Lake

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a hard time finding the location and the water smelled terribly when anyone showered. We did not drink the water and bought water in town. The lake was gorgeous and we were in town for Interlochen family weekend- basically 20 minutes anywhere we wanted to go and fun for the family to be together.

Of all the vrbo rentals I've experienced this was by far and away the best. What an amazing experience. Beautiful, clean and so well communicated. Five stars isn't enough.

For 489 a night, I expected the bbq grill to be operable and have a cooking grate on it. The property was clean. I did not see/ find any paddles for any of the kayaks/ boar on the property. Overall it’s a good place with a nice view and full kitchen, not for almost 500 a night I expected a lot more.

We (two adults) had a great time on the lake with our dogs! It was a super private spot and the house was clean with a dishwasher, central air, laundry and a smart tv—convenient in a rental. The back deck was great to sit outside and watch the water and not too buggy facing the lake. Do come prepared with bug spray. We also bought drinking water. Overall a very comfy stay with a pretty view. Would def come back!

The cabin was not cleaned from the previous stay when we arrived. VUN did quickly resolve this by sending someone out, but we weren’t able to settle in for a couple hours after arrival. We were told we would get reimbursed our cleaning fee for this. A couple items/amenities were not in the best, working condition. There was a broken lamp when we arrived, the air pump for the provided floats was not working, 3 of the 5 floats had holes. We were told if we purchased a new pump, we would be reimbursed for it. I have not seen that refund yet. I’m not sure if the water is well water or maybe just rusty pipes, but the water had a metallic taste to it, so we had to buy bottled water. Overall, we had a fun time in Traverse City and on Bass Lake, but for 3500 for the week, it should have been nicer. It cost less to spend a week in Aruba, flights and hotel during a similar time of year just 2 years ago.

Overall it was a great stay. We mostly cooked at the property and enjoyed copious lawn games by the lake. However, the listing is somewhat deceptive in that they say it is 4 bedrooms, but the fourth room is really just a loft with no wall for audio separation from the living room / kitchen.

Great location

Great location. Nice place. A few issues: closet slat doors on bedrooms offered no privacy and no noise buffer: inside the fridge door were no shelves for condiments etc, used coffee grounds in the coffee maker, water has very strange smell, washcloths left in dryer, outdoor trash can was never picked up and over full. View was fantastic, lake was great! Full range of dishes, spices, nice grill, great fire pit. Very quiet, beautiful setting!

A peaceful view of nature

Incredible week of the beauty living on a small lake. Spectacular views of nature, the smell of fresh water and the serenity of peaceful songs of frogs, birds and jumping fish. Different places on the property are all stunning! From the Lilly pads of a hidden swamp to a short beautiful walk to a secret dock. Don’t forget your Mosquito spray! It’s so worth the little pests! We grew up in Traverse City, never thought much of Bass Lake, but went to #1 in my book! Thank you so much!

Bass Lake Life

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Bass Lake Life was very segregated down a dirt road which is great if you’re looking for privacy. I only had a couple of things I wish were different. First the photo showed about 3 tables and umbrellas on the back deck. We arrived to one small bistro table and an offset umbrella in a location that made it unusable. We had to move the umbrella ourselves for shade. We had to move everything back before leaving per rules even though I think what we moved would have been nicer for the next renters. The upstairs loft makes the whole house very hot even with the central air cranked. If you plan to use upstairs bedrooms in summer those folks will be super hot. The home is not in the best shape but it’s a lake house and if you’re ok with that then this space will work. Additionally the row boat was blocking the dock and it was swampy by the beach. The grass was also getting tall which made the mosquitoes worse. The deck railing at the stairs was broken and part is missing altogether from a safety standpoint. The grill also didn’t work properly. YouHad to manually light some burners and the regulatorDidn’t seem to work right. We worked around everything but if you’re expecting what you see in photos the property may not be exactly as advertised unless you make it that way yourself. Overall still a great stay. Location is isolated down a tight dirt road. Still enjoyed ourselves and the stay overall!

Great stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great central location. Plenty of room. Great place to fish and kayak. Few things to note, this property is at the end of the gravel road; last drive on your left. The house address is on a stained wood sign attached to a tree, which can be hard to see if arriving after dark. The house has well water; bring drinking water. I recommend ensuring all food is properly stored and counters wiped down because in the morning there was mouse feces on stove and counters. Backyard was water saturated so if you are bringing a dog you may want to look out for this before walking out back.

Reclusive get-away

Great location right on Bass Lake. There is one neighbor but 70 feet of woods between so we never actually saw them or heard them. The cabin has 4 bedrooms and plenty of space with a nice view of the lake. Only one bathroom though so plan accordingly. It was so peaceful there that there were times we didn’t hear anything at all. The rest of the time we just heard nature and the occasional pontoon. The lake itself is reportedly 29 feet at its deepest but we covered most of it and will report it was 4 feet at its deepest and only one to two feet in most of it. You could always see the bottom. There are several kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat to use and they supply the fishing equipment. We did not see much for fish but did catch and release some Bass.We actually spent more time sleeping than we planned on because it was so relaxing. The yard was mostly saturated with water when we were there. I’m not sure what was up with that but we used the dry portion. The drinking water was horrible, but they provided a water filter which helped a great deal and we drank store bought water the rest of the time. We had a very nice time and would recommend this cabin.

Location- and thats it

While the location was great, not much more about the place was. The place has major structural issues- of which tie into safety of staying there. The one patio door in the living room that you can access, doesn't operate. It took all 200 lbs of me to be able to open and close the door. This was not only a MAJOR inconvenience, but this also limits a potential emergency exit to one which is down as a skinny hallway. Most windows were missing screens. The one that I did try to open that had a screen was non-functioning casement in the main floor bedroom. The patio door in the bedroom also took quite a bit of muscle to open. The deck had its challenges as well, there's a mangled-up section right at the steps creating a trip hazard. Floors are so settled around the perimeter of the house- I wouldn't be surprised if they drop 2" from center of house to eave sides of house. I'm really surprised that this place is offered up for rental in the condition its in. We also had to take care of the dead mouse in the trap in the kitchen. There was no way we were going to attempt to use the fireplace. Loads of cracked tile throughout the place. I'm not one that has ever left a bad review, but other than the location, this place was a major disappointment and in my opinion, a safety hazard away from a major lawsuit happening.
