We have been to SML around 4 times before and we can honestly say this was the best house for rent with all the amenities, the location was perfect and all the little extras with the decorations (bears, fish, outdoors) were very nice. The dock and shore location was excellent. We hope to be back soon!

Very cozy cabin feel. Loved the vibes. Low lake and frequent rain ( not owners control) hampered activities a bit. But the porch with the swings. Made it very bearable. Think you guys should include a “ bear hunt”. Sheet for the cabin as an activity. I now have washing machine envy. Lake view in am was awesome.

Charming home, rustic and warm, incredible views, water access, and hot tub. Being down by Smith Mountain and watching sun and moon rises were top notch! Great host, communication, and ease of the business side of vacationing.

Just know that the lake is 5-6ft below normal. Couldn’t get down to the dock. Beach area was great for our dogs.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review — we really appreciate it. We’re sorry the record low lake level made it tough getting down to the floating dock during your stay. SW Virginia is experiencing extreme drought and the lake was sitting about 5 feet below normal at the time — lower than most of us have ever seen. That fixed-to-floating dock transition definitely got trickier than usual, and we wish it hadn’t been an issue for you. We’ve since installed taller stairs from the floating dock, so access will be easier the next time we experience a record drought. And we’re happy to report the lake has come up a bit — it’s now only 3 feet below normal; too late for you but great for the rest of the summer. We’re glad you and the dogs enjoyed the walk-in beach — that soft entry is one of our favorite features. On the bright side, we still have a solid 10 feet of water depth off the end of the dock, so tying up a boat has not been a problem (unlike many other places on the lake where docks are dry). We do regret that the 8 out of 10 rating will likely hurt our visibility in future searches, but we truly value your feedback. We’d love to welcome you and the pups back when the lake is behaving itself again. In the meantime, thanks again for staying with us. Best regards, Mark and Chris

Our stay was wonderful. The gorgeous, expansive views of the lake were spectacular! We saw deer & 2 fawns several times throughout the week from the kitchen window & in the backyard. The host was always very responsive and the house was immaculate. The spacious family room/dining area provided incredible views of the lake. The electric fireplace is a lovely addition to the family room. The pool table on the lower level was so much fun - also with a great view of the lake. Two of us used the hot tub & enjoyed it very much. We used the kayaks & paddle board for every sunrise. The master br from the bed provided breath-taking views of the sunrise over the lake every morning. We’ve added some beautiful sunrise pictures from the bed. We loved our stay here.

The log cabin was great for a long weekend getaway for me and my husband as well as our pups. The lake front views are great at all times, the yard is big enough for games and fun.

We had a great anniversary trip at the relaxing and beautiful location on the lake. We enjoyed the kayaks provided, while exploring the lake and nearby islands. We enjoyed hiking in the state park, which is very close. Then we enjoyed recovering from all our kayaking and hiking in the hot tub under the stars. The cabin was very cozy and the morning sunrise was amazing.
