My husband and I stayed two nights for a weekend get-away. This place was just as advertised. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. It was close enough to Crockett that we made a morning trip for breakfast, groceries, and site seeing. We would definitely stay here again.
Wife wanted a quiet bday. Spent the wknd. The hosts were so kind thoughtful and friendly. Loved the back porch. Will be coming back. Thanks Sarah and Larry!!
This is my 3rd time staying here and I will be back again and again. It is my go-to place for peace, serenity, and recharging. The hosts are amazing and the place is extraordinary.
Very nice spot to relax and rejuvenate. Itâs a little of the beaten path but a great place to get away from the rat race. Awesome hosts and very accommodating. We sure hope we can go back again sometime.
This our 4th stay, it is very close to Houston, TX but quiet and away from the big city, perfect to relax and recharge. The dark skies in Kennard make it perfect for stargazing in a quiet and safe place close to your cabin, don't forget to order snacks for the night. We got great images from Orion's nebula as well as the Leo's triplet (3 galaxies in Leo's constellation).
This is my third time staying here and as always it was perfect Sarah and Bruce are so amazing and helpful. I messed up breakfast order and without hesitation they helped me.
I always come here to be alone and regroup and I will be back!
This was just what we needed! Peace and quiet not far from home. Sara and Larry have thought of everything! Our favorite part was just sitting on the screened in porch with NO BUGS and just relax. Weâll be back when we can come and enjoy their amazing Sunday buffet.
Delightful respite from our usual busy lifestyle. Such a fun opportunity to indulge in all they had to offer. If you're going to MAKE time to get away - TAKE the time to enjoy the perks!
They offer a delicious breakfast (farm-to-table) cooking; picnic lunch excursion included in their rentable Jeep tour AND don't miss out on their Sunday lunch buffet. Their attention to detail is impressive and heartwarming! Looking forward to another visit!
My husband and I stopped here between home and Alexandria, LA, on our way to visit his mother. I am so glad we stayed at this location rather than electing to stay at some random hotel. The back patio's view at sunset is breathtaking! You can tell how much thought went into the place, down to the tiniest details! We enjoyed listening to your record collection while cooking, eating, and winding down for the night! We will be returning and are sad we could only stay one night! Thank you!
**As a disabled person, having a grab bar in the shower would be a fantastic addition! Otherwise, very handicap accessible!
This cabin is perfect for a real country getaway. Woods, pond, fresh air, and starry nights were ideal for our getaway from reality. The breakfasts delivered each morning helped us start the day right and then lounging by the pool or on the screened in porch for the day helped continue the lazy, relaxing feel. The owners were very responsive to my texts questions (thanks for your patience).
the kitchen was not super stocked with pans or cooking
utensils but a quick text to owners and they brought us what we needed.
As we wanted to unplug, the WiFi issues were not a problem. But for those that are expecting 4 bars all the time, remember this is in the middle of woods so probably wont happen.
Definitely will be back!
The property itself is nice and exactly how it was advertised which is why I gave it a 4. It's very remote yet there is a nice tv, Dominos and wifi. There is not a lot to do on property, and you need to be a bit adventurous and not worried about getting lost. However, we had trouble getting there as my nav took us to the middle of nowhere on an unpaved rocky road, and I lost cell coverage for a good 10 miles. It took me at least 1 1/2 hours of circling, trying different routes and finally getting a call from the owners, before I was able to locate the property with their guidance (I tried to call several times but had lost internet and cell connection). I would make sure to ask for landmarks and better directions in order to avoid this in the future. Also, we came from Houston and it seemed nothing was around us. As we headed back towards Dallas the next morning we realized that Crockett was not too far away. Had we also known this it would have made our experience better as we didn't bring food and with spotty cell service didn't have lunch or dinner that day in fear of getting lost again.
Larry & Sara were always available to assist with any questions. The cabin was clean and well equipped. The setting is quiet and peaceful, just what I wanted.
We stayed in the cabin with the screened in back porch and a pond in the back yard. We watched the turtles and listened to the birds. I would definitely recommend this little piece of heaven and tranquility.
