Cottage de plage récemment rénové et restauré. Piscine toutes saisons ajoutée cet été! Thème de décoration de chien parfait pour les batteurs de plage qui veulent ralentir, marcher n'importe où et profiter du temps de l'île. Le chalet a quatre chambres, trois avec leur propre salle de bain complète. Une cuisine gastronomique avec cuisinière à gaz 6 feux, réfrigérateur à vin et îlot de rassemblement. La plage est à quelques pas, tout comme les magasins et les épiceries. En face de la chapelle dans les dunes. À côté se trouve Chapel Hill House, une maison restaurée de 6 chambres pouvant accueillir 12 personnes et pouvant être ajoutée à vos vacances pour accueillir un groupe de 20 personnes ou plus. Cour clôturée pour animaux de compagnie. Foyer dans la cour arrière. Les chiens sont toujours les bienvenus au Cottage Black Dog. Le chalet peut accueillir 9 personnes avec une nouvelle literie. Un espace de vie confortable aménagé pour lire un livre ou regarder un film. Les nouveaux téléviseurs dans chaque chambre et le salon. Manger dans la cuisine au centre de l'île et salle à manger séparée. Lits pour 9 mais la chambre pour plus grande chambre principale.

Thanks for the 5 stars! This property is one of 2 we have side by side. We have a small space on the side of the other house when we are in town. We do not mingle but are available if needed..

Family Getaway

The house was a little older as listed, but it was really cute. Perfect for the family with pets. The pool was refreshing after a day at the beach and the teens really enjoyed it. JB was super friendly and helpful. We did have a minor incident when we first arrived that was able to be accommodated. We would definitely stay again.

Super cute beach cottage!

This is a wonderfulplace in the heart of old town. Super easy to get to the shops, restaurants and beach. The decor is very cute and dog centric. It's cozy and inviting. The salt water pool was the best to relax in. It is shared with another house but still awesome. And we didn't experience any problem with the neighbors. Please keep in mind this is an older beach cottage and not a new condo. If you prefer vintage and welcoming, this is your kind of place!!! And you can even bring your dog!

A little expensive. 5 star price for 3 star house

A little expensive. A 5 star price for a 3 star house. Good location (could walk to the beach) but the house definitely needed some more updates. Especially the carpets in the bedrooms & some of the bathrooms. Nice owners but in my opinion not worth the high price.

Thanks for enjoying us as owners. Carpets and bathroom vinyl are definitely the next upgrade. It was in our short range until Hurricane Harvey recovery jumped ahead of this. We have upgraded all the other flooring. Honestly, our goal is more warm and welcoming than 5 star. But then we usually hear that our price for a 4 bedrooms, walk to the beach home in the heart of Old Town with a heated salt water pool is below market. We also have continued to allow 2 night stays to give visitors an affordable vacation in a restful cottage.

Great Getaway

We booked this cottage last moment for the location and private pool. The house is cute, the kitchen was fully stocked with anything needed to cook or BBQ. The owner was available for any question day or night and quick to respond. We enjoyed our stay, the pool was amazing to use. The pool is shared with the rental property next door, however there wasn't a usage issue. The house was tidy and neat, but we couldn't find a broom to sweep and in turn we felt like we couldn't keep it clean. The house is spread out well and has 3 bathrooms. It was a good find.

Disappointed

Very cute beach decor. But house was dark, had a roach problem and some of the plugs didn’t work, especially in the kitchen. Sleeps 8 but we were crowded with 6. Outside needed mowing and trash picked up. Overall we were disappointed.

We were next door and could have helped you reset the plugs in the kitchen if you had asked. They all work but can trip in the wet area if exposed to water. We have regular pest control and can call for a retreat anytime you let us know that the heat or dryness has caused the beach bugs to break in.

My experience

Property didn't look like pictures at all. I can get over the appearance, the showers only had hot or scolding hot water in all but one of the showers. It was super noisy, people right next to us were so loud and yelling at 7am.

The house is old and cute. However it is very unclean, found someone s dirty sock in between our sheets! Just gross! You can’t eat at the table with out smelling cat pee! Needs to be exterminated for roaches and spiders. The grounds need to be mowed and And pick up all the crap just lying around.

Terrible, dirty, unsafe

The pictures of house are not accurate. We were shocked pulling up to house on the way it looked. The inside was dirty. The kitchen pans were not safe to use. The electricity had to be worked on the water was turned off to the whole house while we were there. We called the water company, they said owners had not paid bill. It does have a nice pool in back yard but the yard was disgusting so I didn’t want to use it. We had some people come over and they couldn’t believe it either. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. It needs a lot of work. It’s an old house but there is lots of maintenance like a broken window a hole in the floor that has nothing to do with the age of house just poorly taken care of.

I will take the high road here as most of your comments are just not true and none were shared until a week after you left and I did not give you the refund you demanded. I can see that everything got off to a rough start when we could not let you arrive days early when you asked with no notice. With just a little notice we try to let folks in early or add days. I know you did not realize you needed to accurately tell us how many people will stay at the house and were not pleased when we kindly shared this. Actually the 6 extras were very nice and repeatedly told us they loved the house. With 2 huge dogs you expected us to clean up after, the yard did get a bit messy. We ask guests to police pets as soon as possible. High winds did damage our electric line but we have a great electrician who gave you uninterupted service while he responded immediately to repair. We ask guests to handle their trash cans, sorry you were upset by this. It just became easier for us to do this for you. This is a 1940's beach house and we price it as just that. Your cleanliness issue was about our outside paint job! We do try to powerwash each season but it was pretty cold this winter before your arrival. We have great housekeepers who would come do a touch up anytime- just tell us if something was missed. We do not control the winds or mistakes by the water company but gave you a refund for inconvenience because we try to do the right thing even when an intention to retaliate is clear.

Great Time

We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Black Dog! It’s a cute older home that’s has been renovated! The pool was perfect for our group of 6. It’s a shared pool but the other house was not occupied. Black Dog was perfect for our 3 day weekend! JB was awesome! Very quick to respond & very helpful.

Perfect for our Family

This cute house, close to the beach and everything is the perfect location. The house is set up with separate rooms each with their own bath/shower which was perfect for us. The common space was perfect for family game nights and dinners. The pool was mostly shaded and stayed cool- great option when tired of the sand. The grill was clean and easy to use. Overall this was unanimously the best family vacation we have had in years! Will definitely be coming back to the Black Dog.

Spring Break Getaway March 2022

Black Dog Cottage is exactly as described in VRBO and the comments associated with this rental. The cottage is in a great location between the beach and town. I recommend renting a golf cart as the beach is approx .4 miles to beach. I used Tarpon Cart Rentals and they were amazing to work with and gave me a free bag of ice! This rental perfectly described the bed situation, and I want to emphasize that each bed has it's own bathroom which was perfect for my kids and their friends. This is a one story house, but the way the bedrooms had bathroom buffers you didn't hear the noise from others. The owners had extra ammentities that I haven't seen in other houses. They supplied beach towels, and kept all the extra tupperware from past guests which is so helpful when cooking. In addition they had plenty of laundry detergent and dryer sheets. They had salt/pepper and spices for cooking plus coffee and creamer. They had a combined coffee machine and keurig. I didn't use the pool as it was a chilly weekend, but the neighbors in the house next door seemed to enjoy it. I would definitely rent again when in Port A.

Cute cottage

Super simple rental process. They set everything up & email you the access code. Only 3 minutes away from the beach if you load up and drive which is great considering all you need to park is a $12 permit you can get at any Stripes! It's a cozy little cottage with plenty of room for everyone & it's pet friendly!

Perfect for families and pets

Some properties allow pets and some are pet FRIENDLY and this one was definitely friendly and welcoming to pets and families! This place was very cute and comfortable. It was not sparkling clean (ie older carpet, not brand new furniture) but that made it feel so much more like home, we were able to relax and just live in it. Having a semi private pool was great and even though there were guests in the other home the entire time, sharing it never posed a problem. We are planning on staying at the bigger home next year and can't wait!

Pretty awesome.

The pool and backyard area were very nice. It’s an old house but has everything you’ll need for your stay. Don’t expect a brand new place, if your high class, go somewhere else. It was perfect for our family and we had a great time!

Easter Weekend

The cottage was cozy and in a great location. The pool heater was broken so the pool was cold and we did not use. The house was close to what was advertised but do need to be altered a little bit. The cottage shares the outdoor space with the other house. The family that stayed at the other location was nice but there was a lot of family members. We ended up not using the outdoor space much. All in all it was a decent stay.

Our new favorite Port A house!

The Black Dog Cottage is walking distance from the beach, it's a few blocks from the IGA, EVERYTHING we wanted or needed was just minutes away. We love this part of town. We traveled with two kids under the age of 10 and we were all able to have our own rooms and space (and bathrooms!) It was too cold to enjoy the pool, but the fenced in yard in the back was a lovely spot to sit in the sun and read. We hope to be back again soon! I would recomend this vrbo to any friends and family - it's perfect for a family trip, or a fun adult get away.

We had a good time

This is an older house in an older part of town. It was quite clean for the most part, but has a roach problem. All TVs and electrical appliances worked well and all remotes had good batteries.

Thank you for your review. The house is under a maintenance contract for pests. Unfortunately, the Palmetto bugs can fly over the barriers even with quarterly treatment. We can always request a re-treat if you let us know.

Sweet beach cottage

We had a great stay at Black Dog Cottage. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach, the proximity to everything, and the privacy of the back yard and pool.

Very nice cottage great location

At first I was a little worried , from the outside the cottage does not look like a four bedroom. Once I entered the place it was everything we could have asked for. Had a great time.

Covid 19 broke out.

We rented for a month. Really liked the house. Very comfortable master bed. Cute kitchen and nice living room area. Pool is great! Problem with no hot water initially. Landlord had a plumber there right away. Thought it was the water heater. Had to wait for a part. Then water heater replacement and finally a leaking pipe that was the problem. It was fixed immediately. In the meantime JB let us shower in their rental next door. Once we got hot water everything was great! Then the pandemic! All the restaurants and businesses closed except for take out. We could still walk on the beach. It’s a great place to have to shelter in place! We had hoped to have friends join us but no one was traveling. We did get to know the landlords JB and Bruce and they are very nice and accommodating. We will have to come back next year when things return to normal! Tom and Jeanne
