Octagon by the Beach - less than 100m to Matarangi Beach

Uniquely built in the shape of an Octagon, Octagon by the Beach is located less than 100m from beautiful Matarangi Beach and 50m from the Village Green and playground. 5 minute walk to the local shops and cafe, and a 10 minute walk to the gold course. With wrap-around decks you can chase the sun all day.

3 bedrooms - 2 x king rooms and 1 x twin room with 2 x King single beds. Open plan living, well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer. Separate shower (with shower seat) and toilet. Heat pumps/air conditioning in lounge, and both king rooms for all year round comfort. Newly furnished. Extremely well-equipped kitchen with everything you could ever need. Enjoy a BBQ and alfresco dining in summer. LINEN NOT INCLUDED (pillows with pillow protectors and duvets with duvet covers are provided). If you require linen please enquire - this will incur an additional fee of $25 p.p.

There is cooking oil, tea, coffee, sugar and salt and pepper, glad wrap, tin foil and paper towels provided. A small supply of dishwashing liquid, spray n wipe, toilet paper, bin bags and body wash are provided to get you started.

Throw on a DVD or play a board game or curl up on the large couch with a good book. 5 minute walk to shops and cafe. Ample parking for cars and a boat. Garage space not included in rental.

Great Location, Super Relaxing Stay

We had a lovely week away in this property with our two boys. The playground a few houses away is fabulous and we had great times on the beach, which is just across from the park. The house had everything we needed and was well supplied and comfortable to stay in.

We loved our stay, the home was comfortable and clean. Very close to the beach and playground which was perfect for our daughter. Loved the beach and how the beach had a box full of kids toys to play with at the beach (then return as you left the beach). Thank you!

Annual family summer beach holiday

The property is lovely and clean and has all the facilities you need especially air con for humid nights was much appreciated. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again. Previously linen was an option but is no longer that is the only negative. The owners were very responsive and great with communication!

Octagon in Paradise

We love everything about the Coromandel, and finding this almost beachfront accommodation added more happiness. We could walk to the beach and the shops in town centre. The long stretch of flat, hard packed sand beckoned daily walks. We enjoy self catering and appreciate the ambiance that our host provided. Everything we needed was there - great kitchen and pantry. Lots of outdoor spaces to dine alfresco and just relax. Thanks for offering your home to travelers.

Nice Location and Enjoyable Stay

It is nice bach close to the beach, just a quick walk through a park to the sand. That part of Matarangi is a hive of enjoyable activities and people are out in groups all over that area, walking and talking, running, kids playing, riding bikes, going to the beach, getting boats in and out of the water. The bach itself has a wonderful wrap around porch, and can be opened on all sides to let the sea breeze in on warm days. We found everything we needed for preparing meals without any problem, and the single bathroom works well even for large groups since the toilet is separate from the shower, which are both separate from the sink. Overall very enjoyable! 🙂

Almost beachfront!

Great place to stay! Ideal location with the beach only a two minute walk away, and large park and playground at the end of the road great for families. Super tidy and well laid out house with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Matarangi.

Beautiful Matarangi

Very well presented, comfortable and warm. Every amenity, super comfortable bed and fully equipped kitchen. Very short walk to a glorious beach and reserve. Cath was so kind after our travel plans were scuppered at the last minute. Very highly recommend this property.

The host was awesome!

We had a really great stay here over the weekend. Catherine, the host, was so quick at replying and easy to deal with. The place is a short walk to the beach. Super comfy beds. You do need to be prepared with food and snacks and sauces etc for cooking, if you want them. As there is only the basics. But there is a four square close. Overall, a great stay and we would definitely book again.

We loved our stay in this very comfortable and lovely house. We were a bit unlucky with the weather, cyclone and all, but it was nice to be able to relax in this nice space. Cath was great to deal with - very prompt.

We spent two summers renting in Matarangi and fell in love with the place. We own the property with my elderly parents and have two teenage daughters who love Matarangi. We are all based in Auckland.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement


The location of our bach is amazing - Matarangi Beach is only four houses away at the end of the street. The village Green in less than 50m away (lots of events happen here over summer). There is a playground and basketball hoop on the village green. We are only a 5 minute walk to the local shops and cafe.
The bach was built by the original owners (he was a builder) and they lived here until ill health took them back to Auckland. He wanted to build something original and the octagon shape is the end result. Our family purchased the property in March 2020. We came to Matarangi for a couple of summers and fell in love with the place and decided we needed a more permanent base to enjoy it! Our teenage daughters love Matarangi and we love how safe it is.

Modern new furniture, including 2 kings beds and 2 x king single beds

Unlike most baches, our kitchen is fully equipped, even including baking equipment, crock pot, toasted sandwich maker, sharp knives - there really isn't anything else you will need to bring.

There is an abundance of beautiful beaches to explore within a short drive including Otama Beach, Opito Bay, Simpsons beach, Whangapoua Beach, and New Chums Beach are all within 20-25 minutes drive, as is Coromandel Town. Hot water beach is an hour away..

We hope you enjoy Matarangi and our family bach as much as we do.
