Fun in Fowey!

Great house, views and location we didn't use the car all week just hopped on the ferries to go exploring. Amazing choice of pubs and restaurants locally but very glad I'd pre booked as everywhere was extremely busy. Weather was lousy which was a shame not to have been able to use the terrace but all in all a lovely trip. Thank you Beverley for your helpful and speedy email communication.

A happy stay in Fowey at La Folie

La Folie is a lovely, spacious and very comfortable house. Ideally located, close but not too close to the centre of Fowey, with picture-postcard views of Fowey harbour looking towards Polruan. The front balcony and the decked terrace at the rear were ideal places to relax and enjoy the views and the sea air. We had a very enjoyable fortnight here. It would have been perfect but for two minor issues: the downstairs bedroom felt slightly damp (perhaps not so surprising when you see that the house is built into the cliff); and the touch control system for the cooker hob was intermittently completely unresponsive, making cooking difficult at times.

Despite having an air exchange unit in place, unfortunately there is no getting away from occasional humidity in the height of summer. We just open the windows and doors like the Cornish do to help with this. The hob has been replaced.

Perfect location

Lovely view of the water from the deck and lounge. Short walk into town or the beach. Lots of stairs but everything we could have wanted for the week.

Amazing place, amazing location

Had an amazing stay here. Perfect location to walk into the town centre or Readymoney beach. Picturesque views from upstairs and we had an amazing firework display for the queens jubilee right outside the house on a barge. Very comfy beds and lots of space!

Fantastic

What’s not to like!! The house is fantastic, everything you could need for a home away from home is provided. The location is perfect and the views from the property are stunning. We were lucky with the weather and spent some great evenings on the sun deck with a few drinks after dinner. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed when you stay here. It’s quite simply perfect.

Excellent relaxation and foodie staycation

Four of us staying; husband and I, plus two (young adult) children which meant we each had a floor to ourselves. Comfortable beds. The house and location was even better than I'd expected. Turn left and walk five/ten minutes for just about everything. Turn right for Readymoney Cove and the little ferry to Polruan. All on your doorstep. Breakfast from one of about three bakeries. Coffee and pastries enjoyed either on the balcony or terrace. Both offer amazing views of the harbour. Lunches from the deli, a pasty from a bakery (which we ate on our half day hire boat), and a fab sandwich from Captain Hanks Crab Shack. Oh and lots of icecream options. Pintxo the tapas bar is virtually next door so we were regular visitors there too. (They're open 12 noon to 9pm). What else? Large TV screen (we were there for the Euro semis). We made one request during our stay and Jessica the housekeeper was on it straightaway. Basically, our stay was great!

Excellent and stylish base for a stay in Fowey

The house was in a perfect position right in the centre of Fowey and we were able to stroll a short distance to the shops and restaurants. The view over the estuary from the sitting room balcony was amazing. We enjoyed watching the boats coming and going. The house was very well equipped and was comfortable and a joy to stay in with its stylish interior. Beverley was an excellent host. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed long walks every day through beautiful countryside.

Very well maintained and presented property, with care clearly given to Covid-19 precautions. Everything we needed for our week in Fowey, with beautiful views over the estuary (when the weather co-operated!)

La Folie

Beautiful property, with a perfect location. Had everything we needed. Stunning views from outside sitting areas. Parking an added bonus too. We have stayed in Fowey a number of times and La Folie for sure has been our favourite so far. Will be definitely be looking at booking here again.

Perfect location and views

We had a lovely relaxing stay. The house is really lovely and comfortable. Bathroom was amazing. Huge kitchen with everything we needed. Fab views from the living room and terrace. We only used the king bedroom on the same floor as the kitchen (1st floor) and main bathroom but there was a lovely twin room on the top floor and a large double room on the ground floor. Loads of space for a family. Wish we had better weather so we could have used the sun terrace and balcony more. Great walks straight from the house and / minutes to the shops and restaurants. We really love Fowey and the surrounding area. Highly recommended and loads to do. Thanks Beverley for sharing your home 😊

Fantastic house and location

A beautiful house in a beautiful town. Or first time in Cornwall, the process of booking and communication with Beverley could not have been better. The house was lively and clean and all the little bits you could need were there to make or stay more comfortable. We'd highly recommend La Folie, and hope very much to return.

La Folie

We had a great time at this property. Having stayed in numerous properties on the Esplanade in the past, this one was in a great location; not too far from the center of town or Readymoney beach. The house is well appointed with clean bright rooms and a fabulous kitchen. Sadly, previous guests had not done the right thing and put utensils away in a dirty state. So we needed to wash them before use. Not a major problem, just slightly irritating. We liked the look of the house so much and booked it, despite the actual layout not being shown on the website. We were advised "upfront" by the owner that the house was not set up for babies or toddlers. However we had a great time and brought our own travel cot and stair gate, so no problem. We were 4 x adults and 1 x 18 month old. Would we book this lovely property again? Definitely!

Excellent holiday property

Lovely stay at La Folie. Relaxing house with stunning views. Really appreciated the tips for eating out. We loved the Lifebuoy cafe, Sams & the Bufala pizza restaurant. Within easy driving distance of the lost gardens of Heligan & the Eden project. We also had great fun hiring boats for a few hours, kayaking & taking a ferry trip over to Polruan. The house was well equipped, comfortable, in an excellent location & catered for everything we needed during our stay. A lovely find!

Fowey in the Rain

Even though the weather was a bit wet, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at La Folie. The house is lovely, light and spacious.Apparently it is referred to as the posh house, this probably being due to how it has been tastefully renovated. It has a very welcoming feel and coming back from an excursion slightly damp always felt like home.The ability to go for a short walk to the centre of lovely Fowey even better

A delightful home from home

First visit to La Folie and Fowey couldn’t have been better- we loved the position, the relaxed and comfortable living rooms and the large live-in kitchen. Fowey offered all we needed for the week within a few footsteps and the longer walks were stunning.

Short break at La Folie in Fowey

A really lovely property on the best road in Fowey. La Folie is very comfortable with wonderful views from the living room. Very well equipped and a great area outside to enjoy the great weather we had! Climbing up to the Central carpark is quite a challenge - very good exercise! Will certainly go back.
