NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW

Flamingo Beach House is located on North Captiva Island, a secluded, car-free barrier island known for pristine beaches, lush landscapes, and a relaxed Old Florida atmosphere.

The island is ideal for guests seeking a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Popular activities include shelling, bird watching, fishing, kayaking, and exploring nearby wildlife preserves.

GETTING AROUND / TRANSIT

Island Access: North Captiva is only accessible by boat or small private plane. No cars are allowed. Parking at the mainland Welcome Center is $10 per day.

Golf carts are the primary mode of transportation on the island. This home does not include a golf cart, but rentals are available through The Island Club and can be arranged in advance.

The nearest commercial airports are Fort Myers and Punta Gorda. Guests should plan ahead for groceries and essentials, as on-island shopping options are limited.

IMPORTANT NOTES AND HOUSE RULES

Luggage Assistance Included (Admiral Home):
As an Admiral Home guest, luggage assistance is included with your stay. An Island Club team member will load your luggage onto the ferry and deliver it directly to the home upon your arrival. A team member will also be waiting at the ferry dock to assist and ensure a smooth arrival experience.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Flamingo Beach was exactly as described, beautifully furnished, with a fabulous location! It could have been cleaned a little better, especially with a crawling baby in our group. (Ex. old peanuts and candy just under edges of sofa on floor and dirt/bugs inside sliding glass door tracks). NCIC management company was a different story...unorganized, unprofessional, & not helpful at all. We didn’t even have enough towels/washcloths for 1 per person until 3 days after arrival. Our golf cart was not even charged enough to get us to the property upon arrival and died several times on top of the map & verbal directions given to our home were incorrect. The young ladies in the island office seemed to care more about flirting with some young men than doing their jobs. That part was very frustrating!

Perfect Location, Exceptional Home!

Extended family vacation with ages ranging from 6-70, and this was the perfect place to be. The location is amazing, steps from the beach with the most beautiful sunsets every night. When sitting at the large farmers table on the porch it truly looks like you are inside a postcard. The house is impeccably decorated. So much thought and care went into appointing the home, right down to the bedrooms, porches and lower outdoor living space. The pictures capture it, but it’s even better in person. The master bedroom with sliders leading to a large porch seating areas is a showstopper. There is even a fun feature not depicted in the photos, I won’t ruin the surprise! The kitchen is nicely stocked with pots, pans, blender, Keurig (dual, k cups and drip coffee pot), and lots of other utensils needed to create a meal. There are 3 full baths, 1 on the living area level, along with 2 queen bedrooms, a second upstairs with 2 more bedrooms (queen room and bunk room) and a 3rd huge bathroom in the king master suite. The water filtration system was fixed, no sulphur smell at all. We did have a little trouble with golf carts, I suggest you upgrade to a 6 person (nicer and more reliable) with NCIC if at all possible. You go to North Cap for the adventure and not for the service, you have to understand that going in. It’s a magical place that does take a little extra work and flexibility to fully enjoy. We love the island and have rented several other houses in the past, we will definitely be looking to rent this one again soon!!! Thank you to the owners for being the caretakers of this fanatic property!

The PERFECT Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Pros: paradise! The same beach/shells/water as Sanibel without the touristy feeling. The house's location is just as described, mere steps from the ocean. Incredible sunsets. The water is calm and beautiful, and we saw dolphins and tarpon every day. TWICE a manatee swam within 15' of me! We found sand dollars on the sand bar south of the house, but had to go 50 yards offshore to find them. It was an adventure! There are also lots of sea turtle nests staked off up and down the beach.Cons: As others have said, the golf cart fleet desperately needs an upgrade. I will leave it at that. We had ants all over our kitchen, and they got into an unopened donut box and a cereal box before we realized we needed to keep all food on the table. It's an island, so I know it's hard to manage bugs. Speaking of bugs... mosquitos, black gnats, and sand fleas! Bring bug spray. Tips: Use the grocery service. WORTH IT. We rented a boat one day and had a fabulous time. It was hard to nail down the details of the house and what it came with (needs to be listed somewhere so people can plan) but I will tell you that there is a propane grill, coffee pot with carafe AND keurig, mediocre blender, plenty of dishes, silverware, cups, pans,for our party of 10.They provide plenty of kitchen trashbags, the dishwasher does not work well, and there are a ton of beach towels. There are 2 queen rooms on the first floor, and a queen room, master suite, and bunk room on the second floor. The master suite does not have curtains, so while it's incredible to wake up to THE VIEW, be sure to pack a sleep mask if you want to sleep in. The property was gorgeous and well maintained, the staff is friendly, and we would definitely recommend this home/island to anyone! Tip for the welcoming staff - we arrived on a sunday evening in a downpour. We were handed a map, the keys to the house, and pointed to the golf cart and that was it. We had no idea where to go. We found it and had no other

Reviewer Comments: Let me first say that getting there and preparing for everything that goes along with traveling to North Captiva Island is a lot more than we expected. The location is spectacular, the staff was great! What we did not expect was that there would be a lot of beachers coming onto the beach right in front of the house. Also something to consider is the food delivery fiasco from the young guys service that is on a link for groceries when you get your welcome package from the North Captiva Island Club. There are other services and he didn’t know about it. It would’ve made a lot more sense if we would have Rented a car for the week and stopped at Publix and got our own food and beverages on our way it probably would’ve saved us $1000! We got about $400 worth of groceries and it cost us $1400 for them to provide the service. We went sailing one day using boats and fun on the island and they were awesome. We got to see dolphins and manatees and we stopped at cabbage Island for lunch which was awesome! In August, the water is really warm if that’s what you like. I guess I was expecting it to be clearer and more blue. The house itself was amazing! They provided absolutely everything you could need. The pots and pans could probably use replacing. Remember, this is a remote location so there isn’t that much to do for teenagers unless you spend a lot of money on excursions. If you were looking for remote and quiet and beautiful, this is the place to be!

Family Beach Vacation 2022

Fabulous location right on the beach. Best property on NCI for viewing sunsets. Near the small grass runway so we enjoyed watching the small planes land and take off. Fascinating!!! Rented a boat for a day from Boats and Fun. That team was awesome to work with. Highly recommend this property and NCI!

Propert was exactly as advertised and perfect for our group Only complaint was I never got a response from property manager regarding logistics (complicated because a ferry was required to get to island and there were no grocery stores). We figured it out but the process could have been a little more user-friendly for people who haven’t been to North Captiva before.

Great house but we are disappointed

The house was great, views are amazing. Amenities were not great in terms of any extras. One dish towel, limited laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent. No spices at all, no storage containers, no Saran Wrap or aluminum foil. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT is that there was weather on the day we were supposed to ferry to the island and check in to our home. We received a phone call that we could not come over as the house would not be clean and that our fee for the first night would be refunded. At the end of our stay we contacted the club and they said they had to check with the homeowner about the refund. We have tries several times since our return home with no reply. It cost us $400 to stay an extra night in Fort Meyers. We could have taken Island Girl Ferry to N. Captiva on the day we were supposed to check in. It was the club that told us we could not get into the house even if we made it over. I don't really feel like we should have to pay for that. The house is really great but customer service is lacking.

Looks just like the picture

The house is just as pictured. Gorgeous all around - both house and location. We had 8 people in our party (4 adults (47-52) and 4 kids (11-13). We flew in so packing on our end had to be light. Communication and ease of renting were exceptional however there were a few negatives. The upstairs sliding glass doors don’t lock. There weren’t enough beach towels nor were there enough bath towels. We had to do laundry every night to accommodate everyone’s bath habits. There was only one TV in the house however this could be a positive to some. There was no umbrella with the house. We obviously couldn’t fly with one and although you can purchase one on the island for $100+ You would have to trash it or donate it when we leave. Lastly, and the most concerning for me, was the security cameras outside watching us on the beach, etc. it made us feel exposed not knowing if we were being watched. Definitely made it hard to relax.

The house is as described, beautiful, the location is absolute paradise. If staying at least a week bring trash bags, paper towels,. The house is sparingly stocked. We will come back! Only complaint is the oven did not work, it was reported to unit manager.

This home is incredible, the photos do not show how updated and well-accommodated this beachfront home actually is. Sure you can see the wonderful backyard beach but not the outdoor furniture on all three levels - the upper two decks and the beach level. We took turns taking naps on the queen-sized suspension bed outside the master suite upstairs. We even enjoyed our one bad weather day while staring at the ocean and sunset from indoors.The location and home were fabulous - we had a great time and will definitely return to this same property.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway

House was exactly as advertised-very well appointed; I was concerned about being by the airstrip, but there was no air traffic all week, and even had there been, we would have loved it! This is a "chill" destination, and the house met all of our needs. We were 5 adults on a girls trip, and would do it all over again.

Exceptional stay on North Captiva Island in this fantastic family home!

This property is exactly as it looks......wonderful! The beachfront is probably one of the best on the island. The house is set up perfectly and decorated lovely. We LOVED the front dining porch and ate out there during the beautiful sunsets and we LOVED the bed swing on the top floor balcony! Couldn't have been happier.

#290: Pink Flamingo Beach front house: Phenomenal! Island Amenities: Horrible/dangerous

The Pink Flamingo Beach house is beautifully decorated and cared for, the views are spectacular--the home itself was wonderful, even with a few maintenance issues of which the staff eventually fixed (broken ice maker & wine fridge). Everyone in our party loved this house. However--the golf cart situation was a disaster: after ferry chaos (ferry process very disorganized and communication even worse--almost NO masks worn on ferry/van despite the rules), there were no golf carts to get to our house. We had to fight to eventually get one--we thought we would have two carts but that was a misleading element in pre-booking info. The cart we were given was a piece of junk. It broke down every day and had repeated flat tires. We had to push the cart home 6 different times and while staff was nice, nobody would replace or actually fix the cart so we essentially had no transportation the whole week. The owner's cart is gorgeous, but sits locked up under the house, unavailable to the renters staying in the house. The island club bikes are straight out dangerous--no brakes, broken seats, rusted out peddles--it's embarrassing that anyone thinks this is okay. The island club needs to bite the bullet and buy new, safe equipment -- the dangerous, unreliable golf carts and bikes really put a damper on what should have been a flawless week. The only area to improve with the house is the water--the rotten egg stench is pretty tough to get to used to. Apparently there is a water cleaning system that is supposed to kill the smell but it was out of chlorine--another maintenance issue and we were so worn out by all of the golf cart frustrations and near-death bike experience that we opted to ignore the reeking tap & shower water. Spectacular house and location, the owners need to do something about the above listed issues. If they do, I would most definitely come back--this is quite likely the best rental home on the island.
