Get away from it all at Wharerata (Tree House), an idyllic Kapiti Coast retreat at beautiful Otaki Beach.

This charming coastal home oozes character, style and personality from the moment you step inside. Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams create a warmth and texture throughout the living spaces here, and are complemented by cosy furnishings to make Wharerata feel like a true home away from home.

Wharerata is appointed with three well-sized bedrooms. The master is fitted with a queen bed, and boasts exclusive access to the outdoor deck and living area, while the remaining two bedrooms offer versatile bedding configurations for almost any group, whether you're a family on holiday or a few friends chasing the summer sun.

Dining and entertaining are made easy here. The modern kitchen is well-equipped and spacious, making cooking a delight even for the dubious chef.

Meanwhile, the generous outdoor deck and sprawling lawn area at Wharerata make it easy to embrace summer living at its finest. Out here, a family-sized BBQ and purpose-built, sizeable lounge suite offers the perfect space for the whole family to come together and enjoy an Otaki sunset on a warm evening.

When it’s time to explore the local area, Otaki has much to offer. The beautiful golden sands of Otaki Beach can be reached in just five minutes on foot from Wharerata. A ten minute walk will also take you to Beachbrook Stables, where you can book in a trek to horse ride along the beach for an experience of a lifetime. If you’re just up for a quiet bite to eat, central Otaki town has plenty to offer, such as Main Street Bakery Company, Otaki Seafoods or the local supermarket.

Otaki getaway

The house was in a great location...quiet...could hear the ocean. It was great for the dogs except for a bit of the wire fence had curled and the dogs got under over to the neighbours place. We blocked it off with a bit of wood. House was super comfy, loved the huge couch. Wasnt quite as clean as i had expected...spiders in corners of ceiling too. Also we expected there to be a bathmat and handtowel too. Kitchen was great. Would definitely stay there again.

A comfortable, clean space

We loved that it wasn’t too fussy and had everything we needed. We didn’t have enough dishwasher tablets was our only negative. The place was comfy, quiet and has great sheets! Very close to the beach too. We would stay again.

Relaxing Otaki Beach

Nice location close to the beach. Appreciate the b&b was dog friendly. However, we were not impressed with how unclean the place was. It lacked basic maintenance. This included a very heavy dining table with a glass top and a broken leg leaning on one side causing The glass top to almost fall off. A major health and safety risk. No dishwater tablets provided. However the sheets and towels were clean and fresh. We would not stay there again or recommend to our friends.
