Pass the Keys | Quaint 2 Bed within City Walls
Enjoy a a quaint, rustique retreat in this gorgeously finished Victorian terrace. This beautiful home comes with spacious living areas and a farmhouse style, well-equipped kitchen. Located in a wonderfully quiet corner of York, guests will find the lovely Bishophill Community Garden opposite, the bustling city centre with all its attractions only 5 minutes walk away, and the vibrant Bishopthorpe Road 10 minutes walk from the house.
The space:
Located in the pleasant neighbourhood of Bishophill, inside of the ancient city Bar Walls. York city centre is a stone's throw, and can be reached in 5 minutes on foot. The vibrant hub of Bishopthorpe Road is also 5 minutes walk away, where you can find many independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs to enjoy.
Our period property dates back to the 1890s, and has been thoughtfully renovated and decorated throughout to a very high standard. The pitched roof window extension brings in lots of natural light in to the living room. There are two double bedrooms, making the accommodation suitable for 4 people.
The property sits opposite a small park which is a community garden looked after by local residents. The beautiful trees and the birds and squirrels who inhabit them give our house a real sense of nature in the heart of the city.
Ground Floor:
Entrance is gained through the patio gate, which leads immediately into the lovely outdoor seating area. Entering through the French doors into the property, you come first to the recently added conservatory extension. The conservatory houses a small workspace and extends into the living room. Here you'll find plenty of space to relax on a double sofa and armchair in front of the beautiful feature fireplace. (Please note the fireplace is not for use). In the living space you’ll find a small library, and an HD Smart TV to keep you entertained. Freeview is available, and TV applications can be used with use of your own log in account.
Our kitchen also forms part of the open plan living, and extends into a dining area for a wonderfully social space in which to cook and eat. With beautiful sage green walls and cream units the kitchen is beautifully finished for all your cooking needs. This is our second home, therefore it is kitted out for home cooking, with everything our guests need. The cooker gives you plenty of space with the four gas burners and two ovens. Other appliances include use of a dishwasher, tall fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.
First Floor:
Upstairs are the two bedrooms and bathroom.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, chest of drawers, night tables and lamps. This bedroom also has a small wash room with basin and hanging space. In the second bedroom there is a plush double bed, built in wardrobes, bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers.
The newly fitted shower room is modern and contemporary, with white fixtures and fittings. The generously sized shower (no bath) benefits from a rainfall shower and handheld shower.
There will be some complimentary tea/coffee waiting for you which I am sure will be useful for those arriving after a long journey! Fresh white bedding and towels are provided (one hand towel and one bath towel per person), as well as miniature travel sized bottles of shampoo, shower gel and soap.
Other items included are a washing-up pack, toilet roll and kitchen roll, which will last a couple of days. If wish to purchase more for your stay there is a Sainsbury's Local or Costcutters on Bishopthorpe Road, a or another Sainsbury's Local on Micklegate, all are 5 minutes walk away.
With my home being so close to the city centre, there is restricted access for cars and no direct parking on premises. There nearest 24/7 car park is at Nunnery Lane. Please see 'other details to note' for more information.
Remote self check-in gives flexibility for late arrivals, and 24/7 guest support is on hand should you need any assistance during your stay.
Guests will have access to the entire house, with the exception of the basement level. This is our second home so we do have a couple of rooms and cupboards which are locked for our personal belongings.
Other things to note
PARKING:
The nearest 24/7 parking is located on Nunnery Lane which is a 2 minute walk away. This is an outdoor car park on the other side of the city Bar Walls. There are also electric car charging points there too. You can pay by phone with RingGo. The location number for this car park is 27709.
Guests can park in front of the property for 10 minutes to unload luggage.
CHECK IN / CHECK OUT:
Check-in time is after 4pm and check-out time is before 10am. A £30 charge will be requested if guests check themselves in early without permission or if guests do not check out on time as this will cause disruption to my cleaner’s schedule. Please note that you will be charged £100 for lost keys, so please be careful with them.
FAMILIES NOTES:
My home is an old Victorian terrace which means the stairs are a little steeper than a modern house. Please bear this in mind if you are travelling with young children and/or toddlers. If you have any queries, do not hesitate to reach
