This is a lovely home! Perfect get away for a family with everything you need to feel as if you are at home.Very peaceful and relaxing with every bit of quiet time you need. The basement is a perfect "kidcave/mancave" your family will love.

Our family of six just stayed here and absolutely loved this place. The home owner has put a lot of time into that backyard space and it definitely shows. We spent a lot of our time fishing off the dock and kayaking (also took out the canoe). The home inside had everything we needed & very much enjoyed our stay as a family. We also ventured out 20 mins and enjoyed Jake's place for dinner by the lake and rode on the VA Dare to see the rest of the lake. Also visited SML community park where there were trails to walk on and a fishing dock and beach. Come visit!

Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away at the Lake with my family. The host was very responsive and accommodating. Days we spent on the sun deck and the boat dock fishing and soaking up the sun. We brought our boat and that was a piece of cake getting it on an out of the dock. Makes it so much easier when the water is deep around the dock and not to mention the fishing was great in the cove. Thank you so much for letting us stay here! We will definitely be back!

The host was very quick to respond. The house was well equipped in the kitchen and bathroom, including shampoo, conditioner & body wash. The home was cozy, yet roomy. Game room in the basement was fun. A beautiful view of a small cove on the lake.

My fiancée and I spent an amazing week here. The weather was beautiful, the location was great and the house was amazing. Couldn't of asked for a better vacation. Our primary reason for going on this vacation was to just relax and that's exactly what we did. We only left the house 1 time to refresh our groceries and go out to lunch one day. We had all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing retreat

Very nice stay. Spacious (for 4), clean and great location. Wonderful dock (rented a pontoon boat), kayaks provided, and updated kitchen and bathroom. Could use new mattresses, but overall, sweet.

While I appreciate the review, would have been nice to have some real feedback here. I heard nothing negative from this guest during his stay. However, this guest did leave a note at the house(that I found a week after his stay) with a couple of comments: a couple of burned out lightbulbs, a leak in the shower faucet, and that the new umbrella for the deck was still in the box and not installed yet. I always ask guests to let me know about any issues, if I don’t hear about it, I can’t fix it. I could have easily directed him to the cabinet with all of the lightbulbs. I could have had my handyman come fix the shower(has now been fixed) and open the box to set up the umbrella(which required no assembly). For future guests, please let me know about issues so I can make them right. Thanks.

Vacation!

We had a wonderful time during our four night stay! The kids loved jumping off the dock, swimming, and kayaking. There were lots of wildlife in the area which was pretty neat to see and hear. We got to take our dog with us and that made our family vacation complete. Thank you!

Lovely winter retreat

Wonderful lakeside, wooded retreat. Clean, easy to find everything we needed and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed to be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

We had a lovely fall week at SML. The house is as advertised, with 3 bedrooms plus additional sleeping options in the basement. It’s not a new house but appears well maintained and updated. The kitchen is large and sufficient to eat most meals at home, and the beds were quite comfy. The dock is great - we rented a pontoon boat and got to enjoy both the cove and cruising the lake. As noted in other reviews, the driveway is steep but was no problem for either our van or compact suv. Recommend!

Great family fun

We have stayed here several times on spring break to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Is the perfect dock for hanging out with friends and family, and the teens love the pool table and their own space downstairs, the adults love the big table upstairs to play cards. Owners have updated the main bathroom and the basement since we stayed there last, which is really nice.

Beutiful Location for Families

My dad's family is from Bedford. We brought our son, DIL, and grandson to visit the Bedford area. I spent so much time in VA as a child that we wanted them to see the area as a vacation spot. We loved the location and the range of activities at the house and in the surrounding area. We hope to come back when it is warmer to fish more.

Nice place on lake

Nice place to stay on the lake. Fit our needs perfectly. Party deck was great place to hang out and chat! Lots of outdoor area to relax from the swings to the fire pit to the party deck. A leaf blower would have been a good amenity as we visited in the fall and the driveway and patio area were covered with leaves. Other than that, great place to stay in the lake!
