Accommodating up to 8 adults in beds, Rum Cove invites you to unwind by the private heated pool, explore the island by golf cart, fish from your own backyard dock, or enjoy panoramic water views from the observation deck. As an Admiral Home, your stay includes full support from The Island Club team. Our on-island staff can assist with ferry coordination, luggage assistance, grocery delivery, golf cart questions, dockage details, and personalized recommendations.

NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW

Rum Cove is located on North Captiva Island, a secluded, car-free barrier island known for pristine beaches, abundant wildlife, and relaxed Old Florida charm.

The home’s waterfront setting and private docks make it ideal for fishing enthusiasts and boaters. Guests enjoy shelling, kayaking, bird watching, and exploring nearby state and wildlife preserves in a peaceful island environment.

GETTING AROUND / TRANSIT

Island Access: North Captiva is only accessible by boat or small private plane. No cars are allowed. Parking at the mainland Welcome Center is $10 per day.

Golf carts are the primary mode of transportation on the island. A golf cart is included with this home.

The nearest commercial airports are Fort Myers (RSW) and Punta Gorda (PGD). Guests should plan ahead for groceries and essentials, as on-island shopping options are limited.

IMPORTANT NOTES AND HOUSE RULES

Luggage Assistance Included (Admiral Home):
As an Admiral Home guest, luggage assistance is included with your stay. An Island Club team member will load your luggage onto the ferry and deliver it directly to the home upon your arrival. A team member will also be waiting at the ferry dock to assist and ensure a smooth arrival experience.

Golf Cart Damage Deposit:
A $2,000 pre-authorization damage deposit hold will be charged to your card on file three days before check-in and released within one week after checkout, pending golf cart inspection.

Dockage Information:

One dock space is included with your stay

Additional dock space may be available for $50 per night

Boat not included

Additional Notes:

Airstrip access available for private pilots

Lift available for luggage and grocery transport

Please stock up on groceries and essentials before arrival or arrange delivery

Rum Cove Relaxation

Lovely home with great views of the nature preserve and the water. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a choice of eating locations. We had early coffee on the screened in porch off the living room, watching boats move up the canal and birds skim the preserve’s tree tops. We often finished the day on the back deck around a large glass table watching the sun set. The pool deck was amazing with ample chairs and tables surrounding a heated pool with a grill, ping-pong table, and a bar with enough seating to accommodate 6 of us comfortably. We climbed the crow’s nest in the evening where we simultaneously watched sun set and moon rise. Great space for gathering family but with multiple cozy spots for quiet time.

This house has it all!

Fantastic house to enjoy all that North Captiva offers. The pool at the house along with the outdoor bar was thoroughly enjoyed. The house was well stocked and appreciated the multiple fridges. Plenty of games and places to slip away to read a book. Our family enjoyed walks to Mangos for ice cream or a margarita. Property management was extremely helpful when needed.

Fun in the Sun

Had the beaches to ourselves (magical sunsets with dolphins, tarpon, beautiful birds) and spent every night swimming in the colorful pool lights. The island has come a long way and it truly is a paradise.

Beautiful home/ great location

As you know much of the island is still under repair. This home still has a few things left before it’s 100% but it was completely what we were expecting. The house was perfect for our family and loved having the outside area for the kids after long days on the boat. Definitely will be renting this home again.

Perfect house for a family vacation!

Highly recommend Rum Cove!! The pictures perfectly depicts the house. We stayed with 6 adults and 4 kids and had a bed for everyone (two kids shared a pullout). Beulah is the property manager who reached out to us well before our trip and went above and beyond answering questions we had before and during our stay. Such a lovely, slow, casual island. We had a perfect vacation and are already planning our next back to Rum Cove đŸč☀❀

Relaxing Family Vacation

We loved our time at Rum Cove! Seeing Manatee everyday off the dock was amazing. The sunsets on the beach were some of the most beautiful all of us have seen. Having the pool made for perfect escape when we were beached out. The island is quit and exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely come back again! Bring bug spray and sunscreen!! The No-See-Ums ate up a couple of us. The 6 person golf cart did have an issue staying gear. We contacted Beulah with the issue, but do not think she had any luck getting someone over to work on it. Beulah was very helpful and on top of everything we needed! Overall we had a great time!!

An amazing beach house vacation!!

Spent most of our time at Pool & pool bar.(w/large refrigerator an added bonus for all those drinks!) Docked boat at house, so much easier. Loved the house and all the amenities! We enjoyed our stay, thank you!

Rumtastic Rum Cove

We had 3 separate families stay here! We loved this property! We brought our boat and traveled everywhere! The manatees in the lagoon were a wonderful treat to enjoy with coffee! Watch out for the unwelcomed local raccoon visiting though! He loves anything he can snack on! But he wasn’t a bother! The staff were working on a relocation for this guy!! Beulah was so wonderful to work with! She helped us with all our needs when we needed anything! She was kind enough to bring us power steering fluid to fix a minor issue on our boat too! Talk about grateful!! The sunsets, beach, and island were amazing! The local bar and restaurants were just what we needed for a break from the kitchen! This was a wonderful way to spend time with our families making memories that will last a lifetime! Side note! Bring tons of water! Sunscreen, and bug spray!

Absolutely Lovely

Our family loved our stay at Rum Cove. The house has a great location on a canal where we were able to dock the boat we rented from Boats and Fun conveniently at the house. Beulah met us at the ferry and took us right to the house, we arrived on the island early so this was a huge help! Hanging out at the pool was a favorite activity every afternoon after being out on the boat and the nature preserve right behind the house is a beautiful backdrop. We had lots of Manatee visit at the dock and even a dolphin! The house had everything we needed and the separate apartment was a hit with our teenagers. Overall a great relaxing week away from everything. Bring your bug spray and swim suit and your all set!

April Vacation

This is our second year on the island and we can’t say enough good things about our stay at Rum Cove. From the booking process to our check out the experience was nothing short of perfection. The location of the property is unbeatable, especially with younger kids as they could easily walk to Mangos or the NCIC on their own. Having a pool on our property was the icing on the cake and made for a perfect way to wind down the day and have some fun as a family. Also, being right on the canal provided extra entertainment for the kids as they were able to fish whenever they wanted, which was a huge hit! Everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly and a huge shout out to Andrew who was always there if we needed something. We will be back!

Amazing home!

Our family and friends had an amazing time at Rum Cove and would definitely visit again in the future. There is a lot more planning than you realize that go into staying at Rum Cove and the communication with both the property manager and the maintenance gentleman who was the homes prior owner was amazing. They were SO accommodating and helped us resolve some minor issues quickly. We Love Rum Cove and the island experience

Family Fun

Our family of 5 adults and 4 children (5 and younger) enjoyed our week at Rum Cove immensely! The weather was great, the calm breeze cooled the effects of the warm sun, the layout of the house allowed picnics poolside and evening fun on the upper screened porch. The stars were amazing to view from the crow's nest on a clear night. Traveling around by golf cart was so fun! The pool was used a lot!!! Beach time with kids with the provided sand toys and 'baby tent' was great. Proximity to the NCIC allowed more pool fun and alternate dining. The kitchen was well equipped. Great time with great friends!

Property was in an excellent location, and we were able to take a water taxi right up to the house with our luggage and extra groceries. Very convenient. The home was well maintained and clean, loved the technology upgrades without losing the island vibe, and the pool/bar area was a ton of fun. We golf-carted around the island, hiked, kayaked, enjoyed the adult frozen drinks, did some seashell-searching, floated in the pool, caught fish right off the dock... enjoyed more frozen drinks... and just generally loved the chill island atmosphere. Communication with the host and property manager was awesome. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. Will be back.

Amazing Property

Our group loved our stay at Rum Cove. We had two families with 6 children ages 7 & under. The house was perfect & had everything we needed. The weather did not cooperate, but thanks to the heated pool, our kids were still able to swim everyday. We caught a few fish off the dock too! The sunsets and stargazing from the top were amazing and we enjoyed eating in the screened-in porch frequently. Highly recommend this property!

Rum Cove is everything we hoped for

Amazing property. Very "Caribbean meets keys". Very close to the club and ferry. We rented a boat and kept it at the house dock. Overall an amazing time.

Wonderful Property!

Our group of seven ladies loved Rum Cove and the respite from Covid-19! Heated pool, two golf carts and plenty of cold food & drink storage space were great amenities! Loved that we could kayak to the home and get up close to the Osprey nest. A few minor upgrades/maintenance needed, but we simply left management a list. Many thanks for sharing Rum Cove with us!

Great Location with everything you need

The pool was awesome and the property was a very short walk to the beach. It was clean, roomy and had everything we needed even for Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks.

Restful respite

The island is beautiful. Can’t beat walking a pristine and uncrowned beach. Magnificent sunsets. The home is older but maintained. Very peaceful. Loved the screened in porches and the kids loved the heated pool. Recommend you make arrangements well in advance for activities. Was unable to get the Fishing Lady but she did give recommendations. She has an awesome reputation among island locals. Did have Chef Becca cook in the home one evening. She was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. Loved eating at Mango’s where all the employees were fun and provided good food and even better service. Beulah was a delight to work with and listen to. Highly recommend for that laid back vacation.
