at nearby Canuleia on our last evening and lunch at Gli Orti Via Elisa, a lovely trattoria just across the apartment’s street. We would certainly recommend this apartment. The apartment is as described. Anyone complaining about the location of the shower, the steps to the loft, the size of the loft, etc. did not carefully review the photosread the description and reviews. The description could be clearer about access to the apartment the only practical way in and out is by taking the many stairs and using three different keys. We, who are not spring chickens, did not mind the steps at all, especially because they led to an apartment with a sunny veranda that afforded great views of tiled rooftops, towers, and beautiful hills beyond. During our two-week stay, we ate many meals in the apartment. We found the kitchen to be adequately equipped. We came to love Lucca and, in no small part, because of the location of this apartment. For us, the music from the school across the piazza added to the charm of the city. We were in very easy walking distance from groceries (Conad), fresh bread, pastries of all sorts, restaurants, take-away foods, gelato, beautiful churches and piazzas, the city wall, the train station, etc. All our interactions with the hosts were pleasant and helpful. Manuel, who greeted us and showed us the apartment, was especially friendly and generous with advice and tips. We loved our stay.

Great location but difficult stairs and tight living

Lucca is fantastic and a must visit-rent bikes, climb the tower, enjoy the city. Here are the pros and cons of this property: Pros: (1) the property manager was flexible about meeting early and had a very useful guide to Lucca and was responsive generally; (2) the location itself is very pleasant with sounds from the music school and nice views; (3) the refrigerator is spacious and the kitchen table comfortably seats four; (4) it’s private and quiet Cons: (1) be prepared to climb stairs and go through multiple weird passageways with different keys if you want to access the apartment without using a very old and slow one-person elevator-even if you’re fit, this gets tiresome and disincentivizes going in and out to explore; (2) the pictures are much brighter than the apt actually feels-the couch is small and rather uncomfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were not stocked for the length of our stay-sorting trash is a big deal in Lucca but there were no extra trash bags and I couldn’t locate them at a nearby market; (3) the washing machine is in a closet off a different stairwell and takes 3 hours per load, then you dry on your terrace with rusty or broken clips: (4) there were no bikes to use per an earlier comment BUT not a big deal because can rent bikes fairly easily and cheaply. In sum, Lucca is great, the apartment is in a nice location but with some downsides/could use a refreshing and a few more perks but still reasonable for the value paid.

The terrace 'in peace' inside Lucca

The apartment is excellently located in the centre of Lucca, but situated in a way that you get the best of both worlds, tranquillity and a central position, as the flat itself is at the top of a beautiful 12th century old building. The views are wide and breathtaking and are indeed the best there can be in Lucca, and include the entire old centre and the Tuscan hills all around. You need to see it to believe it as pictures can not even capture the ambiance of it all. The apartment comes out in the Piazza del Suffragio. To the right is the main street of Lucca, full of shops, which leads to the Via Fillungo. Parking can be done all around the old walls for freeinside the walls (on payment) for a reasonable fee. There is no garden, but something MUCH better, a deck terrace right outside the living room, which overviews the entire square area, complete with the church and the sky. It has lounge chairs/sofa with soft cushions with covers and a table with some chairs for delightful ambiance dinners. What I found most relaxing was just to take a lounge chair and sit and read, finding out that no matter how exciting your book is, you get drawn into the nearby and distant beauty of Lucca and surroundings. No building is out of place, there is nothing uglymodern, it is all typically rustic and very Tuscan! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? I would recommend this flat to everybody, as it really is the best there is in Lucca, it is so important to have nice views and be able to be outside in your house. This was one of the best holidays we have ever had and I wish I could go back tomorrow. The interior apartment is large and clean,and the terrace is spectacular and unique. The veranda area, which is covered by jasmine trees and complete with shade, is a delight to be in, very light and extremely quiet. We met the owner at arrival: so charming, a very helpful woman!

Hermosa ubicación

tuvimos un gran recibimiento por parte de Manuel que fue quien nos atendió a pesar de la diferencia idiomática no hubo ningún problema en entendernos, nos dio consejos de lo que podíamos ir ha visitar, restaurantes ,etcétera ,lo más destacable del apartamento es su terraza y las vistas, el apartamento estaba bien climatizado cosa que se agradece con la calor que hace, estaba bien equipado, tuvimos que bajar el colchón de la buhardilla y ponerlo en el suelo porque arriba hacia mucha calor, por poner una pega le faltaba luz en la cocina que no se veía cuando tenías que cocinar,es un sitio que volvería, gracias a Manuel por su gran recibimiento,
